Last week was a total disaster. It clearly illustrated what is wrong with this team; lack of leadership and discipline being the primary issues. It also clearly indicated why Whisenhunt was so desperate to have Leinart win the QB battle. Warner is at the stage where he is better in short bursts.

Whisenhunt had it right last season, but Leinart can’t play up to his abilities.
This week with Q & Wilson out, home field advantage does not seem likely to be enough of an edge. The Cards are now starting to play the tough part of their schedule and nothing indicates to me that they are in the Bills’ class. Once again turnovers and penalties likely kill them and they drop a winnable game. It looks like Bills 24 – Cards 20 to me.

Were not in the Bills' class.. Yet you predict a fairly close, < a TD score..

Cards have a 7-2 record at home, Buffs' two best defensive line players are beat up, listed as questionable, they'll be out with their best CB, and its still not enough of an advantage for AZ?

Negative Nellie needs to lay off:

I agree completely with assessment of lack of leadership and discipline, it's everywhere on our team.

It's amazing Harry how other teams seem to have no noticable drop in quality when they bring someone from the bench to replace an injured player. We, however, seem to struggle with any starter out. I do think we have some capable receivers to replace Quan during his absence.

Q we can compensate for...

(EVEN with the warrior he is) BUT the D w/o Wilson is heart-less! Though I think DD is trying but he's quadruple=teamed EVERY play!! The other guys are just collecting "checks". That's why I want to see Campbell & Obew... Obem.. Hmmmm.. The "kid" from IOWA get in there. In-fuse a little energy & excitement. ...And if the crowd gets into it the D may respond and pull-out the WIN. ...And NO doubt in my mind that Kurt will revert to his form of the 1st 3 games. We're Home, NO slippery ball to deal with, and the O KNOWS they have to do better! I think they'll accept their responsibility in this and play MUCH BETTER! GO CARDS!!

Harry, what do you mean when you say Warner is only good 'in short bursts' .. ?

That's because the Cards tend to struggle, especially on the road, with the starters in.

We have no cover safeties. Wilson is adequate but Rolle, Franciso and Ware just suck at coverage. We have 4 safeties that can do a great job supporting the run but none that are good coverage safeties. This is a need for next season.

I think Harry means Warner can be a good quarterback for a short period of time say a game or two but he is not the answer for an entire season. Too inconsistent.

Lienart would probably play a more consistent game over the long haul.

Warner had a pretty good stretch of 10 games or so including last season even though the 49ers fumble in the end zone was very Warner like. I guess Leinart probably not having shown enough improvement and the pressure to win now factored into handing over the QB reins to Warner.

I think it is too early to judge Rolle. He will have rest of the season to show he is the answer, otherwise I agree FS becomes a need next season. Francisco just sucks. Ware is not a FS.

Also, I hope at some point this season, DRC takes over Green's position. Eric Green is just terrible. I hope he is not given an extension.

Against TB he finished with 0 TD 2 INT 33% passing and a 26.8 rating. Had a few good weeks and then a 3 TD 5 INT stinker against the Seahawks for a 65.5 rating. The game before he had a decent 83 rating but 2 turnovers with his 2 TDs. Last year Kurt only had 2 games as a starter where he didn't have a turnover of some kind and those games were against Cincinnati and Atlanta. He had a fumble against ATL but it was recovered by the offense.

Warner seems to lose control of large sections of games when he plays for an extended period. He just blows up. It’s a Jekyll & Hyde thing. It’s been happening for several years now and it is unlikely to simply go away at this stage of his career. I’m not saying put in Leinart, unless the Cards are ready to concede the season.

Warner is at his best when he can read the defense and fire, as in the “no huddle” offense. I was observing that I felt Whisenhunt had it right with the two QB system. While Warner didn’t like it, opposing defensive coordinators liked it even less.

I do agree the Cards have other receivers. Still Urban has too many drops and Breaston cannot be expected to play every down at receiver and be an impact return man as well. Using Doucet extensively seems the best tactic. The Cards need to know what they’ve got.

On defense the Cards seem to be restraining Dansby or he is madder about being tagged than he's saying. The D-line has be invisible for the most part. Wilson is the difference maker and he's out. If no one stepped up last week, what's changed? There's there's the concern of who will cover Evans?

The Bills figure to be tough. The Cards home field advantage is getting bigger and that helps. Still, it's hard to see them doing more than keeping it close.

Keep in mind the Rams were up 14-13 last week vs the Bills starting the 4th Qtr and had just missed a FG at the end of the 3rd Qtr.

It clearly illustrated what is wrong with this team; lack of leadership and discipline being the primary issues.

Exactly. Good example in today's game between Baltimore and Tennessee. Derrick Mason of the Ravens and Cortland Finnigan of the Titans get into a fight. Mason calms down, yet Finnigan goes and gets two more penalties. Keith Bullock, the undisputed leader of the Titan D (and a great Syracuse alum), lambastes Finnigan on the field and then is all over him on the sidelines.

None of our leaders can really do that to the young guys when they mess up or get out of control because our biggest leaders, Q, A Dub and Dockett are all in the top 2 or 3 at their positions in penalties every year. Before you can lead with your mouth you have to be able to lead by example.

I dunno. He's had one bad half in five games. After today's effort whipping up on the Bills, I'd really prefer he stay healthy and play every game. :)

So what's the over/under on when we dig this one back up?

Next week when Warner fumbles 4 times and TO scores 3 40+yard TDS in a 38-14 loss to the Cowboys?

If that doesn't happen then we know things have changed because it is what has been the script for the Car*s for the last 10 years.

I am encouraged though because the boys didn't let the backup QB for our opponent kill us with his career best performance like they usually do. :koolaid:
