That's what happens when you throw the ball all the time. Up 4 with 5 minutes left in the 4th and they're passing almost every down. I kept checking the score to make sure it wasn't Iowa that was ahead.

Dumbest choice of throws or totally inaccurate. Up 3 points, driving to minimally FG range, burning the clock, and he tries squeezing one in that ends up a pick 6. Aaaarrrgghhh.

Fixed it for you. Locker is awful. I guarantee that Locker will not even be a mediocre starter.

I think Locker gets piled on WAY too much. I think what sticks in everyones head is the Nebraska game where he played like absolute crap (like 4-20 crap) but I wouldn't use that as a definite indicator of how good or bad he is going to be. Nick Foles also had a career worst game against Nebraska last year, and between Suh and those two corners and Pelini, it can make like very difficult on not just a college QB but college OL's and WR's as well. I bet if you looked at the tape both of those units were getting destroyed on every play too. Hell Locker played Nebraska played this year (without Suh)and might face only 1 or 2 teams that have a better CB tandem in the NFL then Nebraska.

Locker hasn't carried the team on his back the way people expected, but he is actually a more physically gifted Tim Tebow, just with MUCH WORSE support around him (keep in mind only 2 years ago UW won 1 game) and he has played well against SC every year. He has a cannon arm, great mobility, and all reports are he has an unbelievable work ethic and leadership qualities.

The accuracy is a BIG TIME red flag for me, but I don't think its a fait accompli that he is going to be bad. In fact I think he will got to Seattle in the mid first round and actually be pretty good.

If you ask me the person who is really overatted up in the Nothwest is Steve Sarkisian. I am not sure why so many people think he is all that great but personally I think he is just okay as an OC and terrible as a HC.

I don't think Locker is a sure thing, but if you give him a stud QB coach, I think they could take all that talent and brains and make something of it.

I'm actually going to add someone to that list that I think the Cards should consider 2nd or 3rd round if they go in another direction Round 1.

Terrelle Pryor.

That kid is as physically gifted as Mike Vick and even moreso then Cam Newton but unfortunately he made the idiotic decision to go play for conservative sweater vest who I have no faith in being able to work with a talent like Pryor. Or prepare him for the NFL (see Troy Smith). I think if Terrelle Pryor is on a team like Auburn, Oregon, Oklahoma, or even UA, he is an absolute stud and leading the nation in total offense. Probably even a Heisman if he played for one of the first three schools.

If the Cards decide to follow my vision and get the most talented QB they can find and put him on the bench for a year or two, and don't go Newton, then I would go Pryor later on in the draft.

Its a tragedy what Tressel has done with him IMHO.

I don't understand the football geniuses in here saying that spread QBs rarely make it in the NFL. Gabbert is not a spread offense QB, but plays in one at Mizzou. It makes me wonder if some of you even watched the game last night.

Agreed. Terrelle Pryor will have to change positions in the NFL. He is a subpar passer and doesn't have the overwhelming athletic skill to overlook his passing deficiency.

So if we disagree on Gabbert, then that is reason enough to start slinging insults?

Just wasn't all that impressed with Gabbert, but like I said I haven't watched a ton of game film on him.

I wasn't trying insulting anyone. But he is not a dink and dunk, spread offense QB that some think he is without even watching him play.

I'm no Tressel fan at all but this was a mis-informed post. Pryor is an outstanding athlete but Tressel hasn't ruined him one bit. The bottom line is Pryor is a terrible passer. I think Tressel has put him in an offense that best covers his abilities as passer and tried not to expose his weakness. Trssel runs a an offense that has Pryor throwing deep, which is his best pass, or passes to the outside so that when they sail high are not picked off and just out of bounds. He gets Pryor out on alot of run pass options too, which also plays to Pryor's athletic ability. As for Troy Smith, saying Tressel hurt his pro potential is again sadly mistaken. Smith's senior year is about the only time Tressel ran a wide open offense because he trusted the QB to make quality decisions. He helped Troy Smith's career, not hurt it, because Smith was never a legit NFL prospect in the first place. He probably would have given Pryor a little more freedom next year because ,on the good side for Pryor, he is a hard worker and does alot of film study. He just can't throw it very well.

And here's the part where I stopped reading altogether.

I remember coming out of high school in PA he ran somethign ridiculous like a 4.3, he is 6'6 and has a howitizer of an arm. I might be off slightly in my recollection but not my much.

That would put him in Mike Vick speed range (ran a 4.45 at combine) and about a full .10 of a second ahead of Newton. Meaning the part you bolded (about being in the athletic realm of those two players) is not far off at all. The production is obviously different, but not the statement I made about being close athletically. I really shouldn't have to explain to that someone as obviously intelligent as you K9, now should I?

Hey but keep on with the condescending posts K9 and thank you so much for gracing us ignorant fools and with your superior high level opinions

Lord knows he never is wrong *cough* Daryl Washington *cough*

BTW I read that post about Krang you wrote yesterday and didn't comment at the time but will now. That was one of the most idiotic things I have read in a long time and total bush league by you. Unlike yourself Krang doesn't have hypocritcal circular logic and actually does a good job of addressing his point. He's also accountable for when he is wrong. To say he "used to be a good poster" but now because he doesn't agree with your view he is unreadable is so asinine I don't know where to start.

The funny thing is IIRC you are a teacher. Do you talk to your students like that? Because if you did, I am sure someone would have thrown you through a chalkboard at some point.

But I digress :)

I contend he hasn't gotten any better as a passer because of his coach and their scheme. As witnessed in the Rose Bowl last year, when they open up the game plan, he is pretty damn good.

And again, I don't understand why people are questioning his athletic ability. He was a bigger prospect then Vince Young coming out because of that athletic ability.

