Jude Lecava said that the Suns are still trying to get KG, but that they are in FULL charge at getting a Top 10 pick. He said the Suns are trying to paclage the 3 first round picks (#24, #29, and 08 Atlanta pick), along with a RESERVE player for a Top 10 pick. That means Barbosa, Diaw, KT, Jones, or Banks with the 3 picks to move up.

I don't see the reasoning Atlanta would have to trade the #3 other than the fact that they suck at drafting.

seriously, lol.

jeez, every time I think of the draft, it just pisses me off SOOOO much because of how close it was to us just holding all the cards in the league. If we just decided to go drafting, with the 4th pick, we could just take a total stud to add to an already great roster, being able to use 24 and 29 if necessary to get rid of Banks, thus being able to hold on to KT and not worry too much about the LT OR:

With the 4th pick, we could have had the PERFECT PIECES to pull off a deal the Wolves/Celts absolutely couldn't turn down, sending Marion to Boston as they want, us getting KG and Minny getting KT and Ratliff (20 million of cap relief) AND they would have the 4th, 5th, and 7th picks in the draft to completely rebuild with. Seriously, could there have been a better deal for the Wolves than to get a TON of expiring money AND the 4th and 5th picks in the most loaded draft in two decades?

ugh - that freaking week could go down in Suns history as the week the Suns unofficially died in the present and the future.

Once we end up with KG, Corey Brewer, and keeping STAT after Thursday night the above post will be non-sequiter.

There's no way Barbosa is being traded for just a draft upgrade. No lottery team wants Thomas or Banks, and I doubt anyone wants Diaw. Jones probably has some small positive value, so if there's anything behind this rumor, it's probably him plus the picks to move up.

Does anyone else think that if Noah, Brewer and Conley are off the board that the Suns are going to draft Julian Wright?

His stock has dropped quite a bit since the end of the season but i think he is an excellent point forward with great athleticism. He really is what the Suns like in a player. I watched him play a few times this year and came away very impressed with his fundamental game. I just think some good coaching could do wonders for this kid and they could groom him to take over for Marion.

I for one think that should be the pick if the other three are off the board.

No, he's a bad shooter. If he was a good shooter, he would probably go #4 or so.

Agreed. No way the Suns are giving up LB for a higher pick. That's a VERY steep price to be paying.

However, if they could pawn off Banks with LB say for #8, they could live with the consequence of salary and tax savings of over 60 mil plus #8?

I really thought the Suns were serious about this draft. It appears I was wrong. Another poster I read said the Suns would get rid of their picks. I'm beginning to think he was right. It almost appears a replay of last year's draft... if the Suns don't get the player they want (like Thabo), then the rest of the draft is not worth pursuing. I'm still remotely hoping that Steve Kerr can work some magic but my faith is wavering if the rumors of late are true.

No. You have to pay somebody. Barbosa's contract is excellent, so it's not "savings" to trade him away.

Barbosa has one of the best contracts in the league. Why would you want to dump that? I'd take that as a loss to tell you the truth.

Because you want to dump Banks' in the process? And maybe #8 was considered a Amare/Wade/JoshHoward caliber of talent? And LB is a tweener that comes off the bench? You always have to give value to get value, unless...

Forget about Banks. This year the Suns are trying to win the championship. Giving way assets to save money by dumping Banks doesn't accomplish that.

The Suns need Barbosa.

At least we agree on this. Do you think the Suns will go big or small if they get #8. If they go big, who's going to backup Nash. Please don't say Banks.

A few people have mentioned that if the Suns move 24/29 they hope they can get Charlottes 2nd rounder to get someone like Koponen. Please note, Charlotte doesn't have a 2nd rounder. They have their lottery pick and pick 22, but no 2nd rounder.

Barbosa's and Banks' combined salary is likely even with or less than Barbosa's production. I'd rather keep both than move both, not to mention dealing Barbosa kills the backcourt depth.

We're not trading Barbosa. That's lunacy. Absolutely out of the question. He's the most talented player per dollar of salary in the entire NBA.

I think they are targeting Noah and I think there is a reasonable chance he's available at #8

3 Hawks - Horford or Conley
4 Griz - Conley or Horford
5 Celtics - Green (the Celtics do not have a running team and like bigger SF's who can play inside some)
6 Milwaukee - Already have bigs, needs a shooter at SF
7. Minnesota - Need everything, but do they need another thin inside guy?

From the Suns perspective, Noah's a good shot blocking rebounding guy who runs the court and is a very good ball handler for his size. He's limited as a shooter, but can drive finish as a cutter.

I see Noah as a long range alternative to using Marion in the small ball lineup. He's tall enough to bother the more athletic PF's like Dirk, Pau, Odom, J O'Neal, etc. without slowing the running game down.

I don't see him replacing Marion immediately, but he would give D'Antoni a guy to work with that isn't going to be bothered by the need to get the ball to Amare more.

Every reviewer says Noah would be perfect in the Suns lineup and doubts he'd be as successful on a slow down team.

What about trading for Steve Blake or Mo Williams?

If Minny's draft wasn't a big question mark I think a deal would be done already. Right now the Suns have to assume Noah -- if that is indeed their man -- does not last past No. 7.

Why? I don't think Noah meets their major needs.

It's not about Minny's needs -- or even whether they like Noah or not. It's about making sure the Suns aren't sure what they're doing.
