What I don't understand is why BA even attempted a FG or XP while Butler was off the team. With Butler being soooooo important to the process weren't the odds of making any of those kicks almost zero?

Not that I agree with it (we are way past the point) but I bet this is BA's last attempt to shake Butler into punting the "way he does in practice". If Butler can do it...he stays on the team. If not, he is gone next week.
