I would think Sean wouldn't want to coach against his brother.

Tom Crean is available.

They're going to go after Mack and Cronin by all accounts. If they can't get them who knows, doubt it's Crean.

I'm sure they'll call Sean but he won't take it, timing not right has too good of a team this year.

What stunned me was seeing that Matta is 49, he looks 69, man coaching ages people. His recruiting class 2 years ago did him in he apparently got special permission to take a couple of those kids who were academic risks because they sensed TOSU was slipping. All the kids are gone already, Jaquan Lyle in particular was a nightmare to coach. They were apparently still going to give him another year but apparently things fell apart since then so they just pulled the plug.

Arizona and the Pac 12 are more of a college basketball prime time coaching destination than Columbus. There's no where to go that's up from Arizona, except maybe the trimuvirate of Kentucky/Duke/North Carolina.

UCLA fans who hate Alford are now spreading rumors that TOSU will lure Archie Miller to TOSU(his dream job) and then IU will hire Alford.

I'm not holding my breath on that one.

you would think that if Archie's dream job was OSU, he would have not taken the IU job, knowing on how thin ice Matta was

But they announced in like March that matta was coming back so while it was known his seat was very warm, nobody seemed to know he'd get fired in June.

And I don't know if TOSU is really Archie's dream job this is a UCLA fan base who will say anything to convince themselves Alford might leave. Remember the claim on why Sean wouldn't take the job is friends with Matta, and Sean's dad has issues with TOSU. Archie has the same dad, and is also friends with Matta, and it's come out that Matta is very upset with the TOSU AD so would seem unlikely Archie would take that job either.

Basically TOSU fell off when it came out during the football investigations that some of the same boosters involved with football players, were involved with basketball players. It's been awhile but TOSU had a verbal from Luke Babbitt and his dad was relocating to Ohio, with a job when suddenly Babbitt decommitted and virtually everyone recruiting him dropped him cold. It was because boosters had arranged for a job for the dad in Ohio(Luke's grandparents lived there) and it was discovered during the football investigations. Everyone recruiting Luke assumed he might not be D1 eligible so they backed off and he wound up at Nevada.

Essentially from that point on their recruiting got worse and worse because the NCAA ordered them to completely disassociate a number of boosters from TOSU athletics. Football survived just fine, new boosters I assume, but basketball didn't recover from that.

Late rumor Williams might pick Kansas but I don't buy it. UCLA boards have been telling us for weeks he's going to Arizona.

In a huge shocker he picked.... UA.

Really good player, UCLA was late to the party because they apparently until fairly recently assumed Jaylen Hands was at least a 2 year player. But after seeing Anigbogu blow up and go one and done they decided they better cover their bases if Hands did too and unfortunately Williams was already locked in at UA.

There are a tone of other west coast PGs in 2018. I know Miller is gonna try and land one more but I doubt it'll happen. Ucla will get someone else.

I'm not counting on Bagley but I think UA gets Bol, one of Cherry/Liddell and a lower ranked SG or SF. Miller probably selling that our entire starting lineup will be gone after next year and these west coast kids all know eachother.

who? The WC is pretty weak at PG that's why UCLA and others are all looking nationally. UCLA figured Hands would still be there but they were going after the national elites(Smart, Quinerly, Jones etc) because they figured only an elite would be willing to come in with Hands already there. Now they're thinking Hands might be a OAD(I doubt it, he's not THAT good), they want another PG. BRO is pushing Elijah Hardy from Oakland, seen him a few times he was very highly rated 2 years ago but hasn't grown and has slid, his best offers right now are UW and USC and it's not clear either of them is an "actionable" offer, he's looking at Santa Clara, SJSU etc. Good athlete but type of kid who probably won't play much at a good Pac 12 school until he's a junior. Most of the people wanting him have never seen him play they just see BRO touting him and assume he's legit when what he really is IMO is the best available WC pg knowing we weren't getting Williams.

Williams is the perfect guy he's good enough to play early and not so good he'll be a OAD, really good get for Miller.

I assume you guys are getting Cherry, I'm not high on O'Neal at all but Cherry is a baller, love that kid, him and Williams is a great start to the 18 class for you guys.

USC is apparently there with UA on Cherry but I'm betting he ends up at UA.

Has there ever been a coach that has jumped ship before Day 1 on the job? Even Petrino had the decency to quit 4 games into his first season in ATL.

A couple but not at a major job and usually because something materially changed. Chris Beard did it not that long ago he took the UNLV job and weeks later left for Texas Tech. He had been an assistant at Tech earlier in his career but the rumor was he had been promised by UNLV certain things including they had commitments from key players to not transfer or turn pro and then they all started leaving and Beard realized he'd been misled.

Ohio St is apparently offering the job to Greg McDermott. They really screwed up not going after Archie sooner. For the record I don't think he's a lock to turn IU around and would've been happier in Columbus.

Miller would've been happier had Maryland hired him straight from Xavier so I think it's a similar situation to Archie. What Sean had working for him was returning some solid guys from the previous team (even though Budinger and Hill left) but still had Nic Wise, Kyle Fogg and Jamelle Horne. With the Tim Floyd situation they were able to get two 4* kids and landed Parrom and Momo from back east. Even though that first year was pretty bad record wise everyone knew the pieces were in place. Indiana lost their good players and don't have much in terms of recruits coming in. He'll need to land some big fish next year to turn it around.

Sounds like Cherry to SC.

Yeah terrific player. No idea why he would pick SC I thought for sure he was going to Arizona. Really wanted him at UCLA great get for SC but I am surprised he's really going with SC.

Not a basketball fan, but just a FYI, my nephew came down to AZ to visit the Wildcats.

I am very impressed with how he has handled all the attention and noise around him with his success. Very down to earth, quiet young man, and on the court is kind of the "Silent Assassin" type.

For real, Quinerly is your nephew? That's awesome.

UofA basketball players are walking gods on campus. By far, the most respected and cherished athletes. The athletic department definitely prioritizes the hoops program and Sean Miller is an absolute player's coach. Every alum speaks highly of him.

That's pretty amazing. We have a recruiting insider now. ;)

I wanted Quinerly for a few months and wanted him over Williams. We knew the staff wanted him to visit but i thought it was a long shot given Williams committed first. His game reminds me of Tony Parker and I think both kids could play together.

Uncle, is he leaning a certain direction?

I have a feeling it's Villanova.
