I'd say its 80/20 he gets a HC job.
I don't know, there are a lot of candidates out there that have as much or more on their resume. He will certainly get interviews both because of the Rooney rule and because teams will at least have some interest, but I would say it's closer to 50/50.

We only lose him if he gets HC job, which may or may not happen
If I'm Horton's agent I'm telling him to get that pay raise and promotion, and to stay in Az with the defense that has given him this NFL buzz. If our defense has another awesome year, he can pretty much pick where he goes instead of just being Roonied. I hope the Walrus brings it on offense and we keep Horton around the way the Steelers keep LeStud.

Reid is my number one choice but don't listen to me...I wanted Buddy Ryan and Denny Green as well.

Would love to keep Horton as DC or get another steeler 3-4 guy that will run the same system.
Maybe 3rd time is the charm with a Chubo-Wubo?

Was Hekert really all that impactful n Cleveland?

He didn't have a lot of time to do anything in Cleveland. Plus, that organization is even more of a mess than AZ.

Overall, Heckert has a heck of a resume. Especially when paired with Reid.

Over the course of Heckert’s 19-year NFL career, the teams with which he has been associated have experienced 14 winning seasons, won eight division titles and made 14 postseason trips, including six Conference Championship game appearances (1992, 2001–04, 2008 seasons), in addition to representing the NFC at Super Bowl XXXIX following the 2004 season.

This Dawg is what I was thinking from Horton's side of things. He just moved up to being a DC, has done a damn good job in a limited amount of time. He has the players in place to continue to be successful and get more experience. If Reid is willing to have him as the DC, he could probably learn a thing or two from Reid about the QB position that Whis never could. Stay and have more success being a DC, and Ray will no longer just be a possible Rooney rule, he will be a prime prospect to coach and be successful with options to choose his team.

They lost their entire starting Oline this year due to injury and still had a better offense then we did. He has with regularity had one of the best offenses in the league. Even with a god awful year he had a career winning percentage of around 60%.

What makes everyone here so certain that Horton would be a good HC? Yes he's a good coordinator but that is far from a certainty that he would make a good HC. Hell all the coaches fired the past few days have been damn good coordinators but bad head coaches

Im not certain about Horton being a good HC, but I dont think Reid is good HC at this point in his career. I dont like retreads who have spent the last several years looking like the game has passed them by.

Again, I dont get how anyone could watch the way the Eagles have mismanaged one game after another and regularly collapsed and still be excited about landing Andy Reid. People are going to pull their hair out with how frequently he bobbles away games with bizarre use of timeouts, the clock and getting woefully outcoached in terms of adjustments.

For those asking about the "Rooney Rule". Per Xtra 910's Mike Jurecki, the Cardinals interviewed Ray Horton this morning.

They are moving fast.

@nfldraftscout: Sounding more and more like Andy Reid and Tom Heckert to Arizona with Ray Horton staying as DC. Hearing Pat Shurmur as OC potentially.

Reid could easily put together staff with guys like Juan Castillo, Pat Shurmur, Brad Childress. Also, Reid could work with Kolb if need be

I take Reid for his career as a whole. I have watched the Eagles. I have heard McCoy, ol Shady say it was more about the players letting the team down and not Reid. I see a man who endured a family tragedy of recent and show conviction in the face of that and a harsh Philly environment. I see a guy who likes to draft OL. I see a guy who is noted as a good judge of QBs and developing them. I see a pretty darn good coach for the situation the Cards are in personally.

Does Reid have enough energy to come into the NFC West and compete with the coaches of the Niners, Rams and Seahawks?

This would make the NFC West 4/4 on coaches under the Bill Walsh coaching tree.

if this squad somehow ends up with Reid with Horton running the D, I can't see how ANYONE could really be upset with how everything went down.

One of the biggest advantages to Reid will be his ability to assemble a staff. No other candidate will bring the group Reid will. The Bidwills will be paying a lot of $ for this week so the whole Bidwills are cheap thing needs to be officially put to rest.

Not to mention his ability to get production from the QB. Soon the Cards can be the team fleecing others out of draft picks for QBs they don't want.

PLEASE tell me he wouldn't try to get Vick to AZ!!!

...dave

you'd have to think he was over that experiment, right? I mean, he did bench his ass pretty much for the second half of the season.
