I know this is a thread hijack, but the Sixers just traded Dalembert to Sacramento for Nocioni and Spencer Hawes.

richer than we could ever fathom.

On the road they don't even need to use their own money. They get either $50 or $100(forget which) a day for food while traveling.
I think that was the point. That WAS not happening. Sarver refused to pay for the breakfast meals so Jason picked up the tab. I think the point here is that this is just one example. Paula reported "little things", suggesting that this was just one example of Sarver being cheap.

Where in the world did you get that tidbit of information?
Tell me again how the Suns get Whiteside and Henry in the 2010 draft. Did I miss something. Are you assuming that teams are going to be selling their draft picks. I know it happens but where are you getting this.
Paola Boivin reported it. Someone on one of the other threads linked it. She also said in the article "little stuff" which insinuated that was only one example.
Here is the quote:
"And the little stuff, such as Jason Richardson paying for teammates' breakfasts during the playoffs when a team normally would pick up the tab."
You should check the other threads. She wrote again this morning that it was game 1 of the portland series and that the team paid for everything after that game.
I just heard on KTAR that the palyers had to purchase their own tickets for wives and family for the playoffs. I know they can afford it but still this info gets out among the players. We are quickly becoming the last play you want to play in the NBA.
BTW, I have a friend who works for an NBA franchise and came out for a suns game and invited me along. He got me into the lower area where the pre-game meal was served for media etc. He was shocked when he was told you required to pay for the meal. He remarked that in his 10 years in the NBA he has never seen that.

Players buying tickets is the norm everywhere. Players get a certain allotment but have to pay for additional tickets. I'm not sure about the media but I knew someone who was part of the drum crew and they got free food.

but every breakfast after that was paid by the team, about $19,000 worth.
Only a bountiful feast will suffice. What the hell were they having for breakfast, caviar and truffles?

ugh... woulda could shoulda!
Nash
JJ
Marion
Stat
KT
Barbs
Raja
James Jones
That team, if everything worked out (yes, including getting JJ back and Amare not having micro-fracture)... would have MAULED people. I mean DESTROYED people... for at least 3 years.
sigh.
The way I understood the report of KTAR is that they got no free allotment but had to pay for any tickets to the game.
Didn't they get James Jones from a trade exception in the Joe trade? As we all know, if you take James Jones off that team, they aren't very good.
One wonders if they made players buy additional pairs of socks.
It seems so petty, but there is a SOP for good pro organizations, and SOP states you don't nickel-and-dime everyone because it eats away at confidence in the organization's commitment to winning. Colangelo went way overboard and spent money he didn't have (or the majority owners he represented), but he did have the right idea on how to run a pro organization.
This is how you run a bank, not an NBA team.
James Jones was far from a consistent contributor and the team likely would of looked to add front court help had things unfolded that way.
The fact that you think James Jones is the difference between that team being good and not very good seems quite odd to me.
I'm fairly certain the league not the team requires an allotment of tickets for the players(because they get them for away games as well).
