I'd like to see us take a chance on him if he's healthy now.
We've got the cash to pick up both he and Muhammed. That's an upgrade to say the least.

Looks like it's time to spend some of that $17+ million the Cards have under the cap...Robinson would make a fine addition to the team...if healthy of course...

One person I am hoping will chime in is Ed since he is in Chicago, but I have been touting Robinson for several months now. He will finally be 100% healthy, he will have a chip on his shoulder to prove he is back, he was starting to perform on the same trajectory (just not quite as high) as Boston and he is without all the baggage Boston had. I think this would be a wise pick up for the Cards.

take a look

It would be great to figure out our WR position before the draft to an extent. Call Robinson, make him workout, a physical... if happy then sign him before the draft on the 26.

I'm not so sure. He had some back problems, which are notorious for not ever really going away. Also, if he's healthy and such an impact player, why would the Bears let him walk? They're not in too much cap trouble, are they? Why not let somebody like Dez White go?

Sure, I say sign him; but I hope that won't preclude us from pursuing M. Muhammad, too.

The Bears are the same team that had Jim Miller and Chris Chandler as the 1-2 QBs last season - their offensive prowess is suspect. Hopefully we get him since I've been watching the Bears for three years since moving here and he is good.

It was his neck and back and then he had a knee problem on top of that. However, it wouldnt be a bad idea to give him a looks-see at a reasonable price. The problme is other teams will be thinking the same thing. He has the talent but 3 injuries in 3 years makes teams very leary

I should know this but I don't, why did Chicago release him if he's going to be healthy, salary cap?
He's only 28 and ESPN says they save about 2.6 off the cap. Sounds like a possibility for us I'm just curious why they chose to release him, I wonder if this means they're more confident about Terrell's foot being healed or if they just wanted caproom?

Actually it was his back first in 2000, then the knee. There was alot of speculation that in an effort to favor the back when he came back in 2001, the knee got hurt. Actually a very common thing to happen. The knee is now over 18 months from initial injury so that should be 100% by now. The back is tricky but the surgery was successful. Speaking as someone who has had 2 of the operations he underwent, he should be fine since I can do almost anything and he is in ALOT better shape than I am. I am not at all concerned with his health as I believe he will be fine and ready to play.

I have said it before, that he and Boston were on similar statistical trajectories before he got hurt. In 99, Robinson had 84 catches for 1400 yards and 9 TDs...then the injury in 2000, but not before he had 55 catches and 5 TDs in 11 games. average it out and he would have had 80 catches and 7-8 TDs.

He has been the forgotten man in Chicago since they have essentially given up on him (wrongly) and they have a good sum of money tied up in the WR position in Booker and Terrell. Their cap situation isn't horrible but it isn;t good either. It is very perplexing to me why they don;t keep him since he restructured last year to give them cap relief.

Russ, my understanding is the Bears are about $5 million under the cap right now before releasing him which gives them little wiggle room with the rookie cap there. That is a factor. Also, I think they are going to sink or swim with Terrell...and of course Booker. The troubling thing to me about this is how piss poor Dez WHite is in reality and why they are letting MRob go and keeping Stone hands...you guys think Boston was dropping alot, this guy seems to drop 1-2 per game.

Yes you are right. Either way he had back and knee issues. I would chance it, especially considering this WR corp. They need to take a shot or a risk somewhere for sure.

Stone hands being Dez White? I was never overly impressed with him but I don't see the Bears play enough. I know Terrell had the dropsies as a rookie but I was a bit surprised he didn't start last year before the injury I know there was all the attitude issues but in my mind he's better than Dez White if he's healthy.

As I've posted several times I would love to have traded for Terrell if Chicago decided to trade him. I'm still not convinced they have the right offense to utilize him I think he'd be much better playing with Blake here but that doesn't appear likely to happen.

Stone Hands = Dez White. The guy is horrible. A drive killer IMO.

The Bears must think Terrell will bounce back from the foot injury otherwise I think they would have hung onto Robinson. He did have the dropsies as a rookie. Clearly the Bears offense doesn;t play to Terell's or even Booker's strengths but that could change since Kordell has a much stronger arm than Jim Miller (no offense to Miller but my 95 year old grandma has a stronger arm than Miller). The question is, will Shoop, their OC, open up the passing game since he has gone for those dinky 1-3 yard patterns hoping the receiver can break a tackle. If he opens it up, I think Booker and Terrell will have HUGE years.

Even though I have been a staunch supporter of the Cards decision on DB they have to finish it with signing at least one the players you have listed. I say grab 2 of the 3 and draft a rookie after rd 3.

Then they need to get Shelton, Wilson, Thompson and ??? signed to extended contracts. This would make the off season an A+ on my score card.

Ok, here's my inaugral post as a rookie on this board.

It makes sense that the Bears cut Marcus Robinson when you consider that his contract was negotiated when he was a firm #1 receiver. Now he's the #2 (or possibly their #3) his contract, though not inordinately large, probably doesn't jibe with their long term priorities. Now, I know that the Cards are not prone to adding bells and whistles to contracts but he would be a great guy to sign to a minimal contract with a bonus tied to him participating in X amount of snaps.

Still, I'm a bit biased, as I'm a University of South Carolina Alum just like Mr Robinson.

Open Letter To Jerry Sullivan,

If the Cardinals happen to sign Marcus Robinson, please, PLEASE, in the name of all that his holy, do not, I repeat, DO NOT, use him in that silly WR-screen scheme the Bears used a couple or years ago.

Good news Ken. In Sullivan's first interview after being named the offensive coordinator, he told Mike Jurecki of KDUS that there will not be any of that dink and dunk crap anymore. He said he wants to air it out DOWN the field. They brought in the perfect QB to do just that. Now lets hope that they can secure a veteran WR to throw to as well.

Wow, that was quick! Thank goodness...maybe I should write open letters more often :D

Seriously, I'm glad to hear that. If Robinson were added, I still believe he posesses the top end speed to make a vertical passing scheme work.

Now if he could only teach "Jerry's Kids" how to get open...

Are you sure, Russ? I can't find that anywhere. KFFL is usually pretty good about posting that sort of thing, too.

They used it last year too. That offense sucks. How John Shoop kept his job as OC is beyond me. I cannot figure it out.
