Anyone been watching CNN? I heard a little bit on the radio, but from what I have been hearing, it doesn't sound good for him.

Yeah, I've been listening and watching. I posted a semi-transcript of what was said over at phxsuns.net. Do you want me to copy it over here?

Nah, you don't have to if nobody else cares, the transcript is pretty brutal on its own...

I heard that Newsweek is doing a huge story on him right now, might already be out. They delve into what makes him who he is. How he was sheltered by his parents and never seems to connect with anyone off the court, being a loner, etc. blah blah blah. Adulterous piece of crap.

Yeah, I didn't want to post it because of the subject matter. Here is a link to a CNN article that has most of the info:

http://www.cnn.com/2003/LAW/10/09/bryant.case/index.html

BTW, sorry I haven't been posting much. The laptop I've been using wouldn't allow me to login here so all I could do was read. I was really mad because I had to use it during the Suns/NJ game the other night and I couldn't add my 2 cents in. I'm back on my regular computer now so I should be good until I have to use that laptop again.

No it doesn't. A pausible explanation for why she was in his room in the first place - one that does not hurt her credibility.
Of course, we still have to hear Kobe's side.

No it doesn't. So Stefan, do you feel now like he may indeed be guilty? Of course this is only one side of the evidence but it does seem pretty damning.

Sorry, I posted this story on the Politics board, should have looked here first.

Anyways, her account of the events seems fishy and contrived. It sounds like every rape scene you've ever seen on TV.

"Bryant told the woman repeatedly not to tell anyone, Winters said she told him. "

Please, I cannot believe Kobe was stupid enough to do that, and then tell her not to say anything. Just seems like a smarter guy than that.

He's rich, OF COURSE she'd say something.

I dunno...

Well...

Of course we already knew that there was a bad-sounding story. Without at least that, the case would never have gotten this far. Obviously the alleged victim has some reason to believe that she was raped, and so now we know what happened in her eyes. But I don't see this as particularly bad news for Bryant, because all it does is confirm what we've known all along -- that there is an alleged victim with a story.

I don't claim to know whether Bryant is guilty, but I do continue to think he will be acquitted. The NBA is a very powerful institution.

"Bryant told the woman repeatedly not to tell anyone, Winters said she told him. "

Bryant: Okay, girl, now you can't tell anybody about this?

Girl: No, I'm telling everybody!

Bryant: No, don't...

Girl: Yes!

Bryant: No!

Girl: okay, i won't

Bryant: Promise?

Girl: Yes.

Bryant: Pinky swear?

Girl: Oh, fine!

I dunno.. it all sounds plausible to me.

Mike - he was stupid enough to have sex with her in the first place - we all know that men usually don't think clearly when the "other head" is in charge.

Of course, cheating on your wife isn't stupid in the first place, right? :p

I'm not saying he wasn't stupid to have sex with her, all I'm saying is that the story sounds like any other story out there I've seen on TV.

I was just looking for something maybe different about her story that might make it seem more real to me.

Now, before ya'll jump down my throat, I don't believe he's innocent, or guilty. I'm just waiting for a verdict.

And in the meantime, also just commentating on what I see happening.

Please, that's not even close to the same thing as rape.

Millions of men cheat, I don't think millions of men rape.

How exactly do you want it to be?

Rape is rape, who cares if you've heard the story before--how much different do you want it to be? This isn't a movie--as much as we like originality, it doesn't really apply too much here.

Just from stuff I've read of crimes, usually there is something unique to each crime, or account. This one just seemed so much like a TV script.

Obviously I'm in the minority here, and I've stated my opinion, so I'm gonna wait for the evidence to surface before I talk about it again.

There are probably more rapists than we like to admit. Date rape is a common occurence and it is no less rape that someone who drags a lady into an alley with a knife at her throat. Rape is rape and no means no.

Mike, don't think we don't want to hear you. It seems you're just playing devil's advocate. OF course we disagree with you. :D

And if you wait long enough there will be others that feel the same as you and then you'll no longer be in the minority. ;)
