I thought John Wall played defense. Curry dropped 51 on him in three quarters!!!

Nobody can guard Curry when he's hot with the possible exception of Lebron and/or Kawhi. I think they're probably the only 2 guys in the league who stand a chance of slowing him down.

Igor I'm afraid is in over his head going down Wilks road. I could be overreacting but I'm not seeing it. At least With the coyotes they control the pace and dictate. I don't see this from the 2 others and sadly d backs heading down that same road

Only thing I can say for Igor, is the NBA shortened the off season. A young team with 3 new starters, implementing new systems on offense and defense, we needed lots of time to put this together.

Aytons PER is 21.

As his 4th game as a rookie.

Let's just all take a deep breath on his defense

Turnovers are just killing the Suns right now. I fear the offense, which admittedly looked really good against Dallas, is too much for the team to absorb right now. It looks like the team abandons it relatively quickly at the first sign of resistance.

Well I would counter Wilks took a team that was injured and still won 7 games with almost the same roster while here we have the worst team in the NBA last year

That stretch there in the 4th where they fed him 3 or 4 times in a row was great. I wish the Suns started more possessions with Ayton down in the post. He made the correct read when doubled, and then punished them when left 1 on 1. If only we could get the ball into him cleanly consistently.

Plus no Point Guard and no Power Forward and, now, no Devin Booker. So we've lost our best Shooting Guard as well.

I don't know if Igor has what it takes to be an NBA Head Coach, but we're nowhere near finding out because Sarver's latest scapegoat, McDonough, left Igor trying to put out fires.

Ayton seemed to flip a switch in intensity after Booker got after him in the 3rd quarter. Actually saw a little of that KG that he says he models his game after.

Booker is gonna be out a couple of weeks, most likely, so the Suns need to play through Ayton as much as possible.

How do you know that? Isn't it logical that spreading him over two positions causes more fatigue than just covering his own position? And that fatigue causes injury?

(A) He has been covering two positions. (B) He just hobbled off the court. That is circumstantial evidence. Or an unbelievable coincidence. Hell, weariness causes lack of sleep and traffic accidents. Denial solves nothing.

I hope this will be a warning to whoever is calling the roster shots to get one serviceable, experienced role-playing Point Guard to, as I posted earlier, D&D -- distribute and defend. And hopefully be able to hit at least a 12-foot shot.
“Spreading him over two positions”. WTH does that even mean? He’s not literally playing double the minutes or trying to guard two players at one time. Are you saying he’s having to play harder? Because the booker I’m watching plays hard on offense and plays ZERO defense. The injured because he’s a point guard has no facts to fall back upon. He’s not trying to pass to himself. He’s not playing two positions. He’s playing basketball.

I'm hoping it causes Jackson to wake up. It was when Booker missed some games last year that things finally started clicking for him. It would be nice if we had JJ and Ayton with a lot of confidence in their games when Booker returns.

Thoughts:

We are a god awful defensive team. opposong players get the ball wide open because our defenders aren’t near them. They catch and shoot without having to move. I watch teams we play against and their guys are right up on our guys. No space.

I know this is sacrilege, but booker isn’t good enough to be as bad as he is defensively. He’s like historically bad. Embarrassing bad. He’s no Kobe if he doesn’t play defense. I mean he is soooo bad. I can’t stress this point enough.

Canaan sucks. That’s it. He just sucks so bad.

Ayton looked awful in the first half. He finally came alive in the third quarter. By then it was too late. But it’s the first time I’ve seen him challenge shots. And buckets with post moves. I think they should establish him in the post to begin games. Punish teams down low. Make them scramble.m to defend. That, in turn, should open outside shots. If we get those to fall it will open up the drive. Then we’ve got the defense scrambling. Whoever questioned starting possessions with Ayton in the high post was spot on I question that now. He’s our greatest mismatch and we aren’t using that to force the defense to react. It’s a tragic mistake.

That’s three straight blowouts. Very disheartening. And all for all of you who were spouting the “4-0 nuggets” and “warriors are the best” and “both were on the road” this was an 0-3 lakers team that was short handed and a home game for us. And the lakers just clowned is at home. That’s disheartening.

I know it’s early, new system, young players, but it’s going to really old typing that after every friggin game . . .

This team also added substantially more talent to the roster over the summer than the Cardinals did over their off season.
