I know this is a stupid question but this is the first year I have watched. Who was the lady with cancer in LA? What former connection was there with Dick?

I would suggest going back and watching the previous seasons since there are a ton of small things that will make sense for you. On to your question:
The lady he visited is Anna Draper. Don's real name is Dick Whitman. When he was in the Korean War he met Don Draper who was his commander. Don was killed in an accident and Dick stole his dog tag and his name. Anna is the real Don Drapers wife. Once Dick finally confessed to Anna what he did they became really close friends and she is pretty much the only person who knows the real Dick Whitman.

thx alot. I knew about Dick taking Drapers ID but somehow I couldn't make the connection with the LA lady.

Another outstanding episode. I really like how Pete is continuing to grow more confident each week. And holy cow what a story line for that little girl. I wonder how else she will act out and if Betty will get back to a psychiatrist.

These guys do a good job of making me hate Betty with each passing episode. First slapping Sally and then the whole overreaction to Sally's incident at her friend's house. I do love the scene though with Betty sitting in a children's psychologist office and she getting told to get some help.

So did Draper finally get his groove back? Or was that just a little redemption for the self-inflicted punishment crusade he's been on this season?

A really interesting show last night. Very creepy that Don lost that whole Saturday. He only seemed a little buzzed at the presentation but he couldn't remember that he ripped off the slogan?

A couple of things:
-I think this is finally the kick in the pants Don needed to get sober and stay sober.
-With Anna now dead I believe Don will turn to Peggy to be the new Anna. I truly think he will tell her about Don/Dick.
-The same will go with Peggy telling Don that Pete is the father of her child (which I am shocked he didn't already know.
-I do not believe Don and Peggy are going to get together but have the sort of relationship like Don and Anna had where they love each other but in a plutonic way.
Outstanding episode.

Well things are certainly set up so sh*t can hit the fan over the final few episodes this season. Since Bryan Cranston can't win the emmy this year it has to be Jon Hamm's year. He has been unbelievable this season and his moments of panic this episode (when Betty called him and his full on panic attack) were outstanding.

Why can't Cranston win it?

Agreed though, Hamm deserves it this year, it's been friggin' unbelievable.

Would be nice for Peggy to win supporting actress too.

Breaking Bad isn't coming back until after the deadline for shows to premiere. I believe I've read it won't be back until late June-early July.

Awesome.

Last night's episode was simply fantastic. Love the struggles and how everything is falling apart. Brilliant work by all. Campbell...poor guy taking the heat...only because he can't think of running the company without Don right?

Yes.

What I was bowled over by how we feel sorry for Don. His world is crashing around him and Faye is there to help. He gets through his issues and he immediately starts pushing Faye away...and then we see him leering at Megan.

Nothing great by Mad Men's standards but still a good episode. Really just setting things up for the final 2 episodes this season. I think Don will eventually go to Megan. That is really all I can come up with on this episode.

So Don finally had his Jerry Maguire moment. Is there a company that had a huge campaign in the mid 60s that Don can lead? Will Conrad Hilton be so impressed by the ad that he comes back to the firm? Something has to happen. Also will Peggy get her wish in renaming the firm or is Cooper just caught up in the heat of the moment?

Please never again mention that crap 1990's movie character in the same sentence as Don Draper.

Good guess. In hindsight it seems like the obvious thing as she was pretty supportive of him and what he does. Then it became even more obvious when she Jedi mind tricked the whole table after the kids spilled the milkshake. She is so anti-Betty that Don can't help but feel good around her.

Even so the finale was a stinker. We missed great opportunities at further developing Peggy and Pete. Instead Peggy is slowly falling into the jealous/envy/worry type person as once again she let her feelings be known that she isn't confident in her place at the office even though Don has seemingly been even more open with her and her progress.

I don't think it has anything to do with her place in the office as much as it does that she's in love with Don. Which to me is a lot different than jealous/envy/worry.

Especially when Don tells her that Megan reminds him of Peggy. Ouch.

I don't think Peggy is in love with Don. She had her chance. I think it is more upset that she worked so hard to get where she is and then Don goes and gets engaged to someone who wants the same things and will probably just get promoted.

I thought this finale was pretty solid. To me the best part was when Joan and Peggy finally get together. Those two are the same person yet have never had a chance to bond. I think an episode centered on the two of them would be outstanding.

Also the more and more I think about it I like the fact that a big company didn't come save the day and instead they get a tiny account. You could see the happiness on Don's face when Ken and Peggy told him about it. This was also a great episode for Ken in general. His little remark about how he isn't Pete was great.

As for developing Pete and Peggy that will happen next season. I will guarantee you that. Joan is in the same situation that Peggy was back in season 1. When Roger starts making trouble (because you know he will) I assume Peggy will let something slip. We know Pete still has feelings for her.
