good news and bad news being at camp....I miss info jurecki is giving out..and I just found out about pace..but I did get to see some action!

Macginnis moved the offense vs. defense drills to the far away field...and the kickers were on the field closest to the fans..I tried to watch from the end zone - but view is not very good..

Leonard davis was back on the field..no sign of ankle problems..he participated 100% from what I saw.

Veterans who are disappointing me:
1. starks...he was held out of offense vs. defense drills.. had ice on his thigh..the guys is just too slight and fragile.. I felt he needed to gain 10 of 15 lbs of muscle...but he looks about the same. Since we are way under the cap...and starks is already starting the injury thing..any chance we cut him and eat the loss this season..since we can afford to? Very doubtful...but it would not shock me to see this happening.
2. marquis walker seems to be below all of the rookies on the depth chart - even some of the undrafted ones and guys like soliday, parker and poole..not sure if this is because he missed the minicamps because he was a bucaneer..or if he is not showing sullivan much.
3. josh scobey..he is the 5th RB now..and appears he might be staying there in the near term.

At first in the o vs. d drills..it was mostly defense..but then the offense took over and pretty much whipped the defense in my opinion..

I came away thinking: I am not worried that much about receivers..gilmore and mcaddley seem to be stepping up..kasper played well today from what I saw..someone will step up here..there are some athletes in the group..

the dline starting is kind of the same as last year..kvb, wakefield, davis and bryant...this makes me nervous. Pace or someone needs to show up and step up..

The corner spot is looking bad..but not because of barrett in my opinion..I would say barrett and renoldo hill are playing the best..rhinehart was toasted today..and starks is always injured...and his size makes me think this is not temporary..My guy rhett nelson did not do much today when I was watching..

by the way...crowd was way down today..more like last season...and note to parents: if you bring a small child...put him in cardinal red or put him in regular non-football garb..I am getting irritated at kids decked out in other teams colors..today there was a kid in a brett farve uniform - helmet and all. yesterday there was jeff garcia, jerome bettis, etc..stuff...
Note to parents: it is free to attend..it is great entertainment...leave the other teams uniforms at home

With all the commotion on Pace's signing seems this thread has been lost.

Thanks for the update Pinaccle- A good read! Besides the obvious, why are you worried about the d-line in camp? re they not showing anything? Any injuries??

Not sure I understand the logic here. Why would we cut him because he's injury prone? I can see not re-signing him for that reason, but why not utilize him (for he is still far an away the best cover-corner we have) and actually wait to see if he gets hurt?

Easy, Adolf. Let kids wear what they want to wear.;)

I just do not see the dline getting a push...today (monday) was the 1st day in full pads..so it is too early to tell...I think 2 of the 4 are below average -wakefield and davis (although davis is a good backup) - and the word "potential" is what I think of when I watch bryant...this comparable group was awful last season and I was hoping dennis johnson or pace would be starting (which they could be). We are counting on bryant being better this season - another thing we will not know until the season starts..

By the way...emmitt smith has elusiveness I have not witnessed before in a cardinals training camp..the defensive guys are grabbing at air. He is obviously small..not the fastest guy around...but he still is appears to be very difficult to get your hands on.. Thomas jones tried the same type of game - but his timing was awful and he would always get nailed..

Believe me I know the ineptness of this squad. I just thought maybe there was something at camp you were witnessing. It seems like camp is very physical this year etc , does the DL look the same?

pariah: starks is already missing stuff due to minor injury - as I think mcginnis referenced..on sunday he was in some drills - but if a receiver bumped him coming off the line - starks was shoved like 10 yards downfield.. he is so small...but we knew this when we signed him.. his slight size seems to translate into more injuries.

tongue in cheek on the uniform thing..kind of...I could care less what people wear - but after the raider game and others last season - I am getting more irritated than usual at opposing teams fans. At least at the cardinals games - you buy a ticket and can do whatever.. The cardinals do an outstanding job with training camp - big red is there mugging with kids, you can get right next to the action, autographs are easy to get, the setting is wonderful..and it is free with alot of giveaways for kids..

Then kids show up in full football garb from other teams (packers, cowboys, 49ers, steelers, raiders) wanting the free stuff and carry around items for players to sign (not cardinals stuff - but generic stuff) - it does not seem 100% right to me..

lvcardfreak: one reason for my bias is probably that the d and o lineman practice on the far away field...and you do not notice them much on the full team drills (at this stage it is pretty much touch football as far as tackles go).. what I do notice is the receivers who practice right in front of the stands and who get balls thrown to them in the full team drills.. but...the o line seems to me mauling the dline so far..at minicamp you would see some guys break free and have a clear shot at the qb - but so far (but it is 2 practices) I have not seen this much..

Pinnacle, why didn't you say hello to me?

Nice report for not being close to the action.

In case you guys do not know...skorp has media passes and is on the sideline where fans do not have access...

Skorp: I was wrestling with my son yesterday (my 1st day) and today you were on the other side of the field...If I go this afternoon I will try and track you down..if not then tuesday morning..

So far my 15 month old has shown 0 interest in football..only interested in big red!

The little guy has got priorities. Right now the color red is a big one. Give him a few years. That color thing will translate into a football thing and he'll be a big Cards fan just like his dad.
