Well, I'm not trying to play devil's advocate on purpose, I was just posting my impressions of the story.

Listen guys, Chaplin told me not to tell you guys this...

What the hell is your problem? Do you think this is funny or clever? I know that we attack each other on this board once in a while, but you have a recurring penchant for personal insults of a sexual nature that is really disturbing.

Lay off. I'm sick of it. I've been on the fence about whether your previous incarnations should be banned, but not anymore. One more stunt like this, and not only will I be calling for your permanent dismissal, I will immediately ask that each new username you come up with be banned as well.

And Chaplin, it is very classy of you to attempt to find the humor in such a gutless attack. I'm impressed.

Mr. James,

That's really not funny. In fact none of this should be a laughing matter. I would recommend you being banned except I know you would just come back with another name tonight. There are some things that just aren't funny, and this is one of them.

Mike I am with you on this one......

Honestly, we all know that her story was scripted to sound like she was the ultimate victim, that did nothing wrong. Not that is bad......but it is painfully obvious. I mean hell, her statement was made via video tape.

This doesnt mean anything. The defense knew it was coming, and that is why they wanted to get her on the stand. A video tape isnt going to stumble over words, or mix up facts.

IMO this pre-trial was pointless, unless the defense has something they wanted to get out of it. It does not learn either way on Kobe's innocence or guilt. The media is just hounding over again because well.....that is what they do.

A funny editorial I read at maddox's site about the media blowing up on the SARS epidemic. Pretty funny

Thanks Eric, it kinda took me by surprise, and I assumed that it was a joke, but now that I remember that it is actually trh that did the posting, I'm not so sure.

It doesn't affect me one way or the other--even though I argue excessantly with you guys, you know me better than that (I hope!) :D

I just read the CNN.com article. I am completely failing to see what you and Mike are talking about. Perhaps the reason this sounds like every TV movie about rape is that the movies to a good job of depicting how it happens. I mean if I imagined the way I guess it happened (if he is really guilty) this would be it. Nothing in that story sounds made up to me.

Joe, I am just saying.it was scripted. They had 2 months to perfect her story, take out anything that could look bad.........

I am not saying that it isnt along the lines of what happened.but it sure as hell is the most polished version they could present.

Lets just wait till the trial and see what happens when both kobe and the accuser are on the stand..and cross examined by the attornies

That's what I was thinking. Does it have to be authentic only if it has some strange aspect to it?

Woah woah woah woah woah! I was completely just kidding! It was in no means a personal attack on Chaplin, AT ALL. Why would I do that? I simply figured that Chap, obviously being a die-hard Suns fan and somewhat of a father-figure (for lack of a better phrase) as well as a prominent figure on this board woudl be able to not take something like that so personally. And I figured that you guys would know that I wasn't serious about it, because we know Chaplin wouldn't do something like that. If I used somebody like F-Dog, a poster who is relatively new to this board, people might actually mistake me for being serious. Please, don't be so sensitive all the time guys. Sometimes, it's not necesary to blow everything completely out of proportion because there's no regular season Suns games going on, and you want something to get worked up about.

I certainly am not sure why I am getting all of this hostility, though. When have I ever, ever, said anything derrogatory towards anybody on these boards? You're talking about banning me for that post, which was made in completely good-will? It may not have been in good taste, but you can just say that, instead of threatening expulsion..

Listen Chap, and everybody else on this board, for that matter: If I have ever made derisory comments, direct or insinuated, towards any of you, I truly am sorry. I am a person who believes that these boards should be for talking about Stephon Marbury, Shawn Marion, or anything else concerning the NBA. Maybe the description should read, "Fight about Shawn Marion, Stephon Marbury, who is smarter than whom, who knows more, who is an idiot, who is childish, and anything else concerning the Suns, NBA, or fatness of people's mothers". I guess I might as well add a few :D :D :D :D :D s, cause again, I'm just kidding!

Really though, I am sorry, and I hope you guys understand that I didn't mean anything by that post except to add some perspective to the fact that it is very easy to make up a story and get people to talk about it. I don't know whether Kobe's guilty or not, and although I would like to believe he is innocent, I cannot truthfully say that he must be.

