If the Bills will agree to the Shelton for Henry trade straight up, I'm all for it. If they keep asking for a swap of 2nd rounders, forget it. The trade is fair the way it is. If they ask for draft picks, we need to just pull out. Besides, we can trade Shelton for the Bears 2nd round pick, pick up another player there, and get JJ Arrington with our 2nd rounder.

I think if Chicago or Tampa offered their second round pick for Shelton, the deal would be done already.

I'd rather talk with the Dolphins about Surtain and then take a running back. They could definitely use Shelton and might even want Clement too. We could then take a running back or speed receiver or even trade down and take a tight end or a second level corner. I'd rather give them a second in the deal than trade picks with Buffalo to get Henry. Henry is only a moderate fit for Green's offense. He is being a pain about restructuring, so I think you only get him for one year. Right now, running backs are easier to find than tackles anyway.

To put this in perspective: It would be the swap of the players plus our #44 for Buffalo's #55.

Making this trade wouldn't kill us, but it does seem to be lopsided. Maybe our counter offer should be more along the lines of our #75 for Buffalo's #86 and #122

Thosre are pretty impressive three year numbers. Not at all related to an inflated amopunt of carries.

Don't forget he plays hurt, like no other rb's.

And we don't need him anyway.

We did before we signed Okeafor, notice since that signing I'd stopped mentioning Pryce.

Completely agree I really hope that the total absence of news that we're interested in Surtain is because we're doing such a good job of keeping it quiet. It's such a logical move, Surtain is a great CB, we need a CB, Miami wants to cut his salary, and they're in need of OL's. The asking price is purportedly a 2nd rounder, Shelton with something else ought to get a deal done. Surtain wants a lot of money we know that, but there's a gaping hole at CB right now and if we get him it completely frees us up to draft BPA.

Excellent point Russ regarding BPA. Denny preaches that all the time and now supposedly we are targeting a cornerback with the #8 pick. That seems to go contrary to Dennis Green's theory unless he truly feels that one of the corners are that good. If the Cards can land Surtain they can go a ton of different directions with that #8 pick. Surtain would allow the Cards to just sit at #8, be true to their draft board and take the top guy remaining regardless of position. If that happens to be Alex Smith or Derek Johnson then so be it. I love the idea of going after Surtain.

I really don't care who we get...Henry, Benson, Alexander etc... as long as we get one by the 8th pick in the draft.

Banking on a RB in the 2nd is ********. By then you have ABSOLUTELY no idea who will be there when we pick. And besides, Green doesnt pick 2nd rounders in the 2nd he picks 1st rounders. What happens when we get to the 2nd round with no RB and some guy like Dansby who was projected to go as high as 15 is sitting there. Do we pass on him and take a RB because we HAVE to?

If we dont have a RB by our first pick we will be TOTALY handcuffd throughout the rest of the draft.

We can always go with the RBs that are on the current roster. They won't scare anyone, but they both will run hard. The Cards are not that desparate.

I completely agree. That's why I won't flip out (and don't think it's "********") to take a RB in the second, or even the third round.

If Buffalo is trying to wait out Graves then they are playing a losing game. Graves and the Cards are about the most patient/sloth-like front office around. When is the last time they have rushed or had their hand forced on anything?

When you shop a player it takes time and rarely works out. Player for player trades are uncommon in the NFL.

Arizona Cardinals coach Dennis Green said Wednesday that the team still has interest in trading for disgruntled Bills running back Travis Henry.

The Cardinals are offering left tackle L.J. Shelton, but the Bills apparently don't feel they are getting a fair exchange with the player-for-player deal.

Green is intrigued by Henry's skills.

"I think he's tough as hell," Green said. "He's got exceptional balance, which allows a guy to get a lot of yardage. He's smart but powerful, compact, very difficult to tackle. I think he's a good player."

The Cardinals have plenty of other options. They could go after running back Shaun Alexander, who was given a franchise tag by Seattle but can be had in a trade. They could wait for the draft and take the best available back.

Anybody see this it looks like Denny still is interested in Henry, just an interesting tidbit.

I would love it if we could get Surtain. I just don't know how much he'd be willing to sign for.

Thats what I was thing too. Doesn't he only have 1 year left on his contract? I don't understand Buffalos position, they have absolutely no leverage in this deal. If I were them I would pull the tiger on a LJ for Henry in a minute.

I think Coach Green should wait closer to the draft perhaps draft eve or draft day before working the phone lines extensively on this deal. By that point he might have a greater feel for how the top seven will shake down. If Williams, Benson, or A. Smith (Brown won't be there) will likely still be on the board then forget the trade with Buffalo and deal Shelton for additional later picks this year or a higher pick in '06. If those three players go in the top seven then make this trade:

Travis Henry
Bills 2nd (#55)
Bills 6th (#197)

L.J. Shelton
Cards 2nd (#44)

Denny then can take Jones, Rogers, or Rolle at #8, best athlete available at #55, add Henry as our starting RB, and recoup a sixth-rounder surrender for Zellner/Hambrick.

Although I think we can do a striaght up deal in the end or at least get a 5th in your scenerio, I would go ahead and do that deal as you have it.
