There's like 10 QB's there that are better than Kyler.

Dak, Hurts, Daniels, Mayfield, Goff, Love, Darnold, and everyone in our division.

That's a matter of taste. None of them are presumptive MVP candidates. That's my point. Obviously Kyler is 13-28 in November, December, and January. It's happened under two coaching staffs.

But I'd rather be in a group with these guys than Burrow, Mahomes, Allen, and Lamar.

Cousins, Fields, Pickett, etc, are all Hell Nos.

Would rather just draft a rookie in Round 4.
Would you rather have Clayton Tune? Why not?

Kyler derangement syndrome run amok once again.

Guys - it’s okay to criticize Kyler without heaping praise on proven mediocrity like Brock Purdy or Geno Smith or Kliff as a head coach.

13-28 after Halloween. Just awful.

That’s not what you were trying to say. You were trying to make a point about his character without knowing anything about the background of his transfer.

Had he stayed with Sumlin he never would’ve gotten the opportunity to sign that contract.
The biggest issue I had with his transfer decision is that he prioritized being able to play baseball over being able to start. Baker was well established and not going anywhere.

They also lied to him during his recruitment. They told him they had no issues with him playing baseball and were fully behind it. Then his freshman year he and Kyle Allen were competing at QB, he was the backup, then started 2 games, and then Allen replaced him again. When he transferred to OU his dad was pretty vocal that they did it because TAM had made it pretty clear as long as Kyler played baseball it was going to impact his ability to be the QB. He's been pretty open about it in the past, he was all set to play infield for TAM and then the football coaches started implying it was going to impact his winning the QB job.

His dad was a huge issue when he was younger. People really ought to read up on Kevin Murray, a BIG reason there was so much skepticism on Kyler in college was because of his dad. His dad flaked on EVERY situation he was in his entire career. Kept insisting he was committed to the situation he was in, and then would bolt. I'm committed to football, then but I'm going to play baseball etc. So when the dad appeared to control his recruitment and then his transfer it was a huge red flag for Kyler
Kyler prioritizing baseball has always been a critical issue.

The only thing that gives me even a little hope for Kyler is how much better Baker has been ever since he was signed by a team with an elite OL and two elite WRs. Mike Evans and Godwin are king makers. Of course Baker has always been a lot tougher than Kyler, and a much better leader than Kyler.
Baker plays football because he love sit. Kyler plays football because he is good at it. That difference matters.

True but Geno Smith has been a better QB than Kyler over the past 3 years. Dude has 26 wins to Kyler's 13.

Kliff is 100% better suited for the OC role, but his offense isn't being mocked in Washington with a rookie QB like it was in AZ with Kyler.

Purdy has been on a stacked roster for sure and with one of the best offensive minds in the game. I can understand both those who back him and those to are skeptical.

Don’t think Clayton has an NFL arm. I would draft someone like Jaxson Dart.

If they could find a trade partner I'm confident they would eat the $33m in dead money.

The problem is that I don't see many options for them to replace him. There are players I'd roll the dice on for upside like Kenny Pickett, rather that than another year of Kyler, but otherwise the draft sucks and you can't really sign a FA like Darnold unless you already moved Kyler, which is unlikely.
It might be interesting to see what happens in Minnesota as well. If Darnold wins a playoff game or two, they may look to re-sign him and trade McCarthy.

If I am moving off of Kyler, I am signing multiple vet QBs on short term deals and planning to move up for a QB in 2026. I wouldn't waste a 4th on Dart personally and I wouldn't waste my time on Tune.

I know people don't believe me, but Minnesota is not trading McCarthy outside of Darnold taking them to a Super Bowl and even then...I don't know.

If he’s available in the 2nd or 3rd I don’t see why you dont take a flyer on him. He has the intangibles Kyler lacks. Stands tall in the pocket, takes hits, steps up into his throws, and runs through people like Josh Allen. I don’t know if he’s a first round talent or even worthy to be a future starter in the NFL, but he looks fun at Ole Miss.

Because we still need to build the team up.

Darnold is beloved right now. He’s getting the same treatment Detroit gives Goff.

And I wouldn’t want him running through people like Josh Allen. He’s just 6’2 lmao

Vet QBs like who? I wouldn’t waste time watching this team(or offense) if we sign a Cousins or Fields.

My thinking to 2026 qbs will have more 1st rd grade worthy guys. What vet can you see that will have us still battling for a playoffs spot Kirk maybe a year removed from Achilles does him good?

But Detroit didn't give up multiple 1st round picks for a rookie QB who beat out Darnold in the preseason for the starting spot. If anything, they will franchise Darnold and have them compete for the starting spot again next year,

I would rather watch Cousins or Mac Jones or Daniel Jones or pretty much anyone else than Tune or Jaxson Dart next year (you can add Fields to that mix). The issue with moving off Kyler this offseason is that you will almost certainly be downgrading at QB. However, if you can get a 1st round pick for him, you have to do it. (of course purely hypothetical)

And the 2026 QB class looks like Allar(who is already polarizing) and……Klubnik? I’m pretty sure Arch will stay all 4 years. Sellers is dynamic, but I know most still have questions about his passing

If you have watched Cousins this year, I really don’t think you would rather watch Cousins(& that’s with a really good offensive supporting cast too!). Mac Jones & Daniel Jones? Meh, I guess.

We wouldn’t know until Monti tries.

If the Cardinals want to part ways with Kyler it would have to come in a trade for a top 5 pick.

They would have to love a qb in this draft. The Giants, Titans, Jets and the Raiders are all candidates looking for a qb. I think any one of those teams would trade their 1st pick for Murray.

As we get closer to the draft we will see heaps of praise on these qb’s entering the draft. I’ll admit I don’t know a thing about any of these guys.

I don’t see us moving off Murray for a high pick and signing Fields or Picket or Cousins. There would have to be 1 or 2 Qb’s that simply blows the socks off of the pundits. Anything less would appear to most as a step backwards. Sanders? Ward? Others?

All that being said I believe we ride the Murray train. If suddenly it works, great. If it doesn’t trade a boatload of picks to move up in the 2026 draft. But that’s going to cost a huge amount of picks, something that MO doesn’t seem to embrace.

If you're a traits guy, why wouldn't you bring in Trey Lance, Zach Wilson, and Clayton Tune and let them all compete for the job?

Also, did you know that Jack Plummer, who grew up in Gilbert but is somehow not related to Jake Plummer, is "playing" in the NFL?
