Dallas fans seem to think they can resign Stackhouse if he gets bought out? I thought there was a rule preventing that to happen for a fixed period of time so he couldn't go back to his original team.

Wait, Dallas fans don't have their basic facts straight? Really?

Btw if this happens the Mavs could be down to this lineup on Thursday.

PG-Barea
SG-Jones
SF-George
PF-Juwann Howard
C- Nowitzki

Bench: Jason Terry, Brandon Bass

What better time for Shaq to make his debut? Just the thought of being guarded man to man by either Nowitzki or Juwann Howard, heck those 2 probably couldn't guard him with a double team.

This would be a good trade for the Mavs if it came with a time machine. Kidd just doesn't have the wheels he had five years ago.

I wonder if Stackhouse would be interested in the Suns

There is a special rule that permits it.

edit: Scratch that, I think when you "officially" change teams in a trade--even when they immediately waive you, like in Stack's case--you also waive your Bird rights. Anybody know definitively?

The Nets are expected to buy out Stackhouse's contract immediately, which could enable him to re-sign with Dallas if he waits 30 days, and ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard reports that the Nets and the Mavs are likewise poised to complete a separate trade that will send swingman Antoine Wright to Dallas for a future second-round pick.

Fair warning:

Any Suns fan who brings up the age card when discussing the Kidd trade will bring karma of epic proportions to this team.

Yep. ESPN is reporting it as breaking news, as a done deal.

Well, scratch the Mavs off the list of teams I am scared of.

They weren't on that list since at least May 2007 so nothing really changed.^^

But I think Utah, New Orleans and such can cross them off now as well. The Mavs are also just 3 games ahead of the 9th seed Houston.

Well I hope Harris comes back in time to kick ass for my fantasy team. He should get more scoring opportunities in New Jersey.

Dallas is a team I've never been afraid of. The season Kobe outscored them through three quarters was enough. For whatever reason, Kobe kicks it up a notch when facing them.

Agreed, Suns fans and Lakers fans alike should all hold hands in a circle, sing Kumbaya, and celebrate our fallen enemy. :fans:

Not that I'm complaining, but if Marc Cuban wanted a Hall of Fame point guard who could run the break, wouldn't it have made more sense to just hold onto Steve Nash in the first place? BONUS: Nash is miles better as a shooter and doesn't treat his wife like a punching bag.

LOL, sure, but remember, Nash will probably be broken down by ... um ... the time that he's as old as Kidd is already ... um ...

Yeah he wouldn't pay Nash 10M$ a year on his contract and now he goes and sends valueable pieces for an older PG who makes twice as much, can't shoot and can't beat Western Conference teams in the playoffs.

Oh I was wrong about Dallas' potential lineup against us on Thursday since George is gone as well in that trade.

PG- Barea
SG- Terry
SF- Eddie Jones
PF- Juwann Howard
C- Nowitzki

Bench: Brandon Bass and noone else who is healthy except maybe Hassell who has gotten DNPs recently.

If they get Stackhouse back I actually like the move for them. Got to give something to get something and while Harris is good, watch Dirk's PPG go up. And keep in mind we don't have Marion to cover Dirk anymore(although I thought his impact there was overatted) so I think this is a good move for them.

Kidd will bring more mental toughness and much like O'Neal will be rejuvinated. Like the Suns this is a move for THIS year.

And Laker fans I imagine the PG matchup against Dallas will be lopsided in Kidds favor. That Kobe guy will help off set that though.

Playoffs are going to be exciting! I cannot wait:grabs:

Deal looks less worse for dallas if they can get back stack. Stein say he has to wait 30 days, any chance he goes somewhere else?

Wow. What a dumb move by Dallas. They just got smaller and now have a shorter bench.
