They're not a likable team. Their best players have zero charisma, they don't share the ball, and they make incredibly stupid mistakes. Even diehard fans on this board find them difficult to watch. I'm not in the least bit surprised that the crowd is apathetic.

Well said. The most likable player on this team was Dragic. Now that he's gone, it's as clear as day that there is little-to-no personality. Bledsoe, albeit a very good player, just doesn't exude any emotion, which makes it hard to really embrace the guy.

Maybe Knight turns into that likable player, but I don't know enough about him to really discern that.

the twins are complete morons.
Either that or they want out. Having seen the Suns manage to work out a deal to trade two brothers recently.

It looks like they are torn between putting up some numbers sporadically to keep themselves in demand and . . . wanting out.

Or maybe they are complete morons. :D

Between brothers and overloading one position, the Suns have created a zoo.

Perhaps the Front Office are the morons.

Our fan base has been strong when the players have given them something to cheer about. Listen to this, even the commentators are laughing about it because the fans are so loud.

What's funny is that Kieff was even on the bench when this happened.

The Suns by and large have enjoyed great fan support for close to 50 years now. Players who've only been on the team for a few years and who didn't grow up cheering for it don't really know anything about anything. It's also pretty ridiculous for Markief to tell a fan that "you have to take the good with the bad" when he can't even handle a dip in crowd enthusiasm.

I used to point out the disadvantages Phoenix sometimes has a market compared to others with larger corporate based and fewer transplants, but the reality is that after having lived in a number of cities with "storied" franchises, I don't find Phoenix's supposed bandwagon nature to be all that unique. Fans get frustrated everywhere, and "unwavering" support almost never holds true across all of a city's teams.

Great post. All this whining about "the fans" is laughable. I grew up 30 mins outside Manhattan. Went to college 45 mins outside of Boston. Lived in Dallas and Chicago. And now Phoenix for the past 14 years. And I find the fan situation here in Phoenix not unlike anything I've seen in previous places where I lived. With the exception being the Cubbies and to a much lesser extent, the Blackhawks, Bruins, Red Sox, Giants, Bears and the Rangers, and to an even lesser extent the Cowboys....
But make no mistake, the Yankees, Mets, Knicks, Nets, Rangers, Devils, Islanders, Jets, Bulls, White Sox, Mavericks, Stars, Texas Rangers, all of the Houston teams, Celtics - all suffer from dropped attendance when their teams suck.

I attend 15-20 games a year (company has season tix). And I would say that the vast majority of the time, US Airways Center is a great experience. Now, if the Suns are getting crushed, it's not so loud. But when the Suns are playing well, and/or its a tight game, I rate the fans and their engagement as high as anyone would ever have a right to expect!

Um. Keef. This isn't Kansas anymore. Maybe we should start calling him Dorothy.

The fans are usually silent when you are laying a -27 point egg. If it was Philly or Chicago, they would be booing YOU at every opportunity.

Wolfley, on the radio this morning, said that the biggest problem about this is not the insult to the fans, its the mentality that is always shifting blame.

This story is not about Phoenix and the fans. It is about a player who will not hold himself accountable and will shift the blame to fans, other players etc, when he performs poorly.

Its not a pretty picture.

Yep... Hard to believe that after a game in which you put up a record low 24 points in the first half, your first reaction is to take down the fans... The guy has some serious problems...

My guess is that having the 2 brothers together exacerbates this greatly. No matter how stupid their stance may be they always have each other for reassurance.

I absolutely agree with Morris. I think he just got emotional and is just comparing Suns fans, atmosphere here, to other venues when they play. I am not sure if it its corporate crowd, transplants or what it is, fans here are just not that loyal and as passionate. The problem he is going to run into is the fact he told the truth ane in this day and age everybody needs to be politically correct which is freakin sad. Now with that said, i completely agree that tickets are way too expensive and really think that fans should have an union and somebody that represents our interests. Tired of watching these ahletes making millions of $ acting like babies crying and complaining about everything.

