I supported Trading Kurt Thomas and 1st Rounder for PJ Brown and I believe I'm the one guy who thinks KT is overrated but good luck getting rid of him now (Draft is over)... and then finding replacement or two lol

I have a vague memory of some posters wanting to dump Thomas last year, but they were people I never take seriously anyway.

Was that during your self-imposed exile? I remember wishing I had joined you for a time ...

At this point I would prefer they did not dump Kurt Thomas if it means including that Atlanta draft pick. If they want to use their own draft pick (I don't think it will get the deal done though) to move him then go for it. They better get PJ Brown though, and they really should use a little bit of that savings to nail down Grant Hill or somebody else.

Keep Kurt!

He was among the few bright spots on our roster in the Spurs series. If not for DA's religious insistence to show the world that his style could win it all, we might have won the series with the players we have. As he said that on average our roster was more talented than Spurs. But the fact we lost, is squarely on how relatively ineffectively our players worked together as a team against the Spurs as a team.

I actually think we'll see more Kurt Thomas this year when it makes sense. Still, I think coach Mike will be somewhat cautious with his minutes.

Perhaps I'm being overly optimistic, but I believe we are going to see a far less obstinate Mike D'Antoni this upcoming season.

That's my hope too! We also need to be more prepared for the situations when the other team manage to really bother Nash. It's not like that the talent on this team is not enough to win against most teams without Nash (handling the ball). It's just they never work enough on that.

I keep hoping Kerr will be a good influence. He's been around winning programs and can talk intelligently about bringing shooting specialists off the bench. :D

I expect they will be putting a lot of thought into what went wrong with the Spurs series. D'Antoni has always believed that he can impose his will on opponents using speed ball, but it does not work with the Spurs and lost the team Game 1. Giving KT more minute with Amare during the season would be useful as would developing and offense that deals with having their three point shooting stiffled.

I dont see the rationale in keeping an 8 million dollar vet to be the secret weapon against one team. Granted, he made duncan work for his points, but he still got them.

He'll be used more when Amare gets into his inevitable foul trouble. I hope he will, at any rate. We can't always replace Amare with Boris.

No way. Kurt has to stay, with or without PJ Brown. Kurt Thomas is one of the toughest guys in the league. Has been for years. The problem is that he is not utilized properly. When you are up against the Spurs, you have GOT to play Kurt Thomas.

In the playoffs, I'd have to agree. During the regular season, the Suns can probably win close to 60 without either.

Last year there were people saying the Suns should dump KT because they got to the WCF without him the year before. After six months of saying "wait til they play the Spurs", it was a revelation that "yes they needed him and another one too".

I think it would be invaluable to always have a big guy/tough guy to be on the floor to grab rebounds and hide Amare's defensive weaknesses. And not just against Duncan, we'll also need him the off chance we face Boozer or any other of the Wests big men.

That's a misconception resulting how DA have the team play. We can win the same amount if not more games by using KT say 25 min a game on last year's team. The only difference would have been that the wins would come in a little slower fashion than DA liked. It's not like trackmeet is the only way this team can win games.

PJ pluss KT is an upgrade.

If we sign Hill its an upgrade.

KT,PJ
Amare, Diaw
Marion, Hill
Bell, Barbs
Nash, Barbs

Thats a deep solid team. That can still go small.

Amare
Marion
Hill
Bell
Nash

If only D'Antoni would adapt to having a second big man play alongside Amare all the time, he wouldn't get into that inevitable foul trouble.

That is much more important than the benefits derived from using Marion as an undersized Power Forward.

And that chemistry, of course, must be established during the season, rather than as a 'seat of your pants' move during the post-season.

I agree Kurt SHOULD stay, but if it comes down to him or PJ i'm taking PJ. he's just a little bit bigger and more complete offensively
