because everyone who told him they were skeptical were ripped for not believing him. I didn't buy it from day 1 and I think it's been proven now to be untrue. Just once I'd like to see him take credit for being wrong as well as he takes credit for being right. IN the past when he's wrong the standard reply has always been to accuse the school who got the kid of cheating. That's his standard MO if wrong, he says the other school bought the recruit, i was right but the kid got paid.

He's the one who spread the rumors Kansas was buying Josiah Turner and the HS coach was steering him there. Turned out the HS coach was the only one involved who actually gave a crap about Josiah's academics and he got ripped for months by UA fans because 97 told them all the coach was the bad guy.

He has insisted for years that Cal paid Ivan Rabb's mom to get him to go to Cal, even though it was well known in the Bay area that Rabb had been telling people for months he promised his mom he'd stay home until his brother graduated HS.

Not even a week ago he posted as fact that Adidas paid TJ Leaf's dad 150K to decommit from Arizona and go to UCLA.

Now it seems pretty apparent he's not just wrong, he made this up to explain why he got the Walker recruitment wrong, and to make Miller look good with UA fans who believe everything he posts.

I'd just like to see him tell the truth this time instead of just ignoring it or saying Miller is not at liberty to tell the truth, which is the 2 most likely things he'll do.

Where and when did he say these things?

The Rabb and Leaf ones were discussed on beardownwildcats just last week and he again confirmed both happened.

The Turner one was years ago it was likely on the Scout board I don't exactly remember. If you start searching Turner on this board you'll see way back when he was verballed to ASU i was telling Devil fans he wasn't going to end up there, would decommit soon, and Kansas would be the leader .That came directly from a coach who got it directly from his mom. I knew a bunch of people around Turner I knew exactly what was going on, and I semi knew the coach Swafford. The guy is a legend around here largely because he's so been a father figure to so many kids and has emphasized academics so much. In addition to coaching at Sac High he used to teach at Sac State, and is now the AD at some charter school

Most don't know it but in a matter of weeks before leaving Sac High as a senior, Turner got into a fight, got busted with weed on campus, and got notified he was in danger of being academically ineligible for the 2nd semester because he was cutting classes. The one guy who was trying to help him was Swafford and he got attacked for it, really hard to watch if you knew what was actually going on.

What other stud recruiters with clean records are available? Romar is going to need some help and Book's future at UA is anyone's guess.

Book is gone. Already begun the termination process. There’s no way you can bring him back.

I mean, I didn't see him say anything like that so I'm asking. I know you love to drop any rumor you hear in here, and clearly aren't a fan of 97. So maybe you can help me out.

Only thing I saw him post about Leaf is that his AAU team steered him to UCLA, which everyone figured and nobody mentioned money.

Someone asked him if the 150k from Adidas to Leaf was still true and he said yes. and that rumor is an accepted fact on that board now.

The Rabb stuff is in the same thread, and was all over the Scout board when it started to become obvious that Rabb was going to Cal not Arizona. I actually called him on it then and told him that Rabb had promised his mom he'd stay home until his younger brother graduated HS. He insisted that wasn't true and would become obvious when Rabb was a one and done. Instead Rabb stayed 2 years, his brother graduated HS, and then Rabb turned pro. I got that 2nd hand from a guy who got it from Lou Richie who was his HS coach. his own mom publicly said we're not going to go to arizona just because that's where everyone thinks we should go.

To be clear I strongly believe he has very good contacts with the UA staff and that's why he has so much inside stuff on recruiting. And again, that's why it bothers me so much, everyone believes what he says, there are still people on that board defending him on the Miller was tipped off by the FBI stuff.

I actually don't post a fraction of the stuff I hear, mostly because I know much of it comes from UCLA fans who have a clear bias. We had our own Leaf rumors involving Nike trying to steal the dad and get TJ to play for the Oakland Soldiers, Gershon even confirmed the Soldiers story. After he flipped back to UCLA, Gershon admitted on BRO that he believed TJ was going where he always wanted to, the whole arizona thing had been an issue with his dad and Adidas(Don MacLean).

