He has interviewed for like five head coach jobs over the years so it's not like he's a random guy arians recommended.

And yet no one has ever picked him. In fact despite all this exposure he’s never even been even given a coordinator position.

I'm going back to my testicular fortitude statement, Keim has none.

It’s starting to bother me that this franchise seems incredibly beholden to a coach that won 1 playoff game and only went to the playoffs twice in five years.

Perhaps they look at him as the winningest coach in franchise history and architect of our best season in franchise history.

Also, hard to fault his playoff w/l record when Palmer got injured in 2014, leaving us with an inept Lindley at QB.

BA is gone. I don't get why we need to focus on his negatives when he clearly moved the bar for what was once considered a good year for this franchise.

Jesus.. SK can decide by himself, why should he consider arians advise?
Arians was a good coach but didnt seem very sharp picking up assistant coaches
MB has already said that he finds the multiple interview process "valuable" because it opens up management to new ideas, trends etc. It has been rumored that our current ST's suck. At the very least, picking the brains of another ST coach can't hurt.

it may well have been a heart to heart intervention in which SK and MB told him point blank,...your health suxx, and you wont let us fire bad coaches...so do us all a favor, save face and retire so we dont have to fire you.,
I not buying this at all, if BA was about to be fired he would have said go ahead and fire me. That way he's still would have got paid next year.

BA is a very respected member of the coaching fraternity, and has a lot of connections. I think it would be wise for the Cards brass to listen to what he has to say.

because we all know due to certain issues BA was closer to being let go than he was to being named the Godfather of Michaels children.

Both SK and MB both have been pissed for months over the state of the team,...and the debacle at ST's. BA chose to retire so he didnt get fired...or...refired as he says.

Where here the above? Wouldn’t surprise me, but just haven’t read it.

Has it ever occurred Keim trusted Arians and Arians trusted Keim? Sometimes Keim gives into Arians and Arians gives into Keim. Bidwill breaks the tie when there is no agreement. That is a professional working arrangement.

SK had 5 years to draft a QBOTF to learn under Palmer, He failed miserably... Could have traded picks and moved up... We could have easily been in the running for Garoppolo... Never even tried.

Now we have a roster, that's easily the most putrid in the league.

I don't get the blind love for SK... Yes, he's nifty at plugging in veteran FA's under 1 year deals, but he's left this roster so depleted, that the only 4 people on this roster that are worth a crap are:

David Johnson
Fitz (unlikely he returns if we go with a completely new system)
Chandler Jones
Patrick Peterson

Anyone I missed?

That's quite a team-building resume.

I am not as concern about Armstrong because maybe the guy is great at managing players and the flow of the game. My fear has become all these candidates who might meddle in the game plan of the staff under him. The real emphasis which most are critiquing has nothing to do with the head coach. Wish we knew what coordinators these applicants think they can secure... it's difficult to look at the remaining roster and the draft even if we know the head coach till we have a grasp of the coordinators in my opinion

when next two are losing seasons, yeah, he will be gone if talent doesn't improve. He has been more good than bad with the record so he gets to pick the next coach.

Belichik called Shanahan to trade Garopolo. There was no way under the sun Garopolo could be obtained other than drafting him.

Yeah, Keim knows the upcoming draft and next coach will define his legacy.

In a horrid Cardinals history, the past decade has been above average. I agree no one is worthy of getting their statues built for their contributions but let's give them their credit for generating many memorable moments and yes, they rightfully earned a second chance to turn it around.

But, Armstrong will hold you accountable. Now if he could only use "Big Puss" in his rhetoric, we have ourselves a coach :)

O the cosmic irony...on the day that BA's recommended HC, STs coordinator Keith Armstrong, is in Arizona for a 2nd interview, Amos Jones gets hired as STs coordinator of the Browns.

If we were to poll which of BA's coaches would be the first to land a position with another team, in a million years, would any of us have predicted Amos Jones? It's beyond uncanny.

I think you are right. I think everybody should just quit watching the Cardinals and just watch reruns of Gumby instead

So Arians had final say in the draft? if that's correct, then Keim is more of BA's puppet than suspected.
An alternative take -

Draft decisions are collaborative. Major draft decisions are very collaborative with various members of the Cardinal mgt team having more influence than others depending on the nature of the decision being made.

BA knows QB's and, therefore, carried more clout than Steve re Mahomes. But on, say, a decision regarding Chandler Jones or Calais, SK might have had final say. (Or not).

Secondary point - This is all conjecture. Even rumors from reputable sources often lack necessary context.

Snarky.

I think we should just agree to agree on EVERYTHING Cardinal related, and sit in a circle and sing kumbaya.

I completely get that, but at the end of the day it's the GM's job to do what's best for the team, and drafting a QB is literally #1 priority. If reports are true that BA overstepped Keim in trading up for Mahomes/Watson...that is all on Keim for being extremely irresponsible. SK has avoided drafting the most important position for years, and regardless of what the HC 'wishes' were at the time...SK has to step up and be a GM at some point.

Sorry, what reports that BA overstepped Keim are you talking about?

Mahomes and Watson were both off the board by our pick and as I recall, we were set to draft Watson when we got jumped by Houston. You're implying that Keim wanted to jump into top 10 for either of them but BA over-ruled a trade up?

I've never seen this reported anywhere and folks on this board would have gone ape over moving up to pick either of 2 QB's that "would have been available in the second round."

Go Cards!!!
