It has killed me to not post a Golden Knights thread in this forum all year. But with my Knights playing in the Cup, I figured it was time to take the plunge.** I'll contain Knights stuff to this thread, other than when we're playing the desert dogs.
Knights / Capitals for the Cup. Who woulda thought that at the beginning of the year (well, maybe the Caps were a good choice, given their performance last year)?
As usual throughout the playoffs, no one knows quite what to expect. Both Fleury and Holtby have been standing on their heads ( .947 v. .924 sv). Both teams are hot (especially with the Caps 2 game run in the ECF; Vegas took 4 straight after dropping the first game to the Jets). Both will be well rested (the Jets ran out of gas against the Knights, especially in the last few games by about midway through the 3rd).
Reading the "experts" opinions, they don't know what to make of this matchup either.
Personally, I think the Caps will come out strong. And the Knights will drop the first game or two because they've been sitting since Monday (same thing happened against the Jets for the first game). After that, the Knights will collect themselves and come back strong. I expect a 2-2 tie, and then one team to power over the other and take the Cup by 4-2. Keeping in tradition of the Knight's inability to seize a playoff series win at home, Knights will win on the road at the Caps in Game 6.
