Max needed to be taller and stronger. His heart is big enough and proves that anyone with talent has a chance to reach for thier dreams. I wish him many successes.

Not as much as wingnut. MH is worst I have ever seen.

My guess is that Tebow will never play another NFL game again at the QB position. That being said, let's compare their accomplishments.

Hall
Was the undrafted free agent that played so well, the team felt comfortable cutting its first round QB and heir-apparent to Warner. Had one victory as a starter, against the defending world champs (Saints). Offensive rookie of the week.

Tebow
Is the first round draft pick struggling to hold onto his job over a undrafted FA. Also had one win as a starter, against the Texans. Also offensive rookie of the week.

Tebow may hold onto his job because of the investment in him, but he certainly isn't earning it. At least Hall scrapped and clawed his way onto the roster. Hall wins, barely.

I do not think the Cardinals are giving up completely on Max Hall. It is highly unlikely that in light of his injury any team will claim him off waivers. So when he goes unclaimed the Cardinals will then be able to place him on the IR. Max will have another year to get stronger. This actually could be the best scenario for him and the Cardinals. Richard Bartel is a free agent next year---so who knows what will happen for the #3 job next year.

My guess is that they reach an injury settlement and send Max packing. Mitch, I think you are really stretching to the "max" on your continuing stance that Max can get stronger and be an NFL QB on any level. He just doesn't have the physical tools to do the job at the top level. I question whether he has the mental tools to do it desire and effort notwithstanding.

Last, certainly not least, is he has NO arm strength and can't make all the throws you have to in the NFL.

Hats off to the dude, he certainly tried hard, but sometimes that just isn't enough.

He is a nice "root for" story to the average guy but is truly a wasted roster spot on any team, let alone the Cardinals. With their apparent new M.O. as an organization they can't afford the luxury of a Max Hall feel good story hampering that.

I know it's a 3rd string QB discussion, but we saw last year how disastrous the wrong choice can be.

Sorry for the ramble but this Max Hall love deal just mystifies me.

Yeah Mitch, I had the same thought. The Mystery injury to his shoulder and the fact he was not eligble for the practice squad leads me to believe that since he was not going to beat out Bartel the Cards are trying to keep him and what better spot than on Injured reserve. As soon as I heard that he was injured on Monday I thought they were trying to keep him. We will see if there is an injury settlement or if he is back again next year.

the whole point of waiving him injured is so you don't have to put him on IR

Good guy, was fearless -- but simply lacked the NFL arm strength to succeed

I doubt he will be back with the Cardinals, or in the NFL

Hall was placed on "injured/waivers"---if he is not claimed, he goes on the IR...according to Urban.

I think you are correct Rats. The Cardinals like Max Hall. This is the one way---other than keeping 4 QBs this year---that they get to hold onto him so that he can still be in the mix for next year.

Good luck Max. Hope you don't catch on anywhere.

You're just not built right for the NFL and need to go do something else before you get permanently injured. IR last year after just 3 starts. Injured/Waived this year before the season even started. Time to give it up.

I've repeated time and time, again, that QB's in the CFL have to be either above average athletes or have better than average arm strength and accuracy given the dimensions of the field and three downs. So, I'll stand by my curt response.... thank you very much.

I've been thinking about Maximus the last few days.

Anyone else remember him going up to, whomever it was - memory block, in the locker room before a game last year, getting up in his face and saying, "Get your mind right"?

Took a certain amount of guts. But he also said it when the team was so down they weren't playing as a unit. I think he was a guy trying to get the team's collective heads back in the game. And I think that's why Fitz liked him. I also happen to think that's why Whiz likes him.

He played with the intangible quality called spunk.

Best wishes, Maximus. I'll never forget the look on Fitz's face when he handed you your first TD ball in the Tampa Bay game.

Me too. Lots of guys with limited ability play hard so it must be his local connection. That said he has the one game vs. NO to savor. My most vivid memory from that is when he was crushed and fumbled for a TD and Fitz ran over to pick him up. I love the Tebow comparison!

Henry Burris 6'1" 190 threw for 4,945 yards and 38 TDs for Calgary last year and won the CFL MOP. In fact there hasn't been a QB over 6'1" win the MOP this century.

But that doesn't mean mini-Max could be successful in the CFL of course.

field is kinda wide in Canada....a dude has to have a cannon to throw the out route.... Hall would never make it....unless he found a team that lives and dies by the screen pass...................

And...back to football talk

Are you saying the CFL isn't football?

But speaking of football and injuries we've now also lost ADub,and Ryan Williams.

So how does the loss of those two affect what the coaches had planned for the offense and defense? And no you can't just go out and get another guy and go on like normal. At least I hope the coaches are smart enough to know they have to adjust things to the skillsets their roster brings to the table on weekends.

Max Hall will have a very interesting decision to make when he clears waivers. He can ask for an injury settlement and get his release. Or he can choose to stay on IR. No matter what, he must see that getting back to the point where he could actually play in regular season games with the Cardinals has become extremely unlikely. The more Max realizes this--- the more apt it is that he will ask for a settlement and his release, so that he can plan his next move. This is a tough break for him because (1) it now adds further doubt around the league as to whether he can hold up physically and (2) he would have had a quarter this week to try to make a case for himself with other teams. Max has enormous will and conviction---and has an unfaltering belief in himself---so it will be interesting to see if he ever plays a snap in a regular season NFL game again.

Whiz said in a radio interview that it is a similar injury to the one that put him out last year. (Still wondering how a QB gets that kind of injury in a practice situation) If that is the case, he probably won't be playing football anywhere for quite a while. If that is the case, wouldn't IR be the better option, if it is up to him? I doubt he'd be able to catch on anywhere else until he's cleared as healthy, so he might as well take advantage of Cardinal doctors/trainers for the duration.

That being said, I think the decision will be out of his control. I truly think the Cards will be paying him a settlement and cutting him loose completely.

One More Tebow vs. Hall Comparison

On Tebow:

He can’t play. He can’t throw,” (Boomer) Esiason said, via Mike McCarthy of USA Today. “I’m not here to insult him. The reality is he was a great college football player, maybe the greatest college football player of his time. But he’s not an NFL quarterback right now. Just because he’s God-fearing, and a great person off the field, and was a winner with the team that had the best athletes in college football, doesn’t mean his game is going to translate to the NFL.”

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/08/24/boomer-esiason-tim-tebow-cant-play-cant-throw/

On Hall:

“The one thing we’ve heard about Max is the moxy and the leadership,” (Ron) Jaworski said. “Those are all wonderful attributes for a quarterback but the attributes you have to have week in week out to be successful over a long period of time is the ability to throw the football accurately and with velocity. When I look at the tape I don’t see either of those. “I don’t see the ball going down the field. You see the bubble screen, the bootleg thrown in the flat and nothing down the field. You just don’t see a skill set that projects to be a consistent NFL quarterback."
