Agree. We saw in Week 1 how a botched snap could decide the outcome of a game. Holding is a lot more than just catching the football and putting it on the ground. If Wile can't execute that, then he's even more of a liability than Butler overall. There are a lot of moving parts involved in a snap, hold, and kick. Because it is done repetitiously with little issue, it's not commonly discussed.

My outlook on this is that Butler and Wile are in a mini competition for the week, and that if Wile can hold a snap, Butler is gone.

All of this and I'd add the reason BA and most teams (if not all) have the punter hold for kicks is they have a ton of time to practice it unlike a back up QB etc. The punter, LS'er and kicker simply have all the time in the world to practice together.

I'm sorry but Keim should be unhappy with himself & kick himself in the balls for bringing him back. On top of that, his decision cost his team a draft pick :bang:
That's the part that blows my mind, that we gave up anything for him. This dude has been taking from this team all year, paychecks and wins and a draft pick.

Butler should be sitting on his couch by game time Sunday! Stanton can freaking hold sure he can put down the clipboard once in awhile and do something to earn his salary! Only the ******** cards keep an awful punter because he can hold how ridiculous is that?

THIS! Stanton I believe has been a holder before, why not have him do something to earn his salary.

assuming it is to let theme compete this week prior to the game.
Also to give Wile time to practice holding for Catanzaro? (Ah, i see that was confirmed above by Somers' tweet. Though, why Stanton hasn't been practicing as a holder also, and couldn't fill in until Wile masters it, i dunno!)

And time is needed for the Cards' "Special" teams to get accustomed to covering punt returns where the punt goes more than 30 yards....

One thing to note, Palmer does not practice on the first day, just film study and on day two he is limited. Stanton gets a TON of reps every week and doesnt have a lot of time to go hold for kicks

Maybe that's why most of the receivers have had off timing routes throughout this season. They're used to compensating for Stanton's errant passes when he's QB'ing during practices.

Maybe, but Meh.

Floys is mostly on target and just cant catch. Fitz and Johnson dont seem to be having issues.

Watch Floyd and his lackadaisical route running. I fear he is either hiding an injury or is dogging it this year.

Just when you think Keim might have figured it out...*head shake* Is this era back all of a sudden?

Keim made more moves in his first year than Gaves did during his entire time with the Cardinals.

So, no. 1000 times no.

He picked the wrong year to dog it... Unless he has a backdoor agreement with another team.

I have always been of the opinion that punters and kickers are more important than most teams management recognize. They should be an important part of the draft and scouting. We are probably still thinking about the kicker #1 draft pick we made out of Arkansas that ended his career in a car crash after one year. There has been an amazing number of extra points missed this year. We could have won 2 more games with a good kicker. Where is Jim Bakken?