Mr. James,

I don't think anybody really thought your story was true. It was just tasteless given the serious nature of the Kobe Bryant situation.

And don't pretend to be so innocent. It's no secret that you are the real Hardaway, Ross Kelly, etc. I seem to remember a certain thread with numerous posts of yours that were reported to me by several board members. I believe you accused someone of sleeping with their mother.

Thank you for your good behavior since your latest name change (except for today's post).

WHAT! what??? On what do you base that? That's completely not true, and you know what, I'm sick of it. I remember 2 months ago some people were ready to have Kobe's head on a stick. I make a joke about it, and suddenly I'm the anti-christ? If you guys want to make up fake-scandals and make compeletly unfounded, slanderous statements about somebody, just tell me. I'll go back to the Phxsuns.net boards. I left there because it was completely unorganized, and filled with trolls, but this board isn't exactly what it "used" to be either, now is it.

lost in this debate...

... is the simple fact that the richer or more powerful, or more famous a man is, the bigger of a target they are for a clever woman with a plan.
One trick is to willingly allow a man (even encourage him) to leave DNA in locations that are illegal in the bible belt, then run to the authorites and cry sodomy.
In no way am i sticking up for Bryant - I'm a Laker hater through and through - he was a FOOL to ever put himself anywhere close to a situation like that, and he may have committed rape.
All the women I meet KNOW I'm nobody and don't have any money. I have more fun than most celebrities...

Everybody keeps saying that these athletes are targets. Yes they are. They could certainly be set up by a woman looking for money. However I think the chances that one of these guys doesn't know when to say, "no", is far greater than the chance that someone is trying to ruin him.

In 1 Corinthians, Galatians, and Revelation there appear lists of those who will not enter heaven...

Here's one:

"Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God." (1 Corinthians 6:9-10)

Sexually immoral would likely include everything from sex outside marriage to rape.

I am not saying they are equal, just that the result can be the same, according to the bible. Sin is sin.

To me personally, even if Kobe is found "not guilty" I will never support him as a player again, which is really hard considering he plays on my team. I will look on all my "Kobe" collectibles as pre-adultery-Kobe items or, heck, I may even get rid of them. I will never have him on a fantasy team of mine, etc. He is an adulterous piece of scum. The number of men who cheat on their wives (from Mike's post) is irrelevant and distracts from what Kobe himself did. He chose to commit adultery...and possibly worse (sexual assault)...

We live in a pathetic world when adultery is treated so lightly. Then again, the bible said things like adultery, immorality, children killing their parents, parents killing their children, etc would be rampant in the end days... Not preaching to anyone, just paraphrasing from the book.

From the story it doesn't seem like kobe is in big trouble yet. They didn't see any bruises on her neck which is a contradiction to the accuser saying he almost choked her. The rest of the story does make sense though. I want kobe to win so I might be looking harder for bright spots tahn you guys are. Maybe you guys are reading something totally different. i was reading that cnn article.

Using the Bible isn't what I was talking about, but in God's eyes, all sin is equal.

Anyways, I meant in society...men cheat all the time, sure, it's frowned upon, but do they really get in trouble?

Even if he did do it I kind of feel sorry for him. If he really thinks buying his wife a ring and getting a tatoo of his fam on his arm is going to save him thats pretty sad. I hope for his sake he didn't do it because he's sure convinced himself taht he didn't.

Yup - that was worth a read; most of his observations were right on. Three things. Firstly, in that photo of hong kong, i lived in that bulding that is closest to us (the one right behind the tall one) for about twelve years. Irrelevant but, if nothing else, I get a kick out of it seeing as i don't live in HK anymore.

Secondly - Hk was certainly home to some god awful tasting stuff. He mentions a couple but left out sweet corn flavoured ice cream (with real sweet corn!), crysanthemum tea (one sip and you'll puke), and 1000 year old eggs (eggs that are buried in earth until the yoke turns geen and the white bit turns grey - oh. my. god.) The squid crackers that he shows a photo of are actually pretty tasty.

As for the arcades he's right on again but who the hell is akuma? Doesn't he mean E-Honda?

Kobe is scum regardless of the verdict.

And the explanation that a lot of men commit adultery is weak and does not make it right. It just means a lot of men are scum.
