By the vast majority.

Underrated by few/one.

Maybe, just maybe, the vast majority are correct and the one has to simply get over the fact that Rolle left and Rhodes was brought in to replace him.
Or maybe, just maybe, the one is right and the rest of the NFL seems to agree with him.

Rhodes was/is just overrated by many on here. The reason he isn't signed is because there was a strong safety market this year and Rhodes was about the 6th-7th best, maybe even lower, one available.
Goldson
Reed
Chung
Landry
Pollard
Quin
Phillips(when healthy)
Woodson
George Wilson
were all better options and available. That doesn't even include Delmas and Clemons who re-signed with their original teams.

I never noticed the Cards defense being better or worse whether Rhodes was in the lineup, or not. He's a solid player and made some nice plays for the Cards but he's very replaceable.

That being said, I'd rather have him back there instead of Johnson but I would not break the bank for him. A 1-2 year deal averaging about $1.5 mill is all I'd spend on him. I'm sure he thinks he's worth more and that's why he's still sitting at home.

Cbus, Chung is stinking it up here in Philly my man. The eagles safeties are a flat out embarrassment.

I figure Kerry is more or less retired. Thats fine. Hes got plenty of money. Plus hes pretty successful outside of football.

Hes a phenomenal talent, but hes not really a football player. He likes the bright lights of it all. Which is fine. He goes out on Sundays and can dominate in the secondary. But Ive never expected him to be like ray Lewis and go on and on and on.

If hes done, then he had a solid career and I enjoyed him while he was here.

He was very good while he was here, didn't miss Rolle at all. But not for $6 million in his last year. Rhodes's original guaranteed contract was from the Jets which we traded for.
We offered $3 million instead but he didn't sign. I think he values himself about 4-5 million which priced him out of the buyer's market this season. Tyrann's salary is like 12-15% of that.

Gay, straight, backwards, and forwards, the dude could ball!

Yeah, I miss him.

I'll just get this in before someone throws this complete straw man argument out. yes...he's not in the league, but did we have to go out and get someone who was SO MUCH worse then he was last year? I don't think that was necessary. if you're gonna move on from a guy who played good ball last year, shouldn't you at least try to get someone who can replicate that performance?

Free safety is low on our list of problems right now. The team is about to implode and it aint because of "Hollywood" Rhodes

no one's saying it's about to implode because it doesn't have Rhodes, but can you really deny we replaced a very good playmaking safety who could do a solid job covering the TE, with Johnson who can't do either? I mean, against the best TEs in the league last year, we held Gronk/Hernandez to 75 total yards and 1 td. Can you even imagine what those guys would have done to our safeties this year? We held Vernon Davis to 35 yards in the first game, 5 yards in the second game...Tony Gonzalez to 33 yards all of last year as well. This year, no matter who we play, they are all world and it's hurt our D.

and "Hollywood"...lol. all the guy ever did was play hard for us and make plays.

Hernandez by himself would murder us.

Too easy.

Well he didn't want to be here so I don't know why fans are still holding on to him. He's now priced himself out of job how that work out for you Kerry.

I'm holding on to the fact that we weakened our pass defense and did nothing about it. Team didn't want him for whatever reason? Fine...but if you cut one of the defenses best players and apparently the only guy on the team who could cover the TE you better not replace him with CFL material.

Absolutely.

Why let a player go when the options to replace him are below his performance lever?

Again, as has been stated many times in this thread, we didn't just let him go. He wanted more money than we were willing to pay. It happens all the time and it has nothing to do with who you're going to be bringing in behind him. If you met every player's financial demands you'd be out of money long before you filled every position. Overall, I have no problem with how they spent their money on defense even if we do look a little weak at a few positions.

really? Jasper Brinkley, Lorenzo Alexander and a pupu platter of CBs and Safeties doesn't seem like money well spent. Dansby and Shaunessey were good pickups, but other then that, it seems like we whiffed pretty badly on the rest of the defensive personnel we brought in, going for quantity over quality.

anonymous gay free agent story on bleacher report http://m.bleacherreport.com/article...s-plan-for-a-1st-openly-gay-player-fell-apart

Interesting article. I had fully expected several players to come out, in a show of unity, before training camps began last summer. I hope that when it happens, and it will, it's because someone made a conscious choice to make a statement and come out. And not because there's a scandal.

The heterosexual players should all just come out of the closet; whoever is left is either gay or bi. :D

Maybe Rhodes simply has too many other money-making options and just does not want to play any more.

If one or more does come out prior to training camp and is already under contract and if he/they get cut there is going to be some major grounds for a lawsuit.
