Michael Bidwill: It starts at the top

I cannot find an article online, but I have heard Bruce Arians say this, and Steve Keim says this about Bidwill, and it is nothing but a huge pile.

"Michael knows when someone is [B.S.]ing him."

Yeah?

How is that working out for Bidwill ? Sure, did a good job sniffing out Steve Keim, and Daryl Washington, and countless other players, and coaches.

Did a great job of separating the current used car salesman Steve Wilks fancy talk from actual ability.

But at least we didn't let a good offensive coordinator walk out the door last offseason....right.......RIGHT ?

As for the whispers, and rumors that Bidwill has more and more influence on the team decisions? How has the last couple of years gone with free agent signings, and draft classes ?

For all the work Bidwill did to get the label of "Same Ol' Cardinals" off this organization, well he was a MASSIVE reason why this team fell so far, and so hard.

Bad seasons happen. Losing seasons happen.

A season like this ? Never seen anything like it. The team is bad, the team unwatchable, the team is an insult to professional sports.

As for the future, what is to look forward to? What players have a fan excited ?

But, do not worry, let's extend a general manager and watch him get a very public DUI right before the season. Guess Mikey didn't figure out he was getting [B.S.]....again.

Let's hire a smooth talking coach that is the anti-Bruce Arians, because Arians was so stubborn about doing it his way, and that was so hard dealing with all that winning, and bottoming out at .500.


But, hey, since the Cardinals are doing SO well, let's double down on bad decisions and go full political on the team's website, and follow it up with a media tour about it.

Because he has been as big a failure as an owner of a professional sports team, as the team on the field.

A little humility and looking in the mirror for Michael, will do him some good. Keep your personal stuff, personal, keep your hubris at bay, and hire a football expert to run your team, and get the hell out of his way.

That would be a good place to start.

Actually I think MB is much less involved in those things than most owners in the NFL. He made a bad hire in Wilks. Happens to the best. Keim was a good hire at the time and brought some success. But Keim was a year too late with the rebuild and missed on quite a few FA signings, letting good player leave while signing the likes of Gresham and Pugh to big deals. Actually I think his 2018 draft set us up well for the future. Coupled with his early success, I think it will ultimately buy Keim another season with a new HC. At least that what me thinks MB will do. Though the offseason DUI coupled with this embarassing season could maybe be enough for MB to pull the plug on Keim.

Been fan since 1973. Have seen many bad seasons during that time but usually one side of the ball is good whether it be offense or defense. This is the first time I can recall both sides of the ball being equally bad. Some of the offense woes can be attributed to a rookie QB which I understand Rosen is on a learning curve but the problems are more than him. Understand injuries play a part but the lack of depth on this team is significant and a major problem. That falls on the coaching staff and GM.

My point its, that Mikey has not been talked enough, and his hubris is a massive part of the problem.

At least his father's team's sucked because his father was cheap. That is better and more easily corrected than lack of football intelligence, which is where the Cardinals currently are.

With each embarrassing defeat, the chances of a clean sweep increase IMO. Michael made two good hires in Ken Whisenhunt and Bruce Arians. But he kept Rod Graves too long and the Steve Wilks hire has turned out to be a costly mistake.

There is plenty of talent on this roster. What is needed is solid leadership to maximize that talent and bring in new talent. The Cardinals have plenty of cap room and excellent draft picks. From everything I've heard, Michael has a good reputation in league circles. He should be able to attract very good front office candidates.

Michael talking publicly to the fans today basically serves no purpose imo. We all know he’s furious & embarrassed for the product the Cards walked on the field this season.

We as fans also all know what stares Wilks in the face in 2 weeks & probably Keim as well.

Did anyone see Wilks at his presser today? He had that staring at the deer in headlights look, he knows he’s dead man walking. Good riddance!

I like MB and think he is one of the better owners in the NFL. IMO thanks to him, we have the State Farm stadium which is one of the best in the NFL. I believe that he will make the moves necessary to get the Cards back on track.

Correct - both of them, in a short window of time, shows that he is out of touch with reality. Whether you agree with Kavanaugh or Kaep, neither or both, be consistent. If you sign on to resolutions to keep kneeling and other displays out of the NFL, follow the same guidelines yourself.

Same with the DUI's - you can't have zero tolerance for players, and then give Keim a slap on the wrist.

That's usually the case (although Mrs./Dr. Gollin would claim that it's more often the mom).

It raises a key point - We don't know what the Bidwill family dynamics are all about. Or whether MB is totally immersed in running the team or has (as many rich guys do) shifted his focus to politics, philanthropy, aviation or some other endeavor. Or the extent he influences key decisions vs. delegating to Keim or his HC. Or what roles Bill Jr, Nicole and Mr B still contribute to the overall picture.

Maybe someone is working on a "Tell All" biography, but so far as I know, there's a lot we don't know.

What we do know is something ain't working and things have to change.