So tired of this attitude... Have you actually lived in other cities? Have you spent time attending games in other cities?
My earlier post was partly intended to show that Phoenix fans are in fact, NO different than most other cities!

I'd agree with this to a degree. I think it's more the NBA product (not just the Suns). I've been to games in 7 or 8 cities and my beef is with the cost of going to a game it's more a status than anything else. The cheesy bad music and sound effects. I personally can't stand going to games anymore. I still love going to baseball games, but avoid the NFL and NBA anymore. I don't think Phoenix is all that different than anywhere else in that regard.

Can someone show me where he actually called the Suns fans the "worst in the NBA"? I listened to his comments and didn't hear it. The OP quoted the comment so I'm assuming those words were said.

Yeah I can't find it either. Overly-dramatic headline. :bigyawn:

Although the Wonder Twins should just keep their mouths shut. Like Markieff as a player (for the most part) but he needs to stop yapping.

I think he supposedly said something like that either in the locker room or in a deleted tweet. But I really have no problem with what he's said publicly since then, I would just question the timing. The Marcus tweet to the fan is of far more concern to me.

I am starting to have a problem with Markieff but I'm not as anti-Morris as most of this board is. He's just too inconsistent to depend on him as a key starter though. Pair him with a top notch small forward and look at him as your 4th option and he starts looking pretty good. But I think we keep expecting him to be one of our 2 or 3 best guys and he disappears too often for that role. I also think we're suffering from a void in leadership and it's pretty clear that void shouldn't be filled by the twins.

I heard the replay of his comments this morning... He never said Suns fans are "the worst in the NBA"... He made a lot of comments that were derogatory about the fans, but never called them the worst. What baffled me most was when he went rambling on about how he expects Suns fans to "heckle" other players, like LBJ and D-Wade... Huh? So if we heckle other players that shows we are better fans???
And then he went on to say that he has no issues with the fans that sit in the first three rows!
The dude is a moron!

The Morris twins are a locker room cancer. They are all about themselves.
I agree with Wolfley what he said on his show this morning: trade them.

Winning will bring the fans back.

When we got rid of Nash the sellouts ended.

Bingo! When Jerry signed Tom Van Arsdale for one season to join Dick in the twilight of their careers, it was a rather harmless gimmick compared to Ryan McDonough signing two pairs of brothers in the prime of their careers.

A key part of crossing the line is knowing when to stop. Putting two pair of brothers on the same NBA roster gives strength to cliques and power struggles.

And now it has! With both the Dragic and Morris situations.

Anyone with a background in management would know that this was a problem waiting to happen. I can't believe how naïve Sarver and his crew are.

Lol, yes actually i have. I am Serbian, i grew up there, went to games there blah blah. I am not even try to explain to you how different those fans are how different atmosphere is at those games. You know when 20 k people are singing a song you actually do get goosebumps - the feeling is unbeliveable. Also, been to numerous Chicago Bulls games in Chicago and yes needles to say it is different than here. Last time i went to a game Stoudemire dunked on somebody i got up excited and two older ladies behind me got mad because they could not see anything. That was the last game i wento to here.

Dont get me wrong fans here are good its just that there is lots of transplants that come to watch Bulls, Heat, Lakers....same thing with Cardinals. I believe its getting better but will take some time to change. Not trying to offend anyone just my honest opininon maybe not the most popular opinion to have living here but that is what i believe. To me it is what it is.

Kief with a stellar performance tonight. A technical and a flagrant 2 ejection. He was playing well too, his selfishness costs this team yet another game.

The team was an embarrassment tonight. Techs everywhere, Len ejected, Kief ejected, I thought Marcus was going out forsure as well. Yeah I really wanna pay to go watch these guys blow up.

Len is the only one I would defend. Watch the replay if you get a chance.
