Wow. This is a pretty big deal. It means neither QB has done anything near enough.

Please excuse me if this has been posted already. Got it from the Cardinals Facebook page.

Been saying all along that Lindley will be our starter come opening day - 2013. Perhaps I was off a year!!

I think it means it's the last preseason game and they don't intend to play Kolb or Skelton at all?

I hadn't gotten the chance to read Urban's blog post before I got it up... I got a little excited to be the first to post. It's still pretty nonsensical given that Kolb/Skelton need all the time they can get.

He might not be in the mix to start game one, but it's a scary possibility we might see him out there for one of this season's games.

Well, it's a good thing that Whis has shut this quarterback competition down once one player had clearly separated themselves from the pack. :bang:

I'm so excited to hear about how awesome Kolb has been in practices that fans and the media haven't seen to justify his placement atop the depth chart. :bang:

I just hope the Cardinals have a short rope on Kolb unlike last season. IMO, Kolb has not earned the starting QB position.

Kolb will be out of action again by the end of week two anyway.

I can see it already...

Kolb out of indefinite period...
September 22, 2012

Tempe, AZ

Kevin Kolb suffered what appears to be a significant concussion while exiting his car after a meeting at Cardinals headquarters... Preliminary reports are that Kolb, already with a history of concussions, was on his cellphone while attempting to exit his vehicle. Distracted by the conversation, he miss-judged his exit and slammed his head on the frame of his car.
Reports indicate that Darnell Dockett found Kolb on the ground beside his car with the driver's side door open and Kolb clinging to this phone, unconcious. Dockett, apparently fed up with Kolb's inablity to take a hit, kicked Kolb a few times in an effort to wake him. Kolb eventually did come to - and asked Dockett what the score of the game was. According to reports, Dockett was so incensed that he pushed Kolb back to the ground, yelling "Man... my 8 year old son is tougher than you!"
John Skelton has been named the starter with Ryan Lindley now the #2...

Or, something like that... :D

Actually the media has said that. Somers was on with Jurecki just last week saying that very thing. They see all of the practices and both of them agreed that Kolb was the clear cut winner in practices this offseason.

Note that is not my opinion of either QB, just a point after listening to both guys who are not paid by the organization to say such things.

Winner vs. Skelton, but I haven't heard a lot about him looking amazing as an objective measure in practices. I can hear Friday's line right now, "Kevin has really built upon his work last Thursday in practices and has convinced us and his teammates that he's going to be the guy to lead us on the field against Seattle. John is disappointed, as one would expect coming off a competition as even as this one has been, but he knows that he needs to keep working hard and improving."

This is a smart move for alot ot reasons Darren listed. Still drives me crazy I have no clue what to expect under center Week one.

What did i miss about Kolb being the favorite to start? Everything I have read and heard speculated says Skeleton is the guy.....

I think Whiz finally realized the only way he can go shotgun (without getting his QB killed) is to go no huddle for a couple plays first, mixing it up with some play action. Otherwise it's open season with our line, no matter who is back there, which we"ve already seen this pre-season.

One thing is certain: Kolb or Big John beating on scrubs won't convince the warring parties that the other deserves to start. I'll back whomever is under centre come the 9th of September.

I actually don't see what the big deal is. He knows who is going to start at least that is what the media is assuming after listening to him speak, which means that QB knows, and the team knows. Some people are only up in arms because Wiz didn't tell you what his decision is, of which he has no obligation to. Teams start game planning for game one opponents this week. Lindley wont be the only one starting who usually doesn't start by the way. Powell is going to start as well, as will a few others. Much ado about nothing IMO.

We are screwed no matter who the QB is because neither one has the long term talent that we need.

IMO, Kolb is just one hard hit from being gun-shy so to speak running around everywhere and putting the ball up for grabs. No guts, no glory. If Whiz does not want to start Skelton, I'd rather take my chances on Lindley to start the season.

Yea no point playing them vs backups. You won't learn anything like that.

I thought Skelton looked the least bad of the two. But he didn't make any "big" plays to put himself way ahead either.

Kolb looked very bad until he seemed to pull his head out vs the titans and had some nice throws. Minus the two picks.

At this point I think I care more about how there are going fix the line.
