You gotta admit, though -- Paul tapping his left foot at 1:15 was definitely a non-basketball move.

The NBA will probably have to suspend Ringo, that orange jacket definitely violates the dress code.

That's awesome! I love the beatles.

Anyway, if anyone wants to see Shaq's non-suspendable act, it really is located here:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=BKqTBKXJQkY

That should have been about 5 games considering how the league has been treating Kobe.

I am starting to fall in love with Bynum. He has all the tools, but there are games in which he just disappears. He came back and made Shaq look silly.

Great clip.

Sometimes it is very clear he's just a kid out there. He's going to train with Dwight Howard this summer...I love that.

According to how the refs have been calling Techs this season, Bynum should've got a tech and delay of game for his slamming of the ball after the dunk. I could see Shaq getting suspended for a game for the elbow to Bynum's chest, but it's not like he hit him in the face like Kobe has been doing. Bynum also threw an elbow into Shaq 1st to create the whole situation so if you suspend Shaq then you might have to suspend Bynum as well. Personally, I think the refs got it right with the double techs because punches weren't thrown and it didn't escalate further than the elbows to the chest. If you think this is on the same level as Kobe then you need to take off your Purple and Gold colored glasses.

And he always has, including all those years as a Laker. LA fans countered with the claim that he also absorbs a ton of punishment from defenders trying to slow him down, so supposedly it evens out in the long run. I'm not sure I agree it's fair to use different standards for Shaq just because he's as big as a building but that seems to be the thinking.

That was last year, not this year, and slamming the ball down wasn't a tech last year (nor was tossing wristbands which is a favorite tech of refs this year).

If you think it is lesser than Kobe's elbows I have no idea what you are looking at...there is clear intent to harm in Shaq's move. Bynum didn't "throw an elbow" either...not even close. Shaq then held Bynums off arm, and threw a forearm shiver into his upper chest/neck area. With significant amount of intent.

It is arguable on every Kobe elbow that it is within the confines of the game. Shaq took a calculated swing at someone. They are not even CLOSE, and the fact that Shaq wasn't ejected and suspended is ridiculous.

shaq elbows people in the face going up for rebounds.....intentional or not. what kobe has done cannot be proven to be intentional. that's why i bring up shaq.

On another note....Lakers are getting obliterated by the Mavs

This is one of those games where I wish both teams could lose :barf:

yeah.....it's not exciting though.

If the Mavs are handling the LAkers easily at Staples, and we barely beat the Lakers on our home court. What does that mean for us against the Mavs on their home court??

That if we play like we are capable, we have a chance.

This team is more than capable of winning that game, but if we play like we have been playing the last couple of weeks, we dont have a ghosts chance in hell

It means absolutely nothing. Even if they had beaten the Lakers by 20, they would still need to play one of their best games of the season to beat the Mavs, considering how they've been killing teams lately. I still think they can do it though.

So the Shaq thing happened last year and you're expecting punishment now or wondering why there wasn't the same level of punishment for him as there has been for players this season?

Watching that replay, as Bynum runs back down on defense, he jumps into Shaq and leads with his forearm & elbow into Shaq's chest (he was so geeked up over the dunk that I don't think he realized what he did). Shaq elbowed him back more fiercely in the upper chest/ lower neck area. It didn't escalate past that and both were given techs. No punches were thrown, no brawl ensued, no one was hit in the face so it was treated like a shoving match (which it kinda was). Last year, the penalty for that was a double tech and only getting thrown out in extreme circumstances. Even with intent, he's not hitting him in the face for no reason and it was last year under different rules so get over it because it doesn't compare to the bullcrap Kobe is pulling.

Fortunately, it doesn't work that way. Otherwise...

The Suns just beat the Bobcats. The Bobcats have beaten Detroit twice, the Lakers twice, and the Spurs once. The Spurs beat Dallas once. Dallas has beaten pretty much everybody. Clearly, the Suns are the best team in the league.

Edit: Crap, I forgot something. Atlanta beat the Suns, but lost to Washington who lost to Memphis. Memphis is the best.(

I'd rather take elbows in the course of the game than have someone put a forearm shiver in my neck because they are upset they got dunked on by an 18 year old rookie. Sorry, but the concept of intent makes a HUGE amount of difference to me.

So you'd rather have a broken nose because Kobe's trying to cheat the system than have a bruised chest because you acted like a jackass and pissed off the wrong person? I wouldn't want either myself, but at least in the Shaq incident he was being provoked by Bynum (jumping up and down like he just won the NBA finals and then jumping into Shaq). What did Kobe's victims do to deserve elbows to the face? Oh that's right, they played good defense on him......those bastards, they deserved it (note the sarcasm).

That sounds like one of those Kevin-Bacon-in-five-moves-or-less things!
