I don't see any way P2 opts out in a contract year for what will likely be his last contract.

Once the opt out agreement is in place players only have 7 days to opt out, it's not like he could get a new contract sorted then decide.

I'd be highly surprised if he did.

Statement from GM Brett Veach

With CEH there Williams may be out of a job come next year. Everyone is entitled to not play for whatever reason they choose especially if they are worried about their health but when these guys come back next year the starting job they once had they may no longer have.

He just pushed his contract back one year. For an RB..... This took some stones. He must have a personal reason for this IMO. Good for him for being brave.

What part of "I don't see any way P2 opts out in a contract year for what will be his last contract" was hard to understand?

If I was saying this was his last contract it wouldn't be a contract year would it? Contract year means a year in which he is looking for a new contract.

It's just so stupid for us who don't have to worry about whether we end up with the virus (by playing or not playing) ,to comment on those who do. As fans we want EVERYONE (our team and the opposition) to be well, so let's leave it at that. I do appreciate this thread as it gives info of who will play and who won't.

Now let's deal with what you actually wrote:

"I don't see any way P2 opts out in a contract year for what will likely be his last contract" .

"Likely be his last contract" suggests he will not receive a contract beyond the existing agreement.

What part of that baseless speculation on your part don't you understand?

I think you're hammering way too hard on someone who explained what they meant. I didn't read his post the way you did, and this seems like an overreaction.

Everyone is free to do what they want
But if all the people decide to quit their jobs cause of the fear of getting infected the economy will collapse
Or its better starving? 99.9 % of the jobs are less protected then nfl players
In the European leagues not a single player speculated an opting out idea

what the? You can’t be serious. 99.9’% of jobs aren’t about large amounts of people, in extreme physical contact at all times. A lot jobs, you can at least take some precautionary measures to distance and wear protective gear. NFL player goes against literally every suggestion to minimize risk of the virus, especially without a bubble, adding mass travel into the mix as well.

They are going to be tested almost every day, I don't think employers are so protected in other environments
Then the virus to be transmitted doesn't need a contact
The players can use the gloves, helmet, they can eventually use a sportive mask
As before the outbreak of the pandemic u had like 1months or more to be prepared but u didnt
Now there are sports in Europe like soccer that are full played, u can follow their example to learn how to start football

I think we're in uncharted waters, the situation is fluid and anything is possible. Just turn on the PC and TeeVee each day and prepare to be surprised.

There will not be a NFL season.
I'm getting to the point where I don't even want to research or discuss Fantasy Football because it feels like there's more productive things I could do with my time. Even if it's played I kinda feel like it's not the same.

you keep using other countries that have gotten control of covid as baselines while IGNORING THAT OUR COUNTRY IS A RUNAWAY FREIGHTRAIN OF COVID DISASTER.

this is not hard to understand.
