I totally agree with Kiper on this too...

"Talk about whining and complaining -- this is at the top of the list," Kiper says.

KIPER: CASSEL > CUTLER

Cutler's complaining came about because the Denver Broncos tried to trade Cutler in a three-team deal that would have brought over Matt Cassel from New England. But when the trade fell through, Cutler started to complain.

Kiper says Cassel would have been an "upgrade" over Cutler and that Cutler is, to put it mildly, overrated.

"[Cutler] throws one pass, he's a Hall of Famer," Kiper says. "I've seen the media put him in the Hall of Fame. I had to run to the bathroom quick. It was making me ill. I've been hearing this overhype.

"This guy was overhyped at the combine, he was overhyped at Senior Bowl week, he's been overhyped before he was drafted. The media, they love Jay Cutler. Jay Cutler can do no wrong. I've been saying he's overrated since day one. Everyone's been pounding their chests saying, 'Oh, I love Jay Cutler, I'm a genius.' They have egg on their face now."

Kiper points out that Cutler has yet to lead the Broncos to a winning record or a playoff appearance. Also, Kiper says, "[Cutler] makes throws that leave you scratching you head, which I said on draft day when he was picked. Yeah, he's got a strong arm, but my daughter knew he had a strong arm. She could've written that report."

Kiper compares Cutler to Jeff George. "Jeff George had a great arm, and Jeff George had a lot of great games in this league, and people were putting Jeff George in the HOF early in his career. So I'm just telling you, this is ridiculous."

Also, Cutler once said he had a better arm than John Elway. Not surprisingly, Kiper isn't a big fan of that comment, either. "So what? Who cares? Why would you make a comparison to John Elway, that could be taken like you're in a position to critique the quarterback that is a legend."

I dont think anyone has HOF'd Cutler yet. He's only had a few good games.

Wasn't Kiper all over this guy in a good way during the draft?

Kiper........ He has been wrong so many times on draft day but I suppose ESPN needs someone to play the role.

I heard this interview on the radio. Jason Smith was shocked. Kiper seems to be getting more animated every year.

I thought Kiper was the one who said he was the best QB from that draft over Leinart and V.Young.

This article is more about Kiper than Cutler. Kiper isn't the "draft expert" anymore and he doesn't like it.

I haven't heard anyone claim Cutler is HOF QB. I don't think Cassel is an upgrade over Cutler and people who liked Cutler out of college, certainly don't have "egg on their face" He threw for the 3rd most yards and 7th most TD's in the NFL last year (in his 2nd full season).

Kiper...buh bye

I thought Kiper was the one who said he was the best QB from that draft over Leinart and V.Young.

As sad as it appears, he very well may be right.

Leinart, who knows
V.Young, who knows, potential mental issues
Cutler, like he said, has a strong arm, can make some throws, and although he hasn't done anything, he has started and played fairly well stat wise.

So as of today, one should expect a poll of which 3 qb's are the best to say 80 percent Cutler-15 percent Young -5 percent Leinart.

Now going forward, you could say Cutler is in the best position to be the best QB of those 3 when all is said and done.

May not happen like that, but at this point it's looking that way.

But just because you're the best out of those 3, doesn't mean you're the best when compared with Elway, Marino, Favre, Manning, Warner, etc. Those guys either have titles, or superb stats. All are in or probably will be in the HOF.

I have doubts any of the 3 from that class even sniffs a few votes out of the HOF committee (5 years?) after each retires respectively.

They might, and if one does, Cutler has the inside track. They've had 3 years so far. Other than Cutler, no one has been close, aside from Young's first few games or half a season or so.

Replace "Cutler" with "Leinart" and I doubt you would have so many pro-Mel responses.

i agree with Mel. I still remember Mayock gushing abut the rpm's on one of his throws and thinking to myself, what's that got to do with anything? Mayock wanted Cutler's love child. He was obsessed. That's another reason why i limp all those draft guys into one bunch. They're right some, wrong some. Which is no different than any of us. It's just that i've been right 91.3 % of the time :D.

Agree. But I continue to feel that if Whis was the HC back then, he would have picked Cutler for his arm and mobility. He might not be as good but more closer to Ben's ability than Young or Leinart. We will never know but just a thought.

Sounds like Cutler tagged Kiper's daughter and didn't have the common decency to buy her dinner or call her in the morning.

Well that would be simply because he is wrong. Leinart when he gets his chance will be a far better pro and leader than Cutler.

For what it's worth, I liked Cutler a lot too. Still did based on last year when he was forced to try to score on every possession, thanks to Shanahan's usual sucky defense.

Cutler's outburst shows immaturity I was not aware of before. We'll see. He was drafted by Shanny and was loyal to him. When Shanny was fired, Cutler's base of support was cut out from under him. (Matt Leinart has the same issues with Whisenhunt and has handled them better than Cutler, much to my surprise)

Isn't Kiper such a big man for harping on a two-year QB and feels like Nostradamus for declaring himself right about him being overrated. And winning is a team effort, put Peyton on the Lions and they still won't be a 12-13 win team.

For the crap Kiper gets from the fans, he's much better than Todd McShay.
