Funny didn’t this board rip the Bowles DC hire? Pretty sure we were going to hell in a hand basket.

Based on the initial reaction here, I’m good with the hire.

My concern is whether he can be provided enough talent on the offensive side of the ball.

More hires get ripped than don't, which is to be expected I guess when we all think we are stable geniuses.

Has McCoy been confirmed as the new OC? Haven't seen this verified anywhere this evening.

Last link that says he's in contract talks:

First saw report a half hour ago on NFLN crawl. Several media sources (including the official Card site) are being careful - saying that "a deal is near" or "they're working on a final deal."

A deal ain't done until it's done, but this one walks and talks like a done deal.

Instead getting our panties in a bunch let wait to pass judgement on this dude until we see what he does with OUR offense. If he dont pass the mustard can his ass next season. Simple enough!
I don’t know enough about him to comment either way. Didn’t know Mich about BA or Bowles either. Pleasantly surprised by both so I’m fine with a wait and see. The gods honest truth is none of us know anything about Wilks fit as a head coach because he’s not been one at the nfl level and the interplay of coaches together may have very different results than each has had on their own in the past.

Willing to give entire staff the benefit of the doubt until they prove inept.

Bertrand Berry was talking him up this afternoon, saying he is very prepared and organized. Same dna as Wilks. Wilks doesn't need to look over his shoulder constantly. There is a consensus in the FO that he will bring stability to that side.

Forum concern with him working with a young signal caller is legit. But he should relish the chance, especially if he's a 1st rounder. But Cards could wait to see if one of the premier OL fall to their pick, so trade up is not on radar at this time.

Alex Smith will mtl cost their 2nd. Berry really likes McCown or Bradford as "mentor" QB's and thinks L. Jackson has great potential/leadership if he can sit for the next year and learn. Even readily be a red zone option very quickly.

Two clues to MCCoy's hiring:

- JW's comment about building the offense around a strong running attack (a McCoy strength)

- JW's comment on the importance of creating favorable matchups (another McCoy strength).

Something to remember is that this is probably McCoy's last shot to be something in NFL. Hopefully we dont have to worry about his motivation to evolve & adapt. No coach is going to be pigheaded about changing up his system after been fired twice in under a year.

This board is going to explode no matter who we sign.

One thing’s for sure... this board is gonna be old school crazy almost all off-season long.

Wilkes was a bit of blip on the radar, mostly because there’s so little info on him and no Coach was out there to knock our socks off.

But with a franchise changing decision at QB, you can bet FA and the draft are gonna make this place go gonzo.

So many unknowns on the offensive side of this team to even begin to judge McCoy. Who will be the QB? Who will be the backup QB? How well will D. Johnson come back from his injury? Will Fitz need to be replaced? How is the Oline going to get fixed? Do they keep AP? Does AP have any trade value? Outside of Fitz the WR group is unsettled. I think McCoy has a hell of a task ahead of him.

I retired in riverside county (SoCal) recently. Spent 30 years in the valley before heading further west. I had considered following LAC ot LARams but BA kept my interest. With BA following my lead, I figured perfect time to move on. With all the uncertainty no way I miss this.

Back in the 90s the off-season was far more entertaining than the regular season.

This board contributes to the entertainment big time. Timely News, mainly well thought out speculation, great game breakdowns/analysis, passionate frustration and a bit of humor. I’m good with a bit of old school crazy...

I still hate this hire & would have picked a guy out of college, but hopefully McCoy knows he’s on his last legs in the league & that’ll make him switch up his philosophy.

I miss a lot of the old school humor. I think the board went belly up in that regard when Section 11 faded out . . .
