I actually don't see what the big deal is. He knows who is going to start at least that is what the media is assuming after listening to him speak, which means that QB knows, and the team knows. Some people are only up in arms because Wiz didn't tell you what his decision is, of which he has no obligation to. Teams start game planning for game one opponents this week. Lindley wont be the only one starting who usually doesn't start by the way. Powell is going to start as well, as will a few others. Much ado about nothing IMO.

We are screwed no matter who the QB is because neither one has the long term talent that we need.

Because I want to be angry and pissed off right now. I want to see a Mitch 3500-word denunciation of Whis and the offensive system while I'm working, not over the weekend while I'd prefer to be spending time with my family.

I think the Cardinals have done this every time they've played five preseason games.

While I am inclined to agree with you---the circumstances warrant an attempt at trying to develop chemistry and continuity with the QBs and the new offensive line.

This offense is out of whack---it needs more time in game-type situations.

The offensive line, especially the new tackles would get better looks from the Broncos' edge rushers than they would from ours. That in itself should be an impetus to play the starting line. These guys don't even have their assignments down straight---they STILL don't know how to switch on loop stunts, for example.

Russell Wilson is starting with the first team offense again this week---he is still getting accustomed to his role and the starting unit...and he has had more sustained success and playing time this pre-season than Skelton or Kolb has.

Skelton needs work. He's still a young, developing player. He had ONE series versus Oakland at home---that means that in two pre-season games at HOME he will have had one series---that's outrageous.

This is such a mess---this is egregious decision making and coaching, imo.

Its no biggie Mitch. We have played the normal 4 pre season games. Decision has been made. No need to risk injury with this OL to either of them. Its all good.

Why should Whis tip off Seattle on who the starter will be week one? There is enough uncertainity that it really could be either Kolb or Skelton IMO. Seattle will have to prepare for both quarterbacks next week until Whis announces the starter.

Now all he has to worry about is Chris Mortensen or Adam Shefter and their 'sources inside the organization.'

Nah, that will be my reaction after we start 1-4 with our easy early schedule and yet people are still making excuses for him because his QB rating is roughly average and "he looked great on that one drive".

One good drive, 4 crap drives in one game and people call him the starter suddenly

I can see it already...

Kolb out of indefinite period...
September 22, 2012

Tempe, AZ

Kevin Kolb suffered what appears to be a significant concussion while exiting his car after a meeting at Cardinals headquarters... Preliminary reports are that Kolb, already with a history of concussions, was on his cellphone while attempting to exit his vehicle. Distracted by the conversation, he miss-judged his exit and slammed his head on the frame of his car.
Reports indicate that Darnell Dockett found Kolb on the ground beside his car with the driver's side door open and Kolb clinging to this phone, unconcious. Dockett, apparently fed up with Kolb's inablity to take a hit, kicked Kolb a few times in an effort to wake him. Kolb eventually did come to - and asked Dockett what the score of the game was. According to reports, Dockett was so incensed that he pushed Kolb back to the ground, yelling "Man... my 8 year old son is tougher than you!"
John Skelton has been named the starter with Ryan Lindley now the #2...

Or, something like that... :D

I just hope the Cardinals have a short rope on Kolb unlike last season. IMO, Kolb has not earned the starting QB position.

Neither has Skelton. It's sad, but in this situation I guess you gotta go with the guy who's getting paid. But probably on a short leash. I'm betting we'll see Kolb out there for at least 2-3 games. If he's miserable, that's probably the final nail in the Kevin Kolb experiment.

Yay! Who wants to buy my tickets to watch Peyton...oh wait. Kolb and Skelton...hmmmm. Uh, Larry? Nope.

Brock! Yeah, he's worth the price of admission.

I wonder if it's too late for the NFL Network to find a different game to broadcast live.

Nah, they're already running the commercials:

Peyton Manning leads the resurgent Broncos into the desert to take on Larry Fitzgerald and the Arizona Cardinals...

Or something like that. I nearly did a spit-take when I saw that and that was before Whiz's announcement.

I'd lean towards Skelton too. But I'm guessing, as an organization, the Cardinals are leaning towards Kolb simply because of his salary and the fact that Skelton hasn't really done much this preseason.

This is where I am at with this situation. Whomever starts desperately needs more reps. The entire offense needs more time together. Heck we don't even know who is starting on the offensive line.

Don't want to hear about the injury thing either as not being ready for the opener is the worst scenerio of all.

This just makes no sense to me.

Hell, I'm still going and gonna have a fantastic time. We've only got 10 of these, and I make each one of them count. I'm perfectly content cheering my ass off for Rich Bartel, Javaris James, Blake Gideon, Russ Hochstein, and Scooter McFadden!!

I think Thursday's game will all about learning more about what our OL can or cannot do, plus sorting out a bunch of other roster battles. (The only positions totally locked up - both starters and backups - are FB and K,P, Snapper).

As to "Wiz having already decided between Kolb and Skelton" - If he knew, he'd say. There's no real benefit to delaying the decision any more than he has to.
