But will the Philly fans ignore his matador impersonation?

Good question. Philly fans are tough to predict in some ways. If DRC has several picks and plays at his probowl year level then some will not notice his lack of tackling skills. If he plays like he did last year for us he will be hounded and booed and...

Brady and Cassel?
Garrard and Gabbert?
Bledsoe and Brady?
Orton and Tebow?
Vick and Schaub?
Favre and Rodgers?
Brees and Rivers?
Warner and E. Manning?

Let's be real about this.

Then there was Jim Hart and Neil Lomax too.

Ahhh those were the days!

Hey....anybody seen my bottle of Geritol? It's around here somewhere...

Are we better off? Yes definitely after last years qb debacle.
Are the Eagles better off? I'd have to say no at this point. I don't see DRC doing well in the Philly winter weather even as the #2 corner.

It'll be interesting to see how thick skinned he is. I'd bet not enough for Philly.

Any one got a shot of him flashing the grill?! :p Kids got a long way to go!

I think he'll play better this season because he'll have to play better. He could get away with his antics last year because we had so many other problems on defense but he'll stick out like a sore thumb if plays that way in Philly. And, you're right, the fans will be merciless if he duplicates his 2010 effort.

The Cards took a shot, we have no idea if they swung and missed or hit a GrandSlam.

But....Kolb wasn't a first round pick and everybody knows only first round QBs win the SB. OK lets see how we can make this work...DRC was a first round pick. We traded him for Kolb. That makes Kolb a first round QB. :koolaid:

I have my complaints about DRC and a 2nd, but I'm all in now. I agree with the contract, It's a good contract for a starting QB, And we are desperate, starving, cottonmouthed thirsty for a QB.

We got the top young QB available to build around long term. It is better than a 50/50 chance. We need to run the damn ball and give him a chance at successes.

I agree smelly...the compensation to get him was a bit high....but the deal is done now, he is our guy....so let's just go kick some ass now......addressing the run game will help him immensely...............and believe it or not.....finding a pass rush will actually help Kolb too.

Yes consistent QB play THIS year? Yes. I dont expect world beaters this year fro Kolb or this team, sorry. No OTA's, new DC, new QB...too many variables.

Considering our current QB situation (pre-Kolb) I wouldnt trade Schaub for Revis. It does nothing to help this team win now. (I wont say Orton b/c I dont know if i'd put him up there with Schaub)

But what baffles me is that you are basing whether or not the Kolb deal is good on how well the defense performs. I grade him on wins and losses and I will grade Whiz the same way. If Kolb in 2012 completes 60% of his passes, throws for 3000 yards, has a 4:3 TD to INt ratio id be OK with that, as long as the Cards win!

You really want Hasselback as a Cardinal? Really? The same guy who hasnt played a fulls eason since 2006? The same Hasselback who puts up 59% comp % 12td's and 17 ints?

I think we have a different view ont he importance of QB play

Are you saying that wins and losses has little if anything to do with how the defense performs? Are you serious about that? I'm not holding Kolb to a W/L standard; I'm holding him to a performance standard.

Just know that your expecations for a guy we just traded a Pro Bowl cornerback and a 2nd round pick for would have made him the 23rd-ranked quarterback in the NFL in passing yardage. He'd be tied with Ryan Fitzpatrick. He'd trail Chad Henne by more than 300 yards. He'd trail Donnie McNabb by nearly 500 yards.

I guess we just have a different view on what acceptable performance from the quarterback position is.

Give him the first year to get his feet wet. We didn't give him the big money but he has a chance to earn it. No probowl or playoff run expected next year, I just want to run the ball at least 40 or so % of the time. Let the backs discover their role. Horton has a lot to work with and a lot to do. I t aint on Kolb this year, more like an extended job interview that affects Whiz and everybody else in Cardinal land. When will we sign Fitz?

Which becomes a debate. If we do fail horribly, which is certainly possible. Do we go after Andrew Luck in next years draft?

I agree with this, we paid far too much for him. My money is that Skelton is the QB by third game. We will still win the division.

Barring injury I see no way this happens. There are very few sure things in life but this comes pretty close - Kolb will be given every chance to succeed. To pull him 3 games into the schedule would probably lead to an in-season firing of the head coach and that rarely happens in the NFL. As for paying far too much for him, the obvious response is that remains to be seen. It's not uncommon to pay a premium for the QB spot and we did just that. But if he grows into a top 10 quarterback, we'll have done well in this deal.

If you got Luck on your mind, just let me go watch the games for you. I'm a good seat filler.

Philly and Kolb didn't do bad too us, We mismanaged the QB position and gave up more in trade and treasure than any other team because our choices were micro limited, like a monkey boinking a football.

Can I take that bet. Skelton better worry about beating out Bartel and Hall for the #2 spot.

Some of the naysayers on this board will never be happy, never! One thing is certain in today's NFL......you cannot win without a good QB. That was made quite obvious last year. Getting that QB will never come cheaply. I applaud the Cardinal FO for pulling the trigger on this move. This trade has been in the works for a long time now. The Eagles had something that we desperately wanted & needed. The Eagles in turn, desperately wanted & needed a CB opposite Samuels. The Cardinals drafted Peterson, knowing that they were going to make this trade. The QB position is of greater value, hence the additional 2nd round pick. Regardless of what kind of player DRC may be, the Cardinals had to make this trade. I like the trade & I'm fine with the risk involved. If Kolb pans out, and I'm confident he will, it really doesn't matter what kind of career DRC has. We have OUR QB, so let's be happy & move on!!

Agree 100%

I'm not as worried as some about Kolb because I think Skelton will eventually be be the QBOF but it is a gamble the Cardinals had to make if they believe Kolb is their man.

You're not worried about giving up a pro bowl CB and a 2nd round pick for a player who isn't our QBoF?

Seriously???

This line of reasoning bothers me more than the money or losing a #2 or losing DRC:

Skeleator.....been there done that.

McNabb.....washed up.

Bulger.....doesn't want to come here.

T Jackson.....not a great passer.

Orton.....terrible in 3rd down and red zone situations.

Palmer.....retired.

VY....can't throw and has work ethic and off the field problems.

Hasselback.....getting old.

Seriuosly....whom else would some of you people want......Kolb is young with great character and work ethic and can make all the throws.....who out there that is available is better?

That's a "former" Pro Bowl cornerback, and the proverbial "bird in a tree" second round pick... ;)

You are right the Cards really had no choice. You might say they painted themselves out of a Corner.
