we should expect nothing less. It’s our story always. But if it’s on the 1 week side of the house he should be back this coming week right? That’s 10 days of healing?

Had plenty of those during my soccer career. If it is not a really severe one he will be fine in 10 days. Just don't expect a lot of rushing from him.

This appears to be where the injury occurred.

1 to 3 weeks is the textbook healing time for low to mild ankle sprain. Sounds like media found out it's mild ankle sprain & checked Web MD for recovery. I'm sure he will be good to go after 10 days if swelling goes down unless it's worse than wants been reported now. 2 of next 3 are division games & not something to take lightly even with both teams been under. 500

Its why I was so frustrated by Kliff calling a Kyler read option play there. Just no need whatsoever. We were rolling throwing the ball and Kliff learned nothing from the Texans drive before the end half. He cant protect himself as well as running on his own.

The entire sequence at the end was bad. With less than a minute left, 3 of our last 4 plays were running plays, chewing up timeouts and forcing us into a throw only situation on that last play.

All that & it would have still gone down as 1 of the greatest drives in Cardinal history if AJ heard audible on last play.

No offense, but thats the kinda talk of someone who has gotten use to this team being average or bad the last several years.

I could actually get the argument if we've been great running it all year. No its been crap. He was averaging just 2.9 YPC on the year. Its a short week where he's been beat up. You have a 70% throwing QB and you're running him on a option play that doesnt even have someone blocking the safety which slows him up to get his ankle sprained. The QB has voiced that he doesnt like those plays.

If Kyler was crap throwing the ball yes its football. Compensate for what you're not good at yet. We have him throwing with the best in the league so you treat him like other pocket QBs.

On a 2nd and 1 when we clearly could have been throwing to the end zone. Just awful to be playing for the yard.

I keep replaying this in my mind. The receiver was all alone over there. Wasn't catching the ball an option.

I would like to hear the specific diagnosis. The advertised recovery period would be short if we’re looking at a syndesmotic injury, commonly called a high ankle sprain. I’ve watched the tape several times and it seems possible, though not probable as there is little twisting. Playing on a sprained ankle is risky. Few injuries are more easily aggravated. Rushing him bsck could put him out for the season. With 7 wins in the bank the Cards can be conservative. If Hopkins fully recovers, the Cards could win 2 of the next 3 with McCoy taking the snaps, inactivate Murray and use a few Wildcats with Streveler. Even if they only win 1, hopefully Murray would return after the bye. The Cards should still get to 11 wins, which should put them in the playoffs.

Problem is the corner got up so close + its the short side of the field that he could easily break on the ball.

If we were intent on getting the half yard we could have just brought in Conner.

I think Kyler was thinking end zone as well as the fans. For me an option play is just that... reading every option.

If you look at AJ Green (who hasnt shown the ability to come back for the back heh) the corner is breaking on that ball.
