Seriously, Kobe does not score 40 points every night. While he did make some incredible shots, he benefited from poor defense on the part of the Suns. At some point, the Suns have to accept the fact that they have to deny shooters the ball and not try to catch up to them off of switches and double teams.

The reason JJ was not effective was because Kobe kept him from getting the ball in a positon to do anything. Somehow the Suns never seem to be able to do that to opponents.

Not every night, but capable of every night and does it on every night when he needs to.

How many straight 40+ games did he have last season? 15? I am pretty sure he was at least very very close to average 40 for an entire month.

I don't really know why he didn't play. Jake Voskuhl also played very little. I think that since Jahadi was so effective at guarding Shaq, there was no way Jake or Dice was going to take minutes from him. At this point, Jake is ahead of Dice on the center rotation, so Jake go the minutes where Shaq wasn't in.

The Lakers didn't get to go big as often as normal. Amare drew fouls on Medvendenko and Shaq pretty early. With their bigs out (well Horace Grant was still there) there wasn't a need for him to play. He can't be in basketball shape yet, and there wasn't a need for him, so I guess that is why he didn't play.

Although, I would have liked to see him in there instead of Zarko. Z just seems to try and force things a lot when he is in.

I thought the game summary pretty much told to why he didn't play. :)

The Phoenix Suns went small for 5-10 minutes (which was effective), and Amare Stoudemire, Jahidi White, Little Jake, and Cabarkapa played the rest of the minutes.

I thought I did - the game situation did not warrent McDyess playing.

BTW, we have people on this board from all over the world who did not watch the game. I'm not sure the box score would have really indicated just how well White played.
