Look, it's freaking simple on that last play and that's Green screwed the pooch. He should not even need a audible from Kyler to know he's the prime option one on one when the defense aligned for that. We are all ticked because we also know Green would have caught that because the man can catch if he only would have turned around and did not have a brain fart with the CB already boxed out

No offense, but thats the kinda talk of someone who has gotten use to this team being average or bad the last several years.

I could actually get the argument if we've been great running it all year. No its been crap. He was averaging just 2.9 YPC on the year. Its a short week where he's been beat up. You have a 70% throwing QB and you're running him on a option play that doesnt even have someone blocking the safety which slows him up to get his ankle sprained. The QB has voiced that he doesnt like those plays.

If Kyler was crap throwing the ball yes its football. Compensate for what you're not good at yet. We have him throwing with the best in the league so you treat him like other pocket QBs.

As of Thursday: 245/1030 - 4.2 (4th in League)

Anyone else think Kyler looks a LOT slower when he's running this year? First two years he was the fastest guy on the field, now I think Chase Edmonds absolutely smokes him in a footrace. He's definitely bulked up a ton. Hopefully that makes him less injury prone but I think its just resulted in him taking more hits when there's an Oline breakdown.

These kind of responses just derail convos simply to try and prove the other poster is wrong while totally ignoring content. It’s abundantly clear he’s talking about Kyler’s rushing on designed runs. You know why that’s clear? Because He specifically notes Kyler’s YPC right after the sentence you bolded.

He looks closer to first year. I wasn’t wowed by his legs that season after all the talk of his generational talent. But Last year was different. Before the injury, he was lighting on the field and it seemed like he got the corner on anyone and his burst at the beginning of runs was electric.

Def looks a half step slower this year.

And really still irrelevant imo. The whole reason we drafted and took Kyler was because of the dynamic athlete and dual threat he is(or is supposed to be) that defenses have to account for. We were told he’s a transcendent athlete. The same people cooing for him(they were right I was wrong). Now are saying we all of a sudden should not be using him in an RPO capacity at times? Kylers ability with his legs is what makes him so incredibly dangerous and now they want to eliminate that danger unless it’s a broken play? Makes zero sense. We can’t just coddle Kyler all the time. We need to use him as the weapon he was intended when drafted.

Plus it's all a huge over reaction. A single report from a guy that was wrong just a few days ago is hardly concrete. I'm sure he's tweeked it a bit but I'm also sure he will be fine.

Its all good. Hopefully Kyler gets healthy and we get back rolling.

I called that out during the game. Definitely slower.

Its why I was so frustrated by Kliff calling a Kyler read option play there. Just no need whatsoever. We were rolling throwing the ball and Kliff learned nothing from the Texans drive before the end half. He cant protect himself as well as running on his own.
Was it a call or an audible? How do you know?

I don’t want him running unless he has no other options.... if kingsbury calls another qb run play this season he is an idiot.

That’s been my stance for a while now and I’m sticking with it
This ain’t madden.... this is the nfl and the time of your qb leading your team in rushing passed fifty years ago.
Pro quarterbacks pass the ball.
Nfl quarterbacks pass the ball

It’s their job.

The quarterback is never supposed to be in a situation where he might take a hit. This is why teams pay 40mil a year to five guys whose entire job is to..... wait for it.... MAKE SURE THE QUARTERBACK DOESNT GET HIT!!

To put 'it' to rest. We were unlucky on the Green missed opportunity. 9 times out of 10 that ball isn't intercepted. Most of time when the WR isn't looking the ball either sails over or by him, or hits him in the back or head and falls to the ground. Kyler's pass just happened to sail to the proper side of Green's head to where the DB hands it the ball and slowed it down to where he could make a juggling catch. Most of the time that would have been just a bad play by Green and an incomplete pass, and it then being 3rd down.

A few different stars had to be aligned just right for that play to turn into an interception instead of just an incompletion. At least that is my cosmic opinion.

He does not look a lot slower to me, simply more cautious when running and is getting dragged down more in the backfield while scrambling because he's actually reading the defense now looking to pass instead of just take off

The way it deflected off his hand was pure luck but it was good concentration after that… 9/10 times that’s a incompletion.

He's still fast, but I don't think he's capable of making these plays right now. Which makes sense to me as he's definitely put on weight. His belly is just a lot bigger than it used to be and he looks more muscular in general. You are right about him being much better at keeping his eyes down field.
