A friend of mine stopped by today and said he heard the Cards were in negotiations with John Lott. Anyone else heard this?

He couldn't remember where he heard it.

I am pretty sure I heard the sports guy on Channel 3 say they offered him a contract as part of a teaser, but I never got to hear the full report after the commercial.

Edit: I think this happened Monday IIRC.

No because injuries have gone down and players have developed under his program. The cheerleading is just entertaining.

Devils Advocate here.

Have injuries gone down becuase of Lott or because players are more willing to play through injuries and workout out if your winning and playing for a Head coach they like. I know the later is without a doubt part of it throughout the whole league. How much so, I dont know.

They have been negotiating for a while with Lott and a few other coaches whos contracts are ending this year. Note Graves contract is also ending.

I think that may have contributed, but there were so many "soft tissue" injuries in the years before Whiz, that even if it isn't Lott, but Whiz thinks enough of him to extend, then I am all for it. The truth is every player I hear comment on Lott talks highly of him and his program. If they believe and the head coach believes, then it is as close to reality as it needs to be.

Didn't Fitz give Lott credit for being in better shape to the point he didn't get injured worse on some play at the end of the season (don't remember the game)? If my star receiver likes him, I would keep him......

As did Beanie (under Fitz's guidance). I just know we used to lose half a dozen players EVERY year to hammies. You can't do much for broken bones, but you can add flexibility and strength to limit some of the ligament and muscle injuries.

This. I don't think that it's a money issue. I think that Lott wants to have some security if (when) there's a lockout in 2011.

The Cards have been negotiating with Lott since they starting extending the contracts of assistants.

Plus add the fact we were the oldest team in the league and nothing bad can be said for coach Lotts chearleading as it helps make the team a family, and can actually lead to motivating players old and young.

Pay the man.Please Billy.:)

My sentiments too Doug-----Pay the man, not only for what he has done, but for what he WILL do for this team. He has been an integral part of all of this. Remember, his services were one of the first things that Coach Whiz. requested when he came aboard. They have worked hand in hand in turning this group of players into a family of sorts. That has never happened here before now.

Did Boldin just not buy into Lott's program?

Soft tissue injuries are the ones I am talking about. If you are on a winning team do you sit with a bad hammy or do you work through it. If you are on a winning team do you have the knee scope procedure or do you wait until the off-season?

Again I am not devaluing the value of Lott its just that I read a book a few years ago that talked about this subject. Stuff about losing is a snow ball effect, because once you start losing players start going into self preservation mode. So its an interesting side of the football players mentality to me.

Plus Lott is the Get back man on the sidelines. I will never forgive him for not doing his job with Rolle on the Super Bowl Harrison TD when Fitz had the tackle until he ran into Rolle who was standing to far onto the field.:D

Should have fired Lott last year.;)

I put that on Rolle, he could have stuck his foot out and tripped Harrison. :D
