Mesa learned their lesson on that one. Scott Smith and company really worked their tails off to change the culture in Mesa to get things done

Glendale on the other hand can't do anything but get in their own way. Their opposition the casino is both antiquated and asinine. Apparently no one in that town has been to Talking Stick or Wild Horse Pass. It's not surprising at all that the Bidwills hate them. Not to mention the other crap they have pulled around the stadium. Not sure if there is a more poorly run city in all if Arizona.

I am not pro casino but it could only upgrade Glendale. Their lack of involvement in the Super Bowl is beyond comprehension.

I live in Glendale, I can't remember the last time someone I voted for won. The voters here almost always vote for the candidates who spend the most money. Those candidates almost always represent special interests that pay them. This last time around it was the east valley casinos donating big to keep the casinos out of Glendale.

I don't necessarily buy that. I think they have done a good job at making sure that there aren't any events for the Super Bowl in Glendale but providing the City of Phoenix does a good job, it shouldn't prevent the area from getting another Super Bowl.

You're absolutely right it makes no differance! None of the SB events were held in Dallas when the game was here. Now the weather sucked ass, but the Cards Stadium will most definitely see more SBs.

It added an hour each way to my commute from Tucson. I also find myself driving straight up and straight back rather than spending the entire weekend like I do when I go to U of A away games at ASU, Suns games (and like I used to do for Cards games at SDS) because I don't find the surrounding area to be much fun.

IMO the stadium is great where it is. There are plenty of eating and shopping right near buy. Tailgating on the great lawn is truly great. There is no problem for most people to get there. Gates are easily marked and the air conditioning is wonderful.

I will not debate that some maybe further away. But that fact that when I went the first year they were ASU was a distance for me some days 45 to an hour and getting out is was worse. I don't have any idea if you hate the circumstances that may stop some from coming. Me personally don't care where it is just that it is.

One small comment on pool fences. To fight law on pool fences is ridiculous. We have enough people and children dieting because a fence was not put up with a secured gate.
Back to my team.

Crisper ....... It pains me to inform you, but the NFL Experience as we know it, is no more! They are going to have a Super Bowl Village in Downtown Phoenix. They will have music, entertainment, some autograph opportunities, and some interactive events but nothing close to the NFL Experience that they have had for years. There will be no Super Bowl Card and Collectible Show that has always been associated with the NFL Experience. I was bummed when I received the news!

That sucks, if true. Previously, they had only said it would be "held in Phoenix."

We went to the one for SB XXX at SDS, the one in Tampa, and the last one here in Glendale. We had a lot of fun at all of them. We were looking forward to our 4th NFL Experience.

I love the sports on the West Side. This is where all the real sports fans live. Nothing but clowns and rich snobs on the east side.
Scottsdale, Tempe, and Mesa all turned down the arenas in multiple locations. Glendale came to play. They are only turned off right now because the city is in the dumper financially because of the Coyotes boondoggle.
It is and will continue to be the sports mecca of Arizona. I'll try to get to the Final Four there after the SuperBowl. This after the Pro Bowl and the Fiesta Bowl. Then I can hit some NFL playoffs and NHL playoff games.
I personally love any politician who doesn't feel like giving away my wallet every time a multimillionaire demands a free ride. They were taken in on the whole "it'll bring in more tax dollars" routine already.

Brian ....... Look at the Clarification above. Didn't mean to confuse anyone. There will be an NFL Experience but different and smaller.

Where the hell else is there room to build a structure of that size plus parking in the downtown area or anywhere in PHX? I thought they should've torn down PV Mall and put the Coyotes there but an NFL stadium is massive.

They will have several blocks sectioned off downtown that will be the hub, called the Super Bowl Village(aka Super Bowl Central) and that will be free of charge. They will have music and other entertainment as well as NFL organized activities and merchandise. Just an fyi.

I work downtown as well and am pretty sure we are hosting some events. I have received the "heads up" but no details yet. I oversee facilities management and security on my site so I am sure it will be a headache for me, not fun....

Hey, with they SB rotation now making it's way to colder cities, we likely won't see another SB due to this fiasco until the Cards are in a new stadium.

It would be nice if Mike could go all Author Blank on CoG and decide to build a new stadium more centralized.

I got no problem with what Mikey said, he's probably pretty pissed the light rail doesn't make it up to the stadium.

Wow a lot of hate for the city of Glendale. Remember they were the only city to step up and say they would build the stadium. One of the tribes volunteered to build it but it would have been in the middle of no where. Oh and is Bidwills comments sour grapes because, as a multi millionaire, the city wouldn't do his bidding??

It was a mistake to build anything out there in the first place.

Cardinals should either be at Riverview, or downtown PHX

Coyotes should have been either at Los Arcos, or downtown PHX

Should be, but you know they had no chance there. Glendale was the last resort for each and without it they would both be gone.

Glendale built the stadium? And I thought there was some old John F Long tied to all this.

Tempe messed up.

No, it was ready to go there but it was sabotaged by the City of Phoenix and the airport and the FAA.

I guess this is all a long time ago now, but nobody seems to remember what actually went down. Surprising, as I remember how intensely we all followed it for years.

No, they decided to not take his land offer to put it even further west so he could make a killing and go with Tempe. Then, he had a hissy fit and tried to sabotage the whole thing with lawsuits.

The funny part is SF had a high lite of a plane's shadow going over the field last night.

It was completely ridiculous as jets routinely fly over both SDS and Chase Field.

That's right. I misremembered there.

There's nothing there. Maybe a Mall with Bestbuy and a few restaurants but nothing like the night life that Mesa/Tempe has. If you google map the stadium, you see more farmland then buildings.
