Draftexpress tweeted before the draft that many teams were trying to get in the middle of the first round to pick Kendall Marshall by the way.

Eh, I think he'll be a decent player. I would have picked someone else, but I am not terribly upset. I hope we get another player tonight.

No they didn't try moving up at all.

Many insiders have reported rumors about other teams trying to trade for picks or trade down or whatever, but absolutely nothing from Phoenix.

You are living in denial if you think the Suns FO is any good.

You do not know that. You are just hysterical.

I rather have a guy like Marshall than a super athletic idiot who will be a bust. Marshall has the IQ to stay in this league for a long time. Maybe not a star but not a dud.

I had to leave in the middle of the draft and I come back to find Marshall selected at #13. It's funny I wanted a backup PG for Steve Nash for years and when they finally get one, Nash may be gone.

The problem with taking a low ceiling/low floor guy like Marshall is the Suns need pieces to build around. Marshall may end up being an adequate back up PG, or a starting PG who's one of the 20th-30th best in the NBA, but thats not exactly exciting or what you hope for in the freakin' lottery.

In the Suns position you want to be aggressive, whether thats moving up, moving down and getting more, picking someone who has a high bust/star potential, etc. You can get backup PGs in Free Agency fairly easily, its not something you're hoping to get at 13.

I might mean Steve is leaving. Get the distributor this year and the athletic scorer next year when the pick is better.

With regards to moving up, the only pick that seemed to have been available that the Suns could afford was #12. That would mean moving up one spot to presumably draft Lamb, since he was the only of the five SG's available there. Then you have to ask yourself, would it have been worth it for the Suns to trade away assets (most likely a future first) to move up one spot to draft a player that the other four teams drafting SG's already passed on? I doubt the Suns were very high on Lamb and moving up to get Waiters or Rivers would have been a lot more costly and difficult.

Least we aren't the blazers. Any of you really think Leonard was worth it at that spot?

You aren't going to get any impact players picking at this position unless you are damn lucky. This is a pretty good pick. If he can solve NBA defenses and make good decisions with the ball he could be a Jose Calderon type. What's wrong with that?

There were plenty of FA PG options. I can't help but want more from the Suns tonight.

Dallas traded the pick to the Cavs for the 24th, 33rd and 34th picks. That's a great deal for the Mavs.

Not sure why everyone is so upset. Who else were they going to take?

Marshall is the best pure PG in the draft. Not making the comparison, but people said Kidd couldn't shoot. And Marshall is a guy that other players are going to want to come play with. Not a bad pick @ 13 IMO. Probably the one with the least amount of "bust potential" in this draft aside from Davis.

Way better PGs in next year's draft than Marshall

of course this was a good draft for shooting guards. I don't like the pic because I'm not a big fan of Marshall, but I wouldn't be thinking about the next draft unless it's to consider a trade for a future draft pick.

Too bad the Suns couldn't do something like that. I bet the Suns had trade down offers at #13.

Who would you have picked that would have been an impact player? This is the problem with picking in the middle of the draft -- you can't afford to miss on the draft anymore, and the high-ceiling guys left also have the biggest bust factor.

Also disagree the Suns absolutely needed to have an impact player this year. They're at least 3 years away from being relevant again. They just need young players who belong in the NBA right now. They can jump on a beast when the opportunity better presents itself.

You can't say a team missed or did good until at least one year. Just think how great those picks last year were so good before us

Jose Calderon types are a more or less a dime a dozen, you can get them easily in Free Agency.

I just want to see the Suns take more of a risk and try to strike it big. Guys like Morris and Marshall aren't really NBA starter types, they're both fine bench players I guess. Its hard to get excited about that as your 'young core' going forward.
