I always like to read him because whether you like him or not he has many informed connections. He has the Cards taking Tyler Booker, the Alabama guard. If you read the commentary he actually seems to indicate the Cards are likely to trade down if his prediction on the top is accurate. He earlier had the Cowboys taking Burden, not the widely anticipated Jeanty. I should add I think they take Jeanty. Kiper’s theory is there will be teams wanting to move up to get Jeanty. There is always time to get a guard. He also believes no Edge left is worth the 16th pick. He places Pearce, Green and Scourton later in the draft. Essentially the Cards would get their choice and another pick if they traded with Denver, for example.

The consensus pick on the Kiper/Yates 2.0 podcast has the CARDS selecting Mike Green DE/Edge.

Crosby has stated he wants to go to a contender though. We’re deeply into the pretender bucket at best until proven otherwise.

I have already said we will trade back. Monty doesn't have ammo this draft to maneuver like he wants. He had a great plan last year, just the picks aren't looking so hot

This draft and our draft position is interesting. There is a pretty solid group of players at CBs and WRs most likely to be drafted high. 1-2 QBs and a blue Chip RB also expected to go high. The remaining players rated at the top of the draft are Edge, DT and OTs.

If the DT and Edge players are gone, that will most likely mean that the highest rated players left are OTs. Do Monti solidify the O-line in that scenario?

Monti needs to stay on the defensive side for picks 1 and 2, then turn to the offensive line. An edge and then defensive tackle would free up linebackers, corners and safeties to put pressure on the other teams’ QBs and help slow down their passing game.
