The look in BA's eyes and his hand gestures indicate he isn't as "excited" as you are. :)

Maybe it's just a Pittsburgh thing then, cause he blows goats...Wiz, BA & traded to the Stealers. :D

Quick lets bring Horton back? Oh wait... Lol

It's time we coach the Pittsburgh out of the Cardinals ;)

We are worse at LT at 2-2 and the Steelers are better at LT at 0-4
We get a 5th round draft pick woo Hoo

this is almost as stupid as cutting Leinart for, DA, Hall and Skelton.

wasn't because of Character cause Levi has ELITE Character- BASK don't know what the hell they are doing- listening to veteran players - cause they don't themselves? Yes Keim I expect the new guy to struggle too- I expect the whole team, fans and city to suffer

My question is, if Keim wanted him benched, or basically off the team, since thet start of the season, why didn't he bring in a guy to replace him? Brandon Albert was available via trade, Jake Long was sitting out there in free agency, then Eugene Monroe becomes available and the Cards aren't able to obtain any of the 3?

To me, that's pretty poor front office work.

I agree. A leopard doesn't changes his stripes in year 7

I would say BA told Keim he & his coaches could salvage him & coach him up to be better.

Stupid Cardinals :mulli:

yeah, lost in all the hoopla of Brown being gone is the incredibly questionable move of going into the season having done nothing to shore up the position, even when there were a multitude of options available to do so.

Or they thought having Cooper next to him would help him look better.

if you're depending on a rookie to make your LT, the most important position on the line IMO, to look better, you better start looking to replace your LT.

He can have all the character in the world. I don't care how nice he is to Carson Palmer after he allows him to be sacked for another time. He sucks at playing football and shouldn't have returned to the team when we were originally rid of him.

this feels like a questionable move to me. We went into the season knowing LT was suspect (and if we didn't, this FO/Coaching staff leaves a lot to be desired) and there have been three bonafide LTs available via either trade or FA and we apparently didn't kick the tires on any of them?

gotta admit, that doesn't instill a lot of confidence in me.

Monroe is going to be a free agent after this year. He's not going to be cheap. The FO is already going to have cap issues so I doubt if they would be able to sign him long term.

I don't mean to sound glib here, but if the above is really the problem, then we should resign ourselves to not having a LT next year either as we aren't ever getting a LT unless we actually pay the market rate. a good FO would figure out how to accomplish this. and considering that we apparently have some cap space now, it would seem that trading for him, or having gone after Albert, or Long, that we could have signed them and used some of the cap space we still have to absorb part of their signing bonuses.

and if we're not going to even try to get a LT in FA or via trade, we're going to be in EXACTLY the same position we were WITH Levi Brown...drafting a LT...for need. that would be absolutely insane to me.

I still can't figure why the Cards would pass. Cap space can be created when needed, they always have the F-tag, and top flight LT's aren't often available for the mere pittance of a couple late round picks.

It's been suggested the Cards arent taking on anymore salary this year but this makes no sense.

All the Cards have now done is pretty much pigeoned holed themselves into taking a LT in round 1 next year and that's what got them in this mess in the first place.

You don't pass on guys like Monroe, especially when it's a huge need and the trade compensation is minimal. Do they really think Sowell is anywhere near the level of player that Monroe is? I think I remember hearing that he has never even played LT in a regular season game.

Plus, I heard Arains saying the LT play couldn't get any worse no matter how Sowell plays. Well, it could've gotten much better with the way Monroe plays.

This trade keeps getting weirder and weirder

We didnt just trade Levi. It seems this front office was desperate to get rid of him. Basically giving the Steelers a freebee by taking all the remaining contract on ourselves.

it makes no sense. If you are paying the guy, then keep him on the roster. Especially considering our new LT is an UDFA journeyman, whos basically a rookie.

Hey--the Cards cut Levi a check for over $3M as he was walking out the door:

http://blog.azcardinals.com/2013/10/03/how-trade-impacts-the-salary-cap/

I don't care if he's not in your plans for 2014. It makes no sense to further handicap your 2014 salary cap position just to get the guy off your roster.

this whole situation is just looking worse and worse. like freaking amateur hour. so, we now likely have terrible LT play, regardless of who is on the team AND we've hurt ourselves capwise next year to try and shore up that position with this trade?

if they don't use that cap space opened up this year with this trade to extend some of these guys signed to one year deals...or other guys they like, this trade looks incredibly stupid.

Yes cap space can always be created...
