i don't have the link, but our third brother (he who shall remain postless) was offroading with friends in northern AZ and came across an extremely old (i wanted to say "ancient" for effect, but that just wouldn't be true) graveyard out in the middle of nowhere. there were a lot of large tomstones with names, dates, etc. and then there was this single, very small tombstone with only the letters "D" and "B" on it. no date. no other words. no actual name. just "D B" - so third brother (he who shall remain postless) took a phot and sent it to us. very odd. and amazingly enough, a true story. DB is truly dead.

you forgot to mention that it was the only relatively new looking headstone.

DEAD. BURIED. FOREVER. Curses to the next person who speaks it! And the brother's apologize for introducing it to the world. DB may as well be Steve Bartman. Ugh, me and Ouchie created the Suns Steve Bartman. Screw us!

he's also not the offensive juggernaut Amare is and his defense on Duncan is over-rated. He also hasn't shown the ability to completely elevate his game in the playoffs, whereas Amare EXCELS in that area, posting SICK numbers in the playoffs.

but offense isn't the problem in phx. he hasn't elevated his game in the playoffs is a fair statement, but iirc he has never won a playoff series so how much of a chance has he really had. he has always been on crap teams and the fact that he has lead them to the playoffs alone is something he can hang his coat on. amare has been able to score better in the playoffs, yes but his D on duncan was terrible and asking what we did of KT was absurd. Maybe another reason that his numbers (especially against the spurs) in the post season are so great is that teams come out with the attitude of "let amare get his, shut down the rest".

As long as Marion gets shut down by PGs like Terry and Parker, which allows Howard and Bowen to cover Nash, the Suns will not get past Spurs or even the Mavs. Whether we get KG is not as important as to ship off Marion!

Oh man, just think of what kg would do to dirk on the defensive end!

Damn you shawn, embrace your destiny and go to boston and help put the suns over the top. That is your destiny, not to be one of the guys that helps us win it. You are our Nomar.

my thoughts exactly. he's done enough for us, well not really, but he has to go. he does not deserve that max contract, and he is not as good as he thinks.

it sure as heck fire does now. ever since that thing was created we've seen: JJ get injured in 2005, Amare, KT AND Raja get injured in 2006 and then we had the suspensions in 2007. If that ain't proof of a complete and utter jinx, I don't know what is.

I believe I had mentioned that when you first posted it this year. The DB thing wasn't working so well.

This is just for Ouchie:

Taylor: "odds are just extremely high" KG stays

From Sid Hartman:
Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor made it clear that a blockbuster trade offer would be the only type he would listen to for All-Star forward Kevin Garnett.

And even then, the chances are nothing would happen, Taylor said.

"I've talked to Kevin and he is very happy staying here with us," Taylor said. "He was excited about the acquisition of Juwan Howard [in the Mike James trade with Houston]."

"We're going to listen to any offer," Taylor said. "It would just have to be an exceptional deal for us. "I mean you're right, the odds are just extremely high [Garnett will remain with the Wolves]. I don't know what kind of a deal it would be, but it would have to be something..."

Sid's conclusion:
If you listened to Taylor, you too would be convinced there is zero chance that Garnett will be traded.

Needless to say, it's up to KG to keep supplying the boot here.

Well, I must say that KG is an idiot if he doesn't push for a trade. He is 31 and doesn't look that Wolves will be contenders anytime soon. This is golden oppotunity to get to a championship caliber team.

This is why I caution optomism and ultimately blame for this trade.

lmao at KG being excited about the aquisition of Juwan Howard. I guess McHale was finally able to put the pieces around KG to make them a contender!

Or he is someone who actually respects his employer and the fans of the team he plays for.

he has demonstrated that by staying there as long as he has, really. i'm sure the wolves ownership and the fans all know that KG wants to be moved, and really it's best for both ends if that happens

let me pose this scenario: say NOTHING happens, right? The team comes back pretty much as is and goes for it one more year.

Next off-season, KT comes off the books and Marion may opt-out - say that happens, that opens up 25ish million dollars. Does the cap go up every year? If so, what is it next year and are we under the cap at that point and by how much? Then, if we are under the cap, who else would we have to move to make room to just sign KG once he opts out after another horrific year with the T-Wolves?

I think the T-wolves are too stupid to make a move this off-season. So, here's my call on the three scenarios that play out - trade deadline rolls around, the Wolves are horrible and hopefully the Hawks are as well. Then, we take Marion, offer up the Hawks lotto pick and a filler and wham - mid-season, the Wolves are SERIOUSLY screwed and have to take KG at .50 cents on the dollar and we get KG, who fills in the same way Sheed did for the Pistons and we run away with the rest of the season.

That, or we win the title next year, and then probably sign and trade Marion away somewhere, getting something decent back and reload with the Hawks pick.

Or, we lose next year, Marion and KT come off the books and we deal Banks or Diaw to make room to just flat out sign KG in the offseason.

Those are the three scenarios. One of those three happen or they don't (brillaint, huh?)

boooo!!!! that's no fun at all! if everyone took your stance, all we'd have to look at is 15 threads about the 24th pick, with a whopping 3 posts each inside of them! :)

The same employer who will trade him if they get what they consider "right" value...? Then he is even a bigger dofus.

This is a business and the ultimate goal of every basket ball player is to win the championship.

It really isn't best for both.

KG is the only draw to the Timerwolves. Rebuilding teams suffer from apathy and the potential to be perpetually stuck in rebuilding mode. This is the reason that the Timberwolves simply don't have to trade him.

Yes they may regret it in the long term, but in the short term the difference for their franchise with KG and without KG would be the equivalent of us without Nash.

It is fun to speculate but I would be amazed if anything happens. There are simply too many ways it could go to pot.

We wont get under the cap until Nash and Marion are off the books.

what will the cap be in 2008? if Marion opts-out after next season, along with KT, my numbers say we'll be at 54, right? what's the cap right now? will it go up at all over the next year?

Right...

If he doesn't demand a trade and basically break his contractual obligations, then he is a doofus. I find his loyalty to be one of his best traits. If we did somehow acquire him I think that sense of loyalty is invaluable in resigning him.

oh believe me, i agree, but at least we have something to talk about other than suspensions, * and all that crap. It's a good sign of MOVING FORWARD.

Marion opting out is probably a pipe dream. He probably gets 10 million a year and that means he has to work half a season virtually for free by opting out.

he is the only draw, but they have to think about him too. he has done all they could have asked of him, even winning an mvp while with them and the management simply has not gotten the job done.

i don't think the nash comparison is fair. the suns without nash can still make the playoffs-maybe. the wolves with garnett aren't making the playoffs, so without him one could only imagine where they are. They do not have to trade him, but what a disaster it would be for them to get nothing for their future hall of famer and the ex mvp.
