Sounds like he'll get somewhere in the area of $13-million+ per year from the Seachickens.
==========================================

Several league sources anticipate the contract will be worth more than $13M a season when finalized, with the Seahawks reluctant to go to $14M thus far. The corner market has undergone a reset in recent years, with Revis' $16 million-a-year deal with Tampa seen as an outlier. Unable to trade that contract, Revis was released and signed with the Patriots for what amounts to a one-year, $12M deal.

Seattle signs him to a deal like that and gives big money to Wilson they are going to have cap trouble going forward. I just dont think you can pay a cb that much imo. There are two positions worth that kind of money and thats because they can effect every play and that is QB and an elite pass rusher thats it.

I thought this was the biggest news of the day, I'm surprised more people don't have an opinion on it. It absolutely affects the Cardinals and PP...but most importantly I think it affects Fitzgerald. We're keeping PP and there's no doubt we can't pay them both. It definitely sets the market for Corners and it's foolish to think PP won't be in that ballpark. He's simply got more physical tools to work with than Sherman even if he isn't as technically sound--you could argue that his ceiling is higher.

Having said that I kept hoping beyond hope they had some plan in place for Fitz but I'm just not seeing it given the market value PP is going to bring.

While I agree with whomever said pass rushers and QB's deserve that kind of money, the truth is there are fewer elite corners than elite pass rushers. So I definitely think Sherman and PP will get theirs. It definitely has a direct impact on the Cardinals going forward.

You can pay four to six players on your roster "max" money for their positions. The Colts did it for years with Manning, Freeney, Harrison, Reggie Wayne, and Robert Mathis. You just have to be comfortable playing mid-round picks at other positions and cycling through them every three years. For the Colts, those tended to be linebackers and defensive backs and running backs.

The Cards can't pay Fitz and Palmer top money--in part because neither of them are top players. Fitz can't carry a $20M cap charge, because that's basically two max contracts.

But the Cards can afford to pay Peterson, Campbell, and Washington top money on long-term deals. That's going to squeeze out a guy like Dockett and maybe a guy like Dan Williams if he has a career season this year. They could probably still pay Fitz some $18M against the cap, but it would mean the end of Carson Palmer and any pending offensive free agents.

Well if the trends stay on course, Sherman will get his money and start sucking after his big payday like a lot of players , not all do but a lot do which would be fine with me if he does that.
Wilson is going to start making noise for big $$ too even tho I don't think of him as an elite QB he will get big money from them

With Thomas getting that huge deal I'm thinking the Seahawks can't pay Sherman as much as La Canwronga is saying.
