Kurt Warner, Cardinals legend & Hall of Famer, Kurt Warner, is barely scratching over 20K videos on Film Breakdown & you guys really trying to convince yourself more people care about that than athletes’ personal vlogs.

I mean it would have been better if Kliff involved more NFL under center stuff to help with his development. However, that was still a QB friendly offense. Petzing's offense isnt QB friendly imo...but this is year 6. He should be good enough to where we can complain about Petzing but its not to the point where the offense is trash. Idk, its disappointing. Herbert's got a subpar OC imo, but no one doubts him.
I don’t believe Herbies OC is sub-par.. they just started off extremely run heavy but that approach has changed vastly as the season progressed (as should have our offense).

I do agree with you, Kyler should be able to complain.. but from a media standpoint he would get killed - really don’t think he needs to give them anymore ammo.

Kliff isn’t running the same offense overall than he did here. He learned quite a bit from his mistakes (which surprises me as he refused to change his game plan here). I think Kliffy realized that he wasn’t going to be the UNLV Running Rebels Of the early 90s as the nfl is too fast and you aren’t going to wear out pros.. they’ll catch on your running the same 3-5 routes in the same area with the same players on the field and adjust accordingly.

We don't need videos showing him going above and beyond prepping for the mental aspects of the game. Something, anything, that he puts out to indicate he does this, would put to bed a lot of doubts. He (and his PR team) will absolutely be aware of this and would have done so already, IMO, if he had been doing so.

Well, I mean the film breakdown videos are (1) boring, (2) niche (as a Cardinal fan I don't have a lot invested in Cousins benched is coaching partly to blame, and (3) long. Most of Kurt's breakdowns are 30+ minutes and not for the same audience.

Kyler and his team obviously have a different goal with these videos. He's obviously getting a lot more engagement from his "Day in the Life" videos than his Q&A.

Keyword is “We” here because I believe what you’re saying is not aligning what with BritCard is saying or even daves who has also said similar things.

With Kyler starting all 16 games thus far, there’s no reason that any of these dudes should be ahead of him.
Like this season, or in the future?

Jared Goff has almost 4400 yards passing and 36 TDs. His team is 14-2.
Sam Darnold has over 4100 yards passing and 32 TDs. His team is also 14-2.

These two quarterbacks are playing in the last game of the regular season to determine who will be the #1 seed in the NFC.

Jayden Daniels has eight more TDs and two fewer INTs than Kyler. His team is 11-5 and hosting a playoff game.

It shouldn't be a mystery why these guys are getting shine. Kyler is arguably the third-best player in his offense.

Someone asked for the quote, I gave it.

Also, the 2024 take is even worse than the 2021 take because if he is actually now watching film like a madman and STILL sucking this horrifically down the stretch, dude probably has zero shot to ever be a winner.

don't bring that grown kid back - he's too messy

even with a good cast - gets no emmy

he leads our team in sacks - him and petzing

rip that tape off fast - that's what I'm stressing

Tell me you know nothing about social media without telling me you know nothing about social media.
Kyler's biggest career criticism has been he doesn't study enough and plays COD too much, and on starting his own YT channel he hasn't thought "I'll put this myth to bed and show how much I study in a week". It would have been the first thing I did, even if it was BS and I made it all up.

He could have made a whole video about it and fans would have lapped it up. The media would have lapped it up. It would be his most watched video by far.

The fact he hasn't even touched on it once, but thinks we should watch him workout and get acupuncture, speaks volumes.

Or watching another dude workout or get acupuncture. Dumb idea for a qb that doesnt win.

Daves,

Thanks for this trip down memory lane. Now, how about something that supports his lack of attention to the details of his position since Monti and Co. arrived on the scene?

One word, one sentence, one paragraph, one raised eyebrow.
We'll probably have to wait until he gets Gannon and Ossenfort fired for the leaks to come out. Or maybe, like Jake Plummer, when Murray gets to his next team he'll admit that he never put in the work while he was with the Cardinals.

It’s not like Monti has been knocking it out of the park when it comes to Free Agency and Drafting. If he receives the pink slip, it’s him and him only. Let us not give him excuses.

Im saying in general, if he starts all games in a season, the reasonable expectation is that he's a top three QB in his conference. Is he even Top 3 in his division? That's a legit conversation.

I actually do not want to defend Kyler, but man some of you guys make it hard saying nonsensical stuff like that.
Yeah. I have landed in the "he has made film/study changes and it hasn't worked OR he hasn't made any changes and it still isn't working" space. I have my own personal thoughts but ultimately, they are 100% unfounded speculation. I am happy to settle in the space that whatever he is doing now isn't good enough for what I want from the QB of the Cardinals. I have no clue if he can do more and if even would matter.

Agreed that most people on this board are not his target audience. We are Cardinals fans. Kyler is trying to cultivate Kyler fans. (which is something I think board members will struggle with because we are fans, but that is not what his brand is trying to cultivate and connect with.)

idc whether or not kyler is filming himself watching film - idc if anybody would or wouldn't want to watch it

if they literally aren't kicking him out of the film room every night when the building closes then he just doesn't care - because all the physical tools are there

but we haven't heard anything like that - from him - or from anybody

Because more people care about the emotional reaction to football than the actual Xs and Os. There are 3-4 daily Cardinals podcasts, I don’t hear anyone breaking down Xs and Os. It’s more “Marvin is soft, he runs poor routes, Kyler is going to be here next year because of the options, etc.”

No one is breaking down the performance of Michael Wilson and Greg Dortch on Mills routes, or asking why certain pass rush moves by Lopez wind up with him pushed back 2 yards. That doesn’t get play, the emotional reaction stuff does.

Yea, I don’t think is true at all. Those videos really just show what his chef prepared more than anything. Hell, I bet that UCLA camp video showed more of working out alone than eating food in all of the videos combined.

Kyler also has an Oklahoma fanbase. He also has a twitch fanbase. He most likely has natives in Texas as well. Korean natives. So, no, it’s not just Cardinal fans.

The film breakdown part is so fascinating that I’m seeing Derrick Henry & Justin Jefferson(individually) workout videos have more views than Hall of Famer Kurt Warner 20 film breakdown videos combined. Hell, A Day in the Life(which are pretty much of what Kyler’s videos are anyway) of Rome Odunze has more views than a lot of Kurt Warner film breakdown videos combined.

Yea, sorry, but it’s not that fascinating to “most” fans.

Again, this assumes Kyler is doing it for views/money, he's not. He's doing it for his brand, which is better served by a video of him studying.

A week in the life of game prep would not be at all dull.

Nobody is suggesting a 30 minute film breakdown of Kirk Cousins problems by Kyler Murray. Strawman crap.

A "Prepping for the game' video that shows a typical week that includes coverage of how he studies would fit easily with what he's doing.

It's very strange if/that you can't see that these are exactly the same.

One example of video study being visually compelling is from the Hard Knocks: In Season. It might have been episode one, where Colt McCoy was alone in a hotel ballroom watching film the night before the Mexico game.

It doesn't have to be "Let me tell you how I see weaknesses in safety X". All it needs to be is him showing his setup and saying "Watching film, studying opponents is really important to me. I probably spend 10, 15 hours a week here. In game A I learned B from film and used it in situation C." People emphasize what they care about.
