So now the discussion is:

Where would marion be happy so these two teams can get down to business?

Bobcats for Morrison/Hermann/#8?
Milwakee for Redd and #6?

If MARION is not getting enough spotlight here, and wants to be the superstar, why doesnt he tell US where HE wants to go?

Marion doesn't have enough pull in this matter. There is no way he goes to Boston, and then opts-out giving up his 17 mill. Call his bluff Ainge. If he does want out next year, try a sign and trade.

I will hate him forever if he is the sole reason the Suns cannot land Garnett. It pains me to say that, but someone like Marion should not have any control where he goes.

So far, it sounds like the major hang up is that Minnesota does not want Marion, Minnesota wants Amare. Why would that be Marion's fault?

I'm almost certain, that at the end of the day Shawn Marion will indeed screw the suns once again, as he does every year during the playoffs.

UGH - he's ALWAYS the reason we won't win a title. 13.7 ppg in the three biggest series of the year the last three years and now his prima-donna ass is possibly going to kill us AGAIN.

seriously, I'm seathing with Marion hate right now and if we do keep him and next year, he goes belly-up in the playoffs again, NO ONE here better defend his prima-donna ass.

i think we are all officially going crazy over this:

IF KG only wants the suns, how much is it really going to take to get him?

i dont think Diaw would be included in this. he makes WAY TOO MUCH money to be put on a rebuilding team, and his production is too much in question.

Barbosa COULD be included....but the Wolves already are loaded in the front court. Jaric/Hudson/Hassell make a boatload. McCants and Foye are young too. it is possible i guess.

But why the heck would boston give up a #5 pick for someone who's saying he doesn't want to play there. Boston would rather just pick somebody than deal with this idiot.

Don't worry, I'm working on a growing potion for Marion.

I think its wrong to bash marrion because of this. Marrion ahss never been happy here and has always felt as if he was the third wheel to nash and Amare. he basically usually keeps his mouth shut and just plays. now that Kg comes along and marrion says he doesnt want to be in boston we find some way to criticize him. I think we tradr Amare if its the only way to get kg. Nash marrion and Kg would still be pretty impressive trio that would get us past the spurs. Marrion is still a great player dont take anything away from him because of this situation. it would be better if we traded marrion for kg but if we have to trade Amare so eb it.

better make it quick cause I'm ready to ally the troops from LA to find him and do what JC did to Mustaf (set up him for murder to finally get him off the damn team).

honestly, how much leverage does Marion have? His people HAVE to be telling him that if he opts out, he's never gonna make the money back that he'll lose with that last year.

make the three way deal with Boston and let Ainge be an idiot an offer Marion the moon, like I think he will.

that team can't even beat the Mavs, much less the Spurs.

Stein says the 3-way is off the table because of marion. I dont think even ainge will trade a #5 pick for a clown who doesnt want to be there.

and now we also see how Boris playing like a banana slug has also killed this team.

Take Boris from last year and Barbs from this year and ATL's pick and wham, Minny makes that deal. But with the stench of croissant encrusted-crap emanating from Boris, he's basically an anchor, dragging down any possible deal.

Trading what little depth we have and our future draft picks for one guy is dumb, especially when we are already arguably the 2nd best team in the league.

If we lose Marion/Diaw and heap of picks for one player in KG then we lose this deal IMO. Who says KG/Amare will work anyhow? Look at LA when they gathered Malone/Payton and everyone thought they'd win it all.

If its Marion and Diaw without picks then maybe, but i would be nervous mortgaging the future for one dude when we are already so so SO close to breaking through.

You and me, because we know "perq" is short for "perquisites." We also probably agree if you lose your temper, it means your temper was "piqued" not "peaked."

True, but "piqued" is also what dictionaries say, so everyone else is just wrong in that case. Whew!

Well then, since Marion said he doesn't want to play for Minny OR Boston, would he want to play with an old friend in Jersey? How bout a 3-way?

Minny gives: KG, Davis, Blount
Jersey gives: Jefferson, Collins, Cliffy, #17, 2009 1st round pick
Suns give: Marion, KT, Diaw, Jones, #29, #59 and Atlanta 08 pick

Minny gets:
Jefferson (4 years left)
Thomas (expiring/player option would have to be used)
Diaw (5 years)
Collins (2 years)
Robinson (expiring)
#17 from Jersey
#1 from Suns (2008 pick via Atlanta)
2009 1st round pick from Jersey

Jersey gets:
Blount (4 years left)
Marion (2 years left)
#29 from Suns
#59 from Suns

Suns get:
KG (2 years left)
Davis (expiring)

Gives Minny some cap space, but it also gives them 2 young guys to play with Foye and McCants.

Gives Jersey 2 more offensive guys that play good defense along with a late pick to leave overseas.

Gives the Suns a better defensive/rebounding team and some cap space next summer.

New Line-Ups:
Minny...
Diaw/Jaric/Hudson
Foye/Hassell
Jefferson/McCants
Howard/Robinson
Collins/KT/Madsen

Plus #7, #17, #41 this year and Atlanta 08 pick, Jersey 09 1st rd pick
They can use some picks to move players like Jaric, and Hudson. Gives them a lot of flexibility.

Jersey:
Kidd/Williams
Wright/Adams/B Robinson
Marion/Nachbar
Kristic/Boone
Blount/Ilic

This strengthens the team if VC leaves or they can't resign him. Plus they have #29 and #59 pick this year.

Suns:
Nash/Banks
Bell/Barbosa
Davis/Hill (MLE)
KG/Jones
Amare/PJ Brown (LLE)

Give up some depth, but can to that through free agency. Say use MLE on Hill (or Matt Barnes) and LLE on PJ Brown. That would keep the running going and increase defensively, especially against the Spurs. Bell on Ginobili, Davis on Parker, KG and PJ on Duncan. Leaves Nash, Barbosa and Amare to pound them offensively. It increases rebounding significantly as well.

I have got to shut down for a while........:)

If neither Minnesota nor Boston will take Marion, the deal is dead. Any other third team will understand that the Suns are over a barrell trying to get Garnett and set an impossibly high (or low, depending on your perspective) price.

It's time to get Marion's agent on the phone and tell him to talk some sense into his client. No one is going to give him a big contract next summer, and he's more likely to get a nice extension from the Celtics in two years than from the Suns.

this trade isn't going to happen and I hope... forget, it, that was just gonna be too much. it's only basketball.

even in the offseason, Marion has seemingly found a way to keep the Suns from a title. WOOOO-HOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree but considering Shawn Marion has the apparent intellect of a squashed earthworm, I'm thinking it doesn't matter what his agent tells him. Nowhatimsayin'?

You are missing the real story. McHale cannot trade KG and make his team better, at least not for quite a while. But KG is pushing him to do "something", so he say's sure, "I'll ask for Amare" and then when that failes, he can say he tried.

Unless KG absolutely forces McHale to do a deal, it isn't going to happen. Unfortunately for the Suns, KG is not the kind of A-Hole that Kobe is to use scorched earth tactics to get what he wants.

I'm not sure if this is true, especially into the future. If Amare had healthy knees he would totally be in the no trade category because of his youth and salary.
