That's strange a lot of you wouldn't take Manning if he was there and others wouldn't take Ben according to your pics...

I believe Taylor is the best player at his position maybe but Safety just don't affect the game that much compared to other positions. If you had the two best Saftety in the NFL it would help you but not that much...now if you had the two best DL's DE's or two best corners.... I think that would be totally different. There are a lot more servicable Safeties that can do just fine compared to other positions on the field.

I don't want to turn this into another thread debating the merits of the safety position in the NFL, but I'll just say this: Last season, I agreed with you. I didn't think that the signing was that big a deal. Now, I think that Jackson is probably the best free agent that we've brought in in the past three to five years. The Safety is the quarterback of the defense. His reads and savvy can have an effect on every play that the offense runs. If you want a defense that dictates what the offense can do, instead of the Card Ds of the past that recacted to what the offense was doing, you need a playmaking safety.

Sean Taylor is the Michael Vick of defense. The next Ray Lewis.