So let me make this point again. He is a disappointment production wise and a passer and QB. But he is not athletically. Thats beyond reproach.

http://www.maxpreps.com/news/Cs0oGm...ional-athlete-of-the-year--terrelle-pryor.htm

Reitz stresses that Pryor is a true quarterback – not just a great athlete playing quarterback. But he also used him at times at linebacker, defensive end, safety and receiver. He also could see him starring in track as a sprinter (he has run 40 yards in a blazing 4.35 seconds and ran 200 meters in 22.4 seconds as a freshman), high jumper, long jumper or triple jumper. Reitz added, “He could be a great volleyball player. I don’t think there’s any sport he couldn’t be great at.”

You can add baseball (where he used to hit long home runs in Little League) and golf (where he can drive the ball 280 yards with little practice).

So I get where some people don't like him as a draft pick. His production at OSU hasn't been comensurate with his considerable ability.

But to question him as an athlete? To wonder what I am thinking because I think he needs to be coached up but has the athletic ability at the QB that few others do?

At least if your going to debate my posts, know the subject line better (i.e Terrelle Pryor), and address what I am saying. You might not like the player, but nothing I wrote in my OP says anything other then he is a great athlete who hasn't been utilized properly.

I didn't say Tressel hurt Smiths pro prospects. In fact I think the opposite. He maxmized him as a runner and led him to more success then a guy his size should have had.

But I also read the articles the last few months about the offense Terrelle Pryor plays in and how "conservative" it is. Here are some articles saying as much:

http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/footba...ht-dominate-in-a-different-o?urn=ncaaf-293794

http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/footba...ht-dominate-in-a-different-o?urn=ncaaf-293794

http://www.sportingnews.com/ncaa-fo...dominate-college-football-in-a-spread-offense

You may disagree with his contention but I agree with him. If he was playing for Auburn or Oregon, I bet he has video game numbers rather then the I-form running back heavy offense of OSU.

Thats JMHO.

Damn I don't even like Terrelle Pryor that much but I had to go to bat on my logic. Its sound and I won't be dismissed like some fool because a haughty windbag like K9 doesn't agree with my sentiment.

I agree he'd obviously put up better numbers in Oregon's offense. I don't know if that would make him more NFL ready though. I also agree that I hate Tressel's offense. I must've misread you about Troy Smith. The thing I don't understand about Tressel's offense is why do the WR's seem to do so well in the NFL?

I think better numbers + his measurables would led to him being a better prospect and likely even 1st round material if he was at Oregon or Auburn. Thats why I think a guy like Newton is going to rise up draft boards come this offseason because on field production + measurables lead to high draft pick most of the time.

As for his NFL prospects? Even in my OP, I feel its a gamble to risk even a 3rd round pick on the guy because you can not be sure he will ever refine as a passer. But the NFL is somewhat (notice the wording) trending towards athletes at the QB position (Vick, Tebow) and I think Terelle Pryor is a pretty special athlete.

Not sure about the WR's although for every Santonio Holmes, Hartline and Robieskie, there is a Ted Ginn Jr too. Does Tressell have a very good WR coach in the program maybe?

LOL yeah I did get a bit annoyed by Kerouac's comment, but meh whatever.

Kerouac has been definitely wrong on Washington, though he was slightly correct on Washington taking on blocks (he's not very good at stacking and releasing to make tackles). I think Kerouac underrated his speed and athletic ability.

Now to the meat of your post: Measureables are just one part of athletic ability. There are the intangible athletic talents, and I think that's where Pryor pales in comparison to Vick (who was a mediocre college passer) and Newton (a decent college passer). Newton is also bigger and a better runner than Pryor.

But the offense he is running certainly is. It doesn't require him to make very many NFL pro offense reads and he never is under center.

Quick, tell me all of the good NFL QBs that Oregon has produced in the last 10 years.

He had a momentary brain fart.

He's not normally like that, there wasn't a ton of pressure game wise on him, I think I'd plead momentary insanity, or maybe he had money on the game? JK :D

My daughters boyfriend is a nauseating Iowa fan too so now I have to listen to this, as if being a Cardinal fan wasn't bad enough.

Would it help everyone to know that the only other Mizzou player I've pimped this hard was Jeremy Maclin?

I mean I told everyone he'd be a stud and he is, that's just because I saw him play and most of you who don't live around here don't.

Same thing with BG.

I've seen about 20 games he's played or more, about 20 and so the ratio I've seen compared to what most on here have seen is about 20 to 1 just on this guy.

I don't comment much about the other QB's cause I don't see them, I have watched enough film on Luck to know he's a stud but past that I really think this kid is much better than most people in the country know.

Mizzou's offense is deceptive, it was designed to deal with Iowa's main weakness the short pass, you can't pass deep on them without a go to WR.

Mizzou does not have anyone close to Maclin on the roster now.

He dosent' have an interception problem, he throws them, he has a ton of attempts so per attempt it's not bad at all, that pic was easily top two of the worst I've ever seen him throw, it was what it was.

However it does not change the 400 plus yards he just tossed out there.

I really don't want him as our QB, cause our QB's end up cursed, unless they are named Kurt Warner and he's not so I'd prefer he had a nice long enjoyable successful career and dosen't end up roping calfs or something.

http://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/blaine-gabbert-1.html

There's his stats, notice he had a ton more yards and TD's last year when he had better WR's.

This year is just goofed on WR's at Mizzou, I would think they'd have more wanting to play there since they throw so much but not this year.

I still say we need edge rushers & LB's galore this draft & definately early in the 1st round. Target a very good prospect in GJ Kinnie at QB from Tulsa either this year or next.
