If you had your choice
Bradford
Bridgewater
Taylor
Keenum
Foles
McCown
Gabbert
Which one makes you vomit the most.
I'm sure the 2 we going back and forth on would be top 2 lol
Difference is, all the rest will be looking for low-end starter money on a multi-year contract. McCown would be a good short-term mentor for a rookie, if that's what the Cardinals are looking for, and can still play even at his age at a better level than Gabbert has ever attained. Gabbert's upside once again failed to materialize last season, while McCown actually improved after leaving the Cardinals.

I'm not saying there's a world of difference between the two, and I was all for seeing what Gabbert could do in 2017, but after Gabbert actually made me want to see Stanton again, it became clear that I NEVER want to watch Gabbert again.

I guess you feel the same about McCown and i get that, but he's not the same guy as he was in 2005.

Patrick Peterson on Sirius radio, today, said that we should draft a QB and sign a FA. He likes Foles because he's an Arizona guy. Also, thinks he's good.

For what I figure is the same money I would rather have Bradford. I would assume that Josh will be looking for 10 to 12 mil for next year.
I don't it would be that high. He played for $7.65 million last season and that was the most he's ever made. I'm pretty sure he realizes his roll in the league these days.

I still want Dalton . so I'm the minority for sure
Dalton is who he is and that’s not a guy who can take a franchise to the next level without a lot of support. Also, you’re going to have to pay him ~$15-20 mil per season. Why not get a stopgap for $4 mil and draft the QBoF and pay him $4-5 mil next season?

Mike Glennon got paid $15 million last year. Which "stopgap" are we going to pay $4 million? Brian Hoyer?

Glennon was paid to be the starter before the draft and then the front office decided to trade up to get Tribusky.

And we're going to have to pay someone to be the starter, since the draft isn't happening until after our first minicamp. And in your own scenario, you're drafting the QBOTF, so... what's the difference?

I would definitely explore looking at Bradford. If he comes in for a cost effective contract and can stay healthy he could help bridge a young QB

Bradford is the FA QB that I'd prefer, injuries and all. I'd also bring back DS as insurance and draft a QB in Round One (you choose). My hope is that Bradford and DS lasts at least half a season, and then our QBOTF takes over.

I like the part about the QBOF taking over, Garth.

However, I don't think Bradford would sign as a bridge QB at bridge QB type money.

Furthermore, isn't it time to move away from Stanton? The QBOF should be getting all the reps he can behind the bridge QB. Stanton is one the main reasons why the Cardinals didn't draft QBs, as Palmer and Stanton were entrenched and taking all the 1st and 2nd team reps as #1 and #2.

I aint even thinking Bridge QB... I kinda prefer we draft a kid,...and that kid is starting no later than week 4,... but preferably week 1... use the vet for breathers, if the kid starts getting overwhelmed, pull him for a series or two and let him watch the vet as the OC explains where he is having issues and how he needs to address it.
our defense and running game are solid enough to keep us in reach in most games and the sooner the kid learns to beat a blitz the better.

unless we sign Teddy... Teddy is young enough that we can have open comp between he and a rook...may the best QB win...if we end up with a legit QB controversy then we have an excellent trade coming our way.... in that case we can trade the loser to cleveland after they ruin Sam Darnolds career

^^ great points Gandhi. McCown is a GREAT locker-room guy, a great leader of men, and would be respected by all. This is SO important at the QB position. I wonder what Fitz would think of him coming back and potentially being the starter all year?

Thank you, Brak, and thank you for your many posts. I think they are most interesting to read.

From what I have read and heard from local media guys, national insiders and people close to him, I would tend to believe that Fitzgerald is coming back. That said, what everyone else say and for whatever reason they say it obviously doesn’t matter. The only thing that matter is what Fitzgerald himself thinks.

I am, however, pretty sure that he knows what kind of man McCown is, and that it would intrigue him to play together with McCown. I also think that it’s a good thing in that regard as well to get Mike McCoy as the offensive coordinator since McCoy is a veteran coordinator who has a track record of success.

What do you think, Brak? Both on if Fitzgerald comes back, and if McCown could potentially influence the decision?

Call Nate Poole...We're putting the band back together. :)

PS I always thought we gave up on Josh way too soon. Kind of like Mitch's post about keeping QB and coaches together.
Giving up on Josh brought Kurt to the valley. Thank god we gave up on joshy

McCown was nothing special as a rookie, but then again the entire team was pretty crummy back then. But given his overall body of work, and how he performed when given the opportunity the past few years, I think it could influence Larry towards coming back.

I think it would be super-cool if Larry caught both his first AND last career passes from McCown - with Larry never having left Arizona, and McCown having been so well-traveled over the course of his career. I doubt there's another HOF receiver who could check that box.

Yeah, but that was 14 years ago. I don’t think we can really judge him by that. He is probably a completely different man today.

What a great thought, Brak! That would be epic. Fantastic scenario.
