First off, I didn't get to watch the game today. I was at the Dbacks game (so I too took some punishment, so back off :) ). But from what I can tell from stats, hilights, reading reviews, is this:

The Cards had a chance to win the game. Plain and simple. They blew it, true. But they had a chance. That is something that they haven't traditionally done on the road. And to be in it against Seattle, in Seattle, isn't a bad accomplishment. Since nobody expected us to win the game in the first place, where's the problem?

Oh, it's the way we lost it. We didn't try, didn't care, whatever. I'd be willing to bet that the team did in fact want to win, and to assume otherwise is to me, ridiculous. The Cards got beat by a team that has a bit more talent then them, probably better coaching, and homefield advantage by 11.

I also keep reading about how the Cards were lucky to be in the game because of the Seattle penalties and such. How come it doesn't work the other way? Maybe Seattle was lucky to win because of the Cards' penalties and such? All that we know is that the two teams played, and it was sloppy, and the Seahawks came out on top.

Which brings me to my last point here: If the Cards had somehow pulled this one out. Say Bergen doesn't fumble, the Cards score a TD, get a stop, score again, and win this game. How much complaining is there about the penalties, the paltry O-line play, all of that? I'm guessing not much, because most people would be just plain giddy from the team's winning AT Seattle. You know why that is? Because it would have been an upset. Which means it wasn't supposed to happen.

So nobody run into oncoming traffic, nobody run down to the team complex and hurl Denny Green into oncoming traffic (I wouldn't try, might throw out your back). The team is 1-1 and heading into a pivotal game against the Rams. If the Cards stink up the joint that game, then let's reevaluate. But right now the team is exactly where we thought they'd be at this point: 1-1.

Thanks for some dose of reality here,

an unreal game because of all the miscues and the give up attitude near the end but ...

The D (after a sloppy start) held us in the game and with some better play of the OL.... who knows ?

We could have won this one but we didn't, thats the real disapointment.

I always hate it if this board flip flops the extremes. From SB bound to fire DG or good example this week:

Dockett last week Dockett this week.

If we win next week, we are right back on track. Go Cardinals

I don't think it was too long ago that people were questioning Holmgren. They stuck with it, and now look where they are. (not saying I want Green here another 5 years, just saying)

Indeed we did, but the fact that we had that chance to me speaks volumes about where the team is now compared to where they were, say, 3 years ago.

Watch games your going to spew opinions on, cause otherwise you look like a raging homer.

If you watch the tape, all we did this year different than last year is use some mojo stick to cause Seattle to not achieve 4 more turnovers they should of, normally would of, and also be minus Hutchinson.

Those two things did more than we did to affect anything.

I agree. I wonder how short memories are because this team is light-years ahead of Coach Mac's teams. The fact we still have a ways to go only highlights how bad we were before Denny got here.

We lost a game I thought we would lose. I thought we would have scored more points, but their secondary played lights out-far better than I gave them credit for. (Isn't Marmie their secondary coach???) I also thought we would have given up more points based on our game 1 performance..

Let's see how we rebound next week.

Go Cards!!!

Game One Performance

After seeing the 49ers handle the Rams, yesterday, I feel better about our game one performance.

This team overall stayed in the game and like so many have said could have won. I would bet anyone if the team can stay healthy we will beat the Hawks at our nest. It's hard to win in the NFL just ask the Rams today. We have a strong Defense and a building O line. I can't waut till next week against the lambs. As for all who are calling for Greens replacment as head coach, IMO he will get an extension at the end of this season after we post a 10-6 year.

While I see the benefit of a positive attitude toward yesterday, I think it's very naive to think the Card's were "in it" yesterday. The game wasn't as close as the score indicates and realistically, there should have been at least 3 more Card's turnovers. Change those deep punts to turnovers and the blowout would have been on. The Cardinals were playing on a 50 yard field on offense yesterday and couldn't even get field goals. They were clearly overmatched all day long.

Please tell me what Green should have done differently? Guys just didn't execute.

I got one. How about being down by 18 points with 7 minutes to go, and STILL running the ball on 1st and second down?

How about when there is 4 minutes left, the Cards are still in the huddle calling plays rather than the no huddle offense?

How about not having any intermediate routes for the receivers? It was either post/go routes, or a dump off to the RB?
