The weird thing is this is a kid who's been working out with a pro trainer since he was 10 years old, you would think that guy would have told him you're clearly hurt rather than tell him to change his shooting motion.

Glad they're going to sit him although 3 games doesn't seem like long enough

And I do not know what the 76ers were thinking. I would think they had their fill of injured players.

I think Ball would have been the better choice for a PG.

They have Lonzo Ball except he's 6'10" and can finish at will. Time will tell but i think they made the right choice. Nobody saw a silky smooth jumpshot imploding after a few weeks. The is a indictment on the medical staff if anything.

Ainge is definitely looking good for trading down though. I heard Fultz did an interview with the Celtics with his hood on which is a bad look even though it may have been agent motivated with Isaiah still there at the time.

The knee injury was the first sign that something was odd when he stopped playing at UW because there were conflicting reports that his knee was fine he was just sitting out because he didn't want to risk getting hurt before the draft. Obviously that was not true, but as we discussed here at the time, there really wasn't a good answer for him, admitting he wasn't really hurt made him look non competitive, but admitting he was hurt would possibly impact his draft status.

I feel bad for the kid that it got to this point before he sat, he clearly shouldn't have been playing at all.

Agreed I don't think they were drafting a PG I think they were drafting a guy who could play PG but was a knockdown shooter because they knew Simmons was going to be their Pointforward.

Lonzo is a terrific playmaker but you're not taking the ball out of Simmons' hands for Lonzo, and Lonzo is not a good enough shooter to want to play him off the ball.

The problem so far is Fultz is hurt, and Fultz has shown very little effectiveness playing without the ball.

I couldn't understand why this didn't red flag or hurt Fultz's value entering the draft. It seemed like many teams simply ignored it. I can't remember other prospective draft picks in college sitting significant time because of risk of injury. This would normally hurt a player's value. Fultz was a freshman and he did not have huge body of work to evaluate.

I think the Celtics were smart to trade down with Fultz considered the #1 pick. If the Suns had been picking first, I would have wanted them to trade down unless they considered Ball worthy of the first pick. I guess I question if Fultz was worthy of the first pick for the 76ers. Perhaps they should have given Fox a closer look who will be very good in time.

The Sixers probably should have stayed at 3 and drafted Tatum or Fox. Who knows how the draft would have gone had they stayed there but they might have ended up with Fultz at 3 also, depending on what the Celtics decided to do. I don't think a player should be called a bust during their first month but I don't think Fultz was worth the #1 pick, especially since Philly gave up the #3 and a lottery pick this year to get him.

Yeah I don't love Tatum but he is a pretty good shooter.

We'll see on Fultz, it's hard to say because at UW he almost always had the ball but I see a guy who's entire game is built on working with the ball. He always reminded me of Chris Jackson the LSU guy, it was like he spent his entire childhood in a gym alone or with a trainer working on moves to get off a jumper. In college he was unguardable, but in the NBA he really struggled to be part of a team. Had some good scoring years on bad teams but was never really an impact guy on a good team.

Fultz is bigger and more athletic, but I don't think he's as good a shooter/scorer as Jackson was. Same kind of game though everything is off the bounce, he's got a bunch of moves and counters that he's been drilled on for years, I just never have seen any indication he can play off the ball.
