Please stay away from Quinn. He's off my board unless we trade down to the 20s.

Quinn = Aaron Maybin = Vernon Gholston.

The only way Quinn will succeed is if he ends up in a Tampa 2 scheme where he gets after the quarterback on every play like Simeon Rice. He has no interest in playing the run or in getting blocked.
I don't get Gholston. He played the run and pass well at OSU, gets to the NFL and does a Wendell Bryant.

Luck or Mallett

Luck will likely be gone by the time we pick assuming he declares. One of the ESPN college analysts (I didn't catch their name) on Bickley and Jurecki's show said that its still 50-50 on him staying even if Harbaugh leaves. Peyton was giving him advice to stay in school.

Mallett - in the 2nd round maybe. His stats are good because he runs a version of the spread offense where everything favors the QB. He has good measurables and a good arm but his footwork is a trainwreck and his pocket pressence is iffy at best. I've watched several games of his this year and quite frankly not all that impressed. Not worth a top 5 pick.

Newton - I can see both sides on. Lots of red flags on and off the field. Lots of talent.

From the sounds of things, Whiz wants to get an impact defensive player early in the draft. Right now it sounds like they are infatuated with Quinn but that could always change

I'd be thrilled with Luck or Newton. As far as the one-year wonder status, that is not exactly accurate. Its not like he has been a mediocre player who played out of his mind for a year. He has been totally dominant where ever and when ever he has played--at every school and on every level.

He has played exactly 1 year of major college football...how can anyone know whether or not he is going to be a 1 yr wonder? Are you saying because he won in High School and Junior High - that automatically makes him a good pro prospect?

The questions with him will be his potential & ability to read defenses and digest a complicated playbook. If he can prove in post-season workouts & interviews the ability to do that then great. We won't know until then because we haven't seen him read defenses or run a particularly complex defense at Auburn.

You guys know I've been anti-Newton all year. With that said, I think Pryor & Newton have the same skillset and talent which IMO will not translate to a big time NFL QB. Call me a hater, but I want a QB wearing Cardinal red who will be great, lead us to contant winning & lead us to Super Bowl title(s). I don't think Mallet, Newton or Pryor are those guys!!!

Oh, Newton scares the hell out of me, but of the other QB's in the draft, he has the greatest complement of skills to carry a franchise.

Also, if Josh Freeman can develop into a pretty damn good QB, Cam Newton should be able to as well. From the little I have seen of Newton, he reminds me a little of Freeman.

I agree none of those are the guy to win anything. They are Akili Smith, Andre Ware, and Jeff George, gifted talents but losers overall.

I saw Freeman carry K-State with his arm against Texas at least 2 times in his career & really didn't have much talent on his team. I've never seen Newton carry Auburn by strictly passing. Oh well, we will see...

That could be very true. I will totally admit that I haven't seen a ton of Auburn games and am kinda ignorant when it comes to Newton. I have seen post game highlights and the Alabama game, which left me impressed but uncertain. I remember watching Akili Smith when he was at Oregon, and that has made me extremely skeptical of 1 year wonders.
