I thought tonight's episode was sort of a let-down after the break-neck pace it's been going at the last few weeks.

I liked the development of Charlie--was their a common thread through his top 5 moments? At first I thought it was liquid--the rain and the booze that they made a point of showing them guzzling, but that didn't maintain through the last one.

Also, why not cut the cable instead of sending someone on a suicide mission into the Looking Glass?

Lastly, Desmond is always so worried that things have to happen just so so that his visions come true, but then he also knows everything is inevitable. So, why not just let things happen as they will? What made me think of this is that I think he was manipulating Charlie to get him to go to the Looking Glass---I think he knew he'd run into some Others down there.

I said the same thing about the cable but maybe it wasn't power maybe it's something else. But it was certainly worth cutting it to see if it cut off the jamming signal before doing what they did. Reasonable to assume the cable
is bringing something valuable to the hatch.

Sayid, while looking at the schematics, said that hatch was powered by the cable.

just because the hatch is powered by the cable doesn't mean that they still don't have another power source within the hatch that is independent and powering whatever equipment is used for jamming.

in the military i used to be on a mobile jamming unit and although it was housed inside a hummer, it's power source was independent of the hummer.

I get my power from hummers.

Which kind of Hummers?

What if Under water facility (Looking Glass??) wasn't powered by the cable but provided power to the island? I would imagine the underwater current could be efficient enough to power the other facilities not to mention they (writers) haven't shown an alternate power source.

I believe that the cable is a tether, not a power cable.

So pull the hatch in by the cable up on the beach and turn off the yellow blinky switch.

Hurley could do it by himself.

:D

A friend of mine said about Charlie's list how come having a 3 some didn't make the list?

hilarious about the first part. the second part - the significance of the ring out-weighed everything else in that scene.

I thought the ring comment was an homage to Lord of the Rings.

interesting - i hadn't thought along those lines previously in regards to the show. i'm guessing if that is true then that would have been the first Tolkien reference since the show began.

i was talking with some friends over the weekend about the show and wondering if this isn't some re-telling of a Greek myth, or a blending of several myths into one modern story.

I sort of did as well. I did like how we have yet another tie between characters. The girl that Charlie saved was:

Sayid's childhood friend - Nadia

I also thought that this was a good episode for Charlie. However, this clearly was a setup epsiode which is kind of dissapointing because the show had been on a roll as of late.

Not going back to Locke really irritated me. The entire cable thing didn't though. They would have backup generators in a facility like that. So even if you cut the cable, there is no telling how long it would be before the backup generators would run out.

Also, nice to finally see Rose and Bernard back.

i wasn't disappointed that Locke wasn't shown. my prediction is that we will won't know anything about Locke until next season. i'm wondering if there is a contract issue for him and so they have put his character in limbo...that's just pulling straws on my part.

Harold Perrineau has some other show so he won't be in the finale (he wouldn't really fit in anyway), but I wouldn't be surprised if Walt does show up. It would probably be in some kind of apparition form (similar to what happened with Shannon) and would probably relate to Locke given their history.

did anyone else think that ring looked too punk-rock to have been a family heirloom? i just can't picture great-grandpappy hobbit walking around manchester in the 1800's wearing that ring.

Totally agree. Defintiely should have found a different ring IMO.

One thing that I thought was dumb was when Charlie knocked Desmond out. It's not like Desmond really wanted to go. He has just slowly preparing and then....WHACK. I'm sure if Charlie said "no, I have to do it" he would have let him so that was unneeded. I guess it brought some more action to the episode.

By the way, my wife thinks that guy Richard who doesn't age....you never see his feet, and if we ever do, he'll only have four toes since he's a native to that Island.

Maybe he's a thousand years old.

Another good episode last night. Next week is going to be awesome.

I enjoyed the show tonight - not a lot of info, but nice tie togethers.

One thing that the producers said makes me think that this is an alternate reality...

yeah, they snuck a "space-time continuum" thing in there right at the end. They better have a GOOD reason and explanation or that will just be the biggest copout of all time.

When (if) Charlie dies, brutha, I will be sad. This will be the first death I will be kind of sad about.

Good Charlie episode...I saw the end coming though and was saying "shut up Charlie, you don't know that place is empty!!"

So these are the other others?

Watching Lost a day late is cool because you only have to wait 6 more days instead of 7.

Have a feeling that the people that ambushed Charlie are all women--all the ones they've been trying to experiment on regarding pregnancy.

I was getting teary-eyed for Charlie towards the end...shocking ending, but the show sets it up for next week, which looks spectacular.

So was I, lol. I actually let a tear or two go. I was like, "Okay, Wendy. It's just a televisions show," lol. I really like Charlie's character.

Also, nice to finally see Rose and Bernard back.

Yeah, I like those two.

LOL, brutha! I said the same thing.

Who knows who these people are and who they are aligned with?

And I agree that watching Lost a day or two later is great because of the shorter wait. (Just got done watching it myself.)

BTW, loved the interaction between Hurley and Charlie. And it's nice to see Jack being kinda bad-ass.

I'm pretty sure Desmond told him about the women, brutha.

It also allows you to fast forward through all the commercial. ABC shows seem to have more commercials then any other network

You're too big...you can't fit in that boat.

I love you man.

Yeah, whatever, I love you too.

Hurley is going to regret that. :(

I was thinking about the deaths on the show and how I felt about them. Who am I missing here?

  • Artz - Whatever. Redshirt.
  • Boone - Eh, ok. Whatever.
  • Shannon - I was just starting to like her but she was a bitch.
  • Anna Lucifer - Uhm, I'd have shot her myself. Hated her.
  • Libby - Only sad because I wanted more of that Hurley/Her backstory. No emotional attachment to her.
  • Ecko - Didn't care...was drawn out, you knew he was biting it and he hadn't talked for two or three episodes. I liked his character but him being dead was no biggie.
  • Nikki and Paulo - Fantastic, good riddance and I wanted them gone from jump. Terribly introduced, but I have to give props to the Lost team for killing them off the way they did. Very cool.
  • Others like Ethan and Goodwin and such...whatever..bad guys go die and die hard.

Yes, if Charlie dies it will suck, even with the "you're gunna die, Chahley" mantra fo the last few weeks. I actually felt sad in this ep...he loves Claire and his little list was a great flashback.