I have personal reasons I don't like him which I've probably posted here before.

If there is a second wave of schools that people have been alleging, it had better come soon and it better have some of the other big names that we recruit against. My guess is few 5-star guys sign a NLI with any school come November to cover their butts.

Oregon is all of a sudden recruiting both football and basketball like a monster. Not saying it’s happening, but if a report came out that Nike is funneling money to these recruits, it wouldn’t surprise me.

Oregon did make a FF but yeah I would tend to agree. Bol's recruitment was kind of silly, Arizona, USC, Kentucky and Oregon, and UCLA that was his final 5. 4 Nike schools and UCLA and everyone knew he wasn't actually going to UCLA, I frankly never got why Alford kept going Gershon made it clear he didn't think Bol could get admitted to UCLA and would never pick them.

He dropped SC and ARizona over the FBI stuff. I think he's going to Oregon his mom is still mad about Calipari cutting him from Team USA, but his recent comments suggest he doesn't really care.

I think everyone is cheating to some degee, if the FBI had busted someone connected to some of the guys Oregon was recruiting they'd probably be named in this too, or UCLA, or just about anybody that's been in the Top 25 in recent years.

Just curious, did you read the article?

Yeah I agree with DWKB all that says is there's a document or documents in their investigative file relating to Adidas and Kansas, it in no way says it's about violations or payments. It stands to reason they would subpoena contracts for major schools that had Adidas deals at the time, I'm sure there's one for Louisville and UCLA and Indiana too.

I don't get why the Kansan is saying it contradicts what the University said either, there's nothing in there that says Kansas was told that information had been subpoenaed, it probably came from adidas, not Kansas?

Edit, a friend is a big Duke fan and Duke papers got the exact same letter saying they had info on Duke and Nike but can't release it. They were also told the letter is a form letter the FBI uses and that it's entirely possible there isn't even a document about Duke in the file they just send out that letter to anybody that filed a Freedom of Information Act

I never said anything about payments or violations; I said they're likely being investigated by the FBI.

I've been forthcoming that everyone is going to be under a microscope, which includes prominent Adidas schools. What can be reasonably inferred from this article is that KU is being looked at by the FBI. Whether or not anything of substance comes from that remains to be seen, but no one should be surprised, including KU fans.

LA TImes had a story yesterday saying the feds had seized computers from the entire USC staff and it was believed they had done the same thing with Arizona and OK State.

They asked for Miller's and his assistants' computers.

I'm not sure that's true although I agree it eventually will happen.

From what I've read all this letter is, is a form letter response to anybody filing for freedom of information act. They file saying we want information on Kansas and Adidas and get a letter back saying there's documents in the file but it's an active file. The thing is, EVERYONE that files for information gets the same letter. Duke and Devils Den got it for Duke and Nike, multilple Kentucky sites got it etc. And they are claiming that the FBI told them, it's a form letter, there is no guarantee there actually is a document in the file on your school, but if there is, we can't release it because it's an active investigation.

I fully agree there are going to be more schools, but I don't think this story is proof of anything it's just the FBI response to all the FOIA filings.

Awesome job taking that way out of proportion.

BTW---I hate KU so much that I professionally collaborated with their academic department over spring. But you wouldn't know that because you're too busy throwing a tantrum over insignificant details.

There's nothing wrong with the KU bball program. In fact, if recruiting is going to suck the next few years we should follow the Bill Self method of gathering low-character transfers. Got to fill the roster somehow. ;)

Oh UofA grabs low character transfers, they just don't get talented ones (Peters).

I will say this, unlike Miller, I could never imagine Lute paying his players. I mean they were such starving students they had to break into vending machines to even eat.

If I were a UA or USC fan I'd be nervous right now. With the NCAA allowing UNC to walk away free and clear, the pressure on the NCAA to hammer someone is going to be huge.

Sean's going to be doing a lot of "I'll stand by my statement" interviews for awhile now
